Mary Attaway~
Name: Mary Attaway
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Sponsor: Athena
Personality: Mary is very keen and affectionate. Though she's sometimes a bit outspoken, Mary generally tries to consider everyone before she speaks. She's always been a bit unconventional, upbringing considered, but she knows how to be classy and composed during even the most stressful situations. Always modest, she doesn't talk very much about herself, but loves to hear about the exploits of others and offer praise and criticism. Mary is a pushover, but she knows how to manipulate a situation and put her foot down if she has to.
When the situation calls for it, Mary is also very witty. She's quick with comebacks, and can scrounge up a bright solution in a pinch. She is highly observant, and has excellent memory. She is a very stable person, who keeps herself in full control at all times when in public view and doesn't let harsh judgment weigh her down. When the stress heaps on, she simply hides away for a day or two.
History: Mary grew up during the rise of the Industrial Revolution in England. Living conditions during this time were in steep decline, and her mother was very sickly, her father absent. This left Mary the only working member of her family at a very young age, and she worked in the horrifying conditions of the increasingly common textile factories in Manchester.
The local Luddites sabotaged the factory through which Mary did most of her work, and through a series of coincidences their leader found himself to be her uncle. He adopted her into the family at once, along with her mother, though the situation was very hush-hush. He had relative wealth, being a moderately successful landlord, but had taken severe dings in his income due to his failing investments in the local weavers, who were being beaten by the much cheaper prices afforded by mass production.
Mary, now with plenty of free time when not being tutored in manners and domestic tasks, immersed herself in informative literature. She took a particular interest in the studies of medicine, literature, and social sciences. As her mind grew, she began competing with her adoptive brother, her cousin. He was of course set up to take the place of his father, and while Mary knew she would never take his place in business she liked to keep him on his feet. Until she was married, which she planned never to be, all of her new found opportunity was tied to this family and it's social position. If not for the Athenaeum, she would be running things.
She assumed the pen name 'Henry Upton' and wrote small booklets written as her train of thought following certain subjects. These were never widely published, but were a hit as a small and intriguing mystery in the city. Her fighting spirit and mental prowess impressed Athena, refusing to simply be dominated, in her new role or her old one, and using what she had to get a leg up.
Preferred Weapon: Bow and Arrow.
Mary grew up on the streets, and has an affinity for close-up fighting. She prefers to do great damage from a distance, however.
Ability: Athena granted her a very much heightened sense of observation and recall. She takes note of everything and doesn't forget it. This ties into her physically; she may react on previous knowledge as a reflex, such as attacking a weak point or following exact directions from a single description.
Classes: Rituals and Temple Works
FIGHTING: Archery, Hand to Hand
MAGIC: Wind, Healing
OTHER: Mythology and History
