Clear my mind
Cedric grabbed a brush and started to caress the black horse lightly with a small sigh. He was no longer a fourth year, he was a fifth, the one that he had train and fight really hard. He had been on his room thinking about this but a thought stroke his mind and he almost couldn't bear it. So he had ran to the stables to calm himself but doing some choirs with the horses.
The thought that had come in mind was I have to fight against Miss Sylphie.
And that same thought made him regret coming here. He just couldn't bear fighting the small charis. She seemed to harmless and fragil that even when he danced with her, he was afraid of breaking her apart. That was his problem. He cared to much. And now on the fifth year, he was thinking about the consequences of coming here. It was not Master Hermes fault, it was his own.
He sighed and the horse neighed a bit, making Cedric strike his hand over his snout to calm him down. "I wish I was a horse... to run freely and not caring about fighting." he said, remembering Mary's question on that warrior's longue.

Re: Clear my mind
"Why'd you have to be a horse to do that? You could strip down and run free whenever you'd like, me and Padraig do it all the time, don't we buddy?" Padraig answered Ruairi's question with a happy bark before happily trotting into the stables, tail up.
Ruairi was leaning on the entrance to the stables casually (thankfully it was high enough so he wouldn't hit his head) a smirk on his face. He hadn't been eavesdropping... much anyway. He'd been on his way to do some hunting in the forest, Padraig did love the hunt, and there were far more fun things than wolves for the Irish Wolfhound to hunt in these woods, when he'd seen Cedric running toward the stables. Obviously he'd had to investigate.
Padraig approached Cedric cheerily, wagging his quite massive tail, smelling the legs of the horse. The dog had been around horses its entire life and was completely used to them.
"I don't think we've met, not formally anyway. You're Cedric right? I'm Ruairi, Ruairi Mac Tarlach," he said proudly, the same way he had told strangers back home. Except back home they all knew about the brave Tarlach. Here, not so much.

Re: Clear my mind
Cedric was startled by the tall stranger that answered his retoric question. He got to startled that has the stranger started to spoke, he let the brush fell over ther soft ground and blinked his eyes at the giant and its dog. Cedric had never felt so little in his whole life. This giuy was freaking huge!
As he kneeled to grab the brush, the black dog (or was it a wolf?) came to his direction to smell the horse, making him fall over his butt. Cedric almost felt like he was no longer 18 (going on 19) but 10, since he was being such a clumsy guy. Maybe the thoughts in his mind made him a bit air-headed. He soon stood up, cleaning the dust off his victorian clothing, adjusting his glasses and hair and looking at the tall student.
"Nice to meet you Ruarí, yes I'm Cedric." he said, feeling a bit surprised as he bowed to the student. "How do you know my name? I mean, you must the new third year student, correct?" Cedric corrected himself, so he didn't seem to sound so caught off guard. Obviously that attempt failed.

((Actually, we're pretending he's been there all along xD But oh well (: ))
"Woah, I'm sorry I startled you, must've been deep in thought, you," he laughed and approached, letting the horse sniff his hand and at the same time snapping the fingers of his other hand. Padraig instantly returned to his side and sat next to him.
"Yupp, that's me!" Ruairi answered cheerily. "I dunno, I just heard about you. Aren't too many guys dressed quite like you around. You definitely won't be able to run through the forest dressed like that," he chuckled, giving Padraig a good rubbing over his head.
"So what were you thinking about quite so seriously?" He asked, curiosity overtaking him. He wasn't quite the one to wonder about some information being private. "Didn't seem like a happy thought to me."

Re: Clear my mind
"It's okay, I was way too distracted..." Cedric said with a small grin as he watched the creature sitting next to his owner. Very loyal indeed, like the hunt dogs his father had back home.
Cedric sweat dropped a bit, scratching the back of my head "It's because of where I came from. I can't get used to the togas from the Greeks and Romans. I feel way to comfortable in my own jacket and pants." he explained, adjusting his sleeves.
He remained quiet, picking up his glasses, cleaning them with a cloth as if he was trying to delay and think about an answer. As he finished, he placed his glasses back over his face and looked at Ruairí with a neutral expression. "I'm on my fifth year and I'm going to fight some dear friends. I'm not comfortable with that position."

Cosette watched from behind the small wooden fence, making sure neither boys could see her. She wasn't technically 'stalking' just following Ruairi, it wasn't like she liked him or anything (she was still head-over-heels with Apollo) But she knew she had to make friends at this place if she wanted to get throught the year, and she had no idea how to aproche him.
She sat back and watched, now wasn't the time, he was having a conversation with Cedric. So she waited and busied herself with staring at his tattoos, wonding why they looked so familiar.

"Oh, me neither, they all seem rather flimsy if you asked me. Then again, I'd be happy without any clothes at all, they're a bit constricting sometimes, especially while running. But I found out very soon in me first year that they don't really appreciate naked men running around," Ruairi said a little detached, before shaking his head and returning his full attention back to Cedric.
"Ah," he simply said, after listening to Cedric's worries. Quite honestly he didn't see most of the fuzz, the boy must have known what he was up for when he came here. "But you don't have to kill 'em, do you? Not that I've heard at least. It's just like a little sparring match, but with higher prizes and a huge audience. You should see it more like a game! No harm done, perhaps a couple of scratches, and there is a medic on site, is there not?"
Ruairi, while pondering on the view of the blonde (though not truly comprehending, as he failed to really think deeper than the surface of the matter) was completely unaware of being watched. Padraig, however, stiffened a little, his ears facing back so they might catch any sound coming from behind.
"Say, little man" (to Ruairi, most man are, in fact, quite little) "Do you ride?"

Re: Clear my mind
Cedric sweat dropped at the sight of a naked man running around the fields. That could be... disturbing at his sight. And embarrassing for the ladies in the athenaeum. "Well, maybe it's not the apropriate thing to do in a place full of different people." he said, still a bit disturbed by the mental image.
"Well, would you like to hurt the ones you love the most? The ones you trust and trust you, the ones you share thoughts and feelings?" he said, closing his fists. It was quite revolting to think that the ginger male thought it could be so easy. "I know there's a doctor, but it hurts just to think I have to harm people I like..." especially a poor blind charis, he thought but keep it to himself. Ruairí didn't need to know.
Cedric noticed that Padraig was a bit nervous, or at least had heard something from behind but his attention was again on the tall ginger. "Oh, yes I do. I used to work on my father carriage business and I often riden the horses." he replied, blinking his eyes and thought what Ruiarí meant by that.

Re: Clear my mind
"Yeah, maybe it really wasn't..." Ruairi trailed off, though his mind was with Cedric's other statement. He might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he knew the sound of his voice, judgement.
"Hey, hold up, don't go judging me now. You're thinking I'm some savage who doesn't care about anyone, are you?" Ruairi wasn't good at masking his anger, so it seeped freely into his words. "I don't go judging you for wearing stiff clothes and weird glass-things in front of your eyes either, do I? All I'm saying is that you knew what you signed up for."
"I was going to suggest we'd go for a ride, maybe let you blow of some steam, but I understand if you wouldn't want to be in the company of a barbarian savage for so long."

Re: Clear my mind
Cedric raised an eyebrown at Ruairi's rough reply. Cedric was only feeling revolted and had mostly thrown all the anger over the taller male. He soon sighed and relaxed a bit. "I'm sorry... it's just too much in my mind now. I do know what I signed for, but I was too book-curious about this place, that's why I came. I don't regret but... it will be tough." he said, caressing the horse once more before perking at Ruarí's suggestion.
"My friend, I never called you a savage. We are different in our ways and I would love to go on a ride. To relax a bit more!" Cedric's mouth opened on a smile as he started to take out the black horse out of his stable and looked at the ginger "Which horse do you like?"

Re: Clear my mind
Ruairi put up his hands, a grin already plastered on his face. "Alright, alright, no harm done. Let's, emh how do they say it? Disagree to agree? No that's not right... OH, Agree to disagree! That's it!" He grinned, stupidly triumphant that he got it right.
"Aaanyway," he stepped away from Cedric and glanced over the different horses -and other creatures- that were in the stables. A bunch of half-sleepy eyes greeted him along with some curiously watching the intruders. There was one in particular that kept a close eye on things, and Ruairi grinned. "That one looks like a feisty fellow, what'd'ya say boy?" He looked at Padraig, who answered him by lazily trotting over to the horse, wagging his tail.
Ruairi the horse sniff his hand for a moment while at the same time checking her out. It was a dapple-gray mare with dark manes and tail and equally dark legs. A pretty and elegant thing, nothing like the brutish war-horses his tribe had. And, most importantly, she was tall, which was kind of a necessity. "This one'll do just fine," Ruairi exclaimed, giving the girl a soft slap against the flank.

Re: Clear my mind
Cedric chuckled loudly at Ruairí's statement and nodded "That's right, Agree to disagree." he said before glancing at the horse the tall student had chosen.
"Really nice and pretty creature you have there. And incredibly tall. Fits you." he said, patting the black horse while he prepared him to be ridden. The dark saddle was placed on the horse torso as he snorted in delight, excited to be ridden. "And this one, looks like he hasn't gone for a walk for a while."
He placed a foot on the saddle and got comfortable over the horse, holding the reins and waiting for Ruairí.

Re: Clear my mind
Ruairi got the bridle for the horse, which was conveniently placed on a peg next to the stable. He fuzzed with it a little, it was significantly more complicated than those at home. But he'd seen others but the metal thing between the horse's teeth and once he'd mimicked that (quite poorly, but alas it lay behind the creature's teeth) he was able to figure out how all the straps worked and voila, a bridle as any.
"Aye, she's a right beauty isn't she? I'll make a point to ask someone her name once," he said more to himself than the other. "For now I'll just call her my lady." He pet the flank again before putting his arms on her back and pushing up, swinging her leg over. Saddles were for ninnies, plus, how was he supposed to feel the horse under him in a strange leather contraption? The horse's ears flickered back for a moment, watching Padraig carefully, who was standing next to her now, sniffing her legs.
"Alright, then, after you."

Re: Clear my mind
Seeing that the other male was ready to go, Cedric gave a small movement of his reins, making the horse start to walk slowly, to the exit of the stables. As soon as the sun hit the two creatures, the black horse started to trot happily. "Well, this one looks like a nice champ. I better call him Storm, for being so fired up." he said with a smile, noticing how plain the name was.
Cedric looked up with a small smile. Somehow he felt a bit better. All this talk and now riding a horse, made him relax some more. He turned to Ruairí "Wanna race a bit to descompress the stress?" he asked, feeling that the male wouldn't refuse.

Re: Clear my mind
Ruairi pressed his heels softly, making the horse walk out of stables behind Cedric. He was delighted to see her head snap up as soon as they were outside, taking everything in. She may be a bit spooky, but a challenge nevertheless. Ruairi liked challenges.
And talking about challenges. "Is that even a question, man? I'd love to do some racing, let's see what the little lady can do," he positioned her next to Cedrics newly named Storm. Padraig had followed him and, being careful to stay clear of the horses' backsides, stayed behind Ruairi, ready to run with them as he'd done all his life.
"On your count, little man."

Re: Clear my mind
Cedric smiled the more at Ruairí's approvance. "I'm only little in stature. The soul is what counts." he said, stopping the dark horse that seemed excited enough to race.
"On your mark... get set, GO!" he shouted, kicking Storm lightly and he soon took off in happiness. The beautiful black mane was thrown back with the wind running through the horse's hair and even Cedric's. His glasses were a bit jumpy from the race but he didn't stop nonethenless. It was a sense of freedom that was now rushing through his veins.

Ruairi gave his horse a kick too and at first she jumped sideways with protest but another encouragement got her galloping straight ahead, though the delay did mean he was behind Cedric and his Storm now.
"Hey, if you win I'll not call you little man again, alright?!" He called out, spurring on his Lady with was running ears back, head bent, like a wild horse. Just as Ruairi liked them.
Next to them Padraig bounded along, happily barking, his longs legs just about not keeping up with those of the horses. "Come on you snail!" Ruairi called out to him and he received another happy bark in return, both of them loving it.

"Deal!" the voice was carried away by the wind together with Cedric's laugh. It was such a feeling and he was loving it. It seemed like all the problems were being carried away by the wind together with his words.
Both Storm and Lady were side by side and Cedric turned his voice to Ruairí and asked "What if you win?" he was quite curious on what the other male wanted.
