The Field by Moonlight. Empty The Field by Moonlight.

Adelphie was laying in the field, looking up at the moon. It was only a slim crescent but she knew that the light of it made her hair turn into sparkling silver. "Thank you Goddess," she said. "That you for all you've done for me," thought more for my mother, she thought with it. Adelphie would have been fine being a full Nephelae. If she were a full Nephelae than Zeus hadn't needed to argue His case with the other Gods, then she'd have been His Warrior for longer than a few days.

She looked up at the sky again, this time no thinking of Artemis but of Zeus. She wondered what He was doing now. "Do You look at the moon such as I do?" She whispered into the sky. "When you live forever, does the beauty of the moon perish to a thing that always is, or do You look at it with renewed glory each phase?"

She closed her eyes, the light of the moon always felt good on her skin, it warmed her in a way that the sun never did. "Artemis, great Goddess, forgive me my choice, and do not wish me ill harm. I love you still for your gift, but I love Him in such a way I can never love you," she whispered, hoping the goddess would give ear to what she was saying.
