Personality: Nizhoni is excellent at putting up a facade of joking sarcasm and genuine ease, but just beneath the surface she finds it hard to trust anyone. She closely watches others and how they react, and sometimes needs a direct invitation to feel like it's safe for her to be included. She's hesitant to accept stability, but aims to radiate the same.
Her favourite people are nice and uncomplicated, though she is unerringly attracted to those with a rebellious streak. Nizhoni exudes a serene calmness, but is always looking for affection, and is quick to exact revenge. Her mind is always open, but she won't tolerate double crossing, though she is wont to do the same. She has a bad habit of pretending to be unaware, but she is prone to wickedness.

History: Nizhoni was born in the early 17th century to a small tribe that was aligned with the much greater Powhatan Confederacy. She was an illegitimate child, born to a siren woman who had seduced several men along the shore with her voice. But Nizhoni didn't stay with her mother; she was born human, unwanted, and her father was greatly surprised to find the child bundled up at his doorway. He was a kind man, and racked with guilt from his encounter nearly a year ago with a strange, inhuman woman. Raising her was making up for his deed, and so he took her in.
Nizhoni had many unusual habits, and a love for water sports unequaled by her fellow children. Her father began to fear the worst, and when puberty hit and she began making many unusual changes his fears were confirmed. Nizhoni could tell when her father became afraid of her, though he went to great lengths to emit the same affection that he'd always shown. He wouldn't let her go out anymore, telling the others that she was sick. She eventually figured out how to mask her alarming appearance, but this only seemed to worry her father more.
She was eventually found out, her ghostly voice echoing unseen throughout the area unsettling everyone until they found the source. She'd been hidden away for so long, and had grown to extreme beauty, which at first stayed their hands. But in her weary panic, the signs of her siren heritage became visible, and she was thought possessed of a demonic presence, or entirely replaced with a fae creature from the woods. Cruelty was traditionally used to draw out the spirit, physical mistreatment meant to force her abductor's hand and make them return the real Nizhoni. But her father knew the truth, and saved her, at the cost of his life.
Nizhoni retreated, hiding behind the guise of human beauty that she'd learned to lay over her inhuman features. She was young and pitiful when she happened upon a sympathetic household on the edges of the earlier findings of Jamestown, and they took her in. She accepted their alien appearance because she knew that underneath her human disguise there lay even stranger characteristics. She learned quickly to speak and understand English, and adopted a few of their odd manners. But she was quickly found out, and rejected from the household without a single feeling of pity. She was a monster, she had to be, and for a second time she escaped what she'd thought to be a permanent home. Bitterly, she exacted a measure of revenge on all members of the household, and entertained thoughts of turning the Powhatan Confederation against her old home.
Hera liked her strength and perseverance, seeing something of herself in Nizhoni's fiery temper and stubborn refusal to forget. She'd survived through mental and physical abuse, and though Nizhoni gladly played a contemporary role, she would never become fully subservient, seeking power of her own.

Preferred Weapon: Axes.
Nizhoni likes her axe to have a heavy, oversized blade and a sturdy pole, between four and five feet. She also likes the smaller variety, about the length of her forearm, sometimes dual wielded.

Ability: Hera granted her a keen eye for personality and intention, and Nizhoni can see through all but the most skillfully played deceit.
