A Rare Mood
If you asked people to describe Kallistrates you'd get various different answers. Unreliable being the number one. Lazy another. But if there was one thing people would probably agree on it would be that he's one of the most easygoing people you'd ever meet.
When Tahi was seven, and completely hostile to him, running away every chance she got, fighting to get away with all the strength her tiny arms could muster - Kal took it all quietly, and waited until she was done raging and would trust him.
For him to lose his temper. Something terrible would have to happen.
But something did. And that was the reason that Kallistrates was now in the training circle in a rare mood completely and utterly furious, with himself and his father - the winds circling around him mirroring raging with an equal fury. Because as of tomorrow it would be official. His younger brother would be at the athenaeum. The brother he had failed. The brother who hated him. Who Tahi didn't even know enough because Kal was too scared of how she'd react.
Phrixos
What could he do? Kal knew there was still some good in the boy - no matter how hard Dion had tried to crush him, from what Myrina said Phrixos was always kind and friendly to her. But the boy had spat in his face when Kal offered freedom from Dion freedom from Zeus. Kal flicked his hand violently at the memory, and a blast of wind sliced all of the training dummies on the side of the wall in half. Better them than an actual person, the rational part of his brain (still very much in the background mused). Though he'd probably have to replace them later. But right now he needed to work through the fury he was feeling. Gods help anyone who tried to interrupt him now.

((Kinda wants to interupt him, kinda doesn't want to die, kinda doesn't want another Mentor to beat Eos... but what the heck, he'll find out Eos is Zeus' mentor and kill him before he has to teach a class.))
Eos raised an eyebrow as the Nephalae mentor cut through all of the training dummies with a harsh wind. So this was Tahi's brother.
"Are you alright?" Eos asked him. The guy looked like he was in need of a sparring partner.

Re: A Rare Mood
Winds so strong weren't natural in the Athenaeum, where most of the weather-patterns were divinely altered and clear and calm were the default settings. Winds so strong could only be there by either divine intervention or very powerful wind magic. Wind magic only one person in the Athenaeum was capable of.
The winds weren't only confined to Kal's whereabouts, throughout the ground the winds had picked up to rather violent gales and most of the students had found shelter inside the buildings, most not entirely certain what was happening and had simply assumed some God was angry and decided to crank the winds up a notch.
Mnemosyne, however, was fully aware of what was happening.
She'd had to learn the hard way how Zeus worked. Zeus had pride larger than you'd be able to imagine, and Zeus never let things go. So when you mess with Zeus, you got it back somehow, most often through the things closest to you. Mnemosyne had defeated Zeus' warrior by means other than her own, years ago, and only last year it had gotten back to her by seducing her daughter and making her his little puppet.
And the Gods knew that Kallistrates wasn't popular with the Lord of the Gods. Mnemosyne didn't know his full story, but she did know that his father was an important man of Zeus' and she did know that Hestia, by sponsoring him, had taking him from under Zeus' nose, who had wanted to do the same thing. In fact Mnemosyne had been surprised to find Kal under Hestia's wing, as Zeus had been boasting about the wildcard he had under his sleeve the year before. The God had lost face over that, and he wasn't one to let that go.
Mnemosyne also knew about Phrixos to an extend. She know he was Kal's half-brother, she knew he was sponsored by Zeus and she knew it had to be a trick of Zeus to hurt Kal. She did not, however, know it would hurt him this much. Or enrage him this much.
And so she did the only thing she thought of doing, she went to the very center of the Athenaeum's recent weather problems, although it wasn't quite so easy. She was a dryad and had absolutely no wind magic, so walking against the winds wasn't as easy as it sounded. And she wasn't too happy with what she found either.
"Eos, you fool," she muttered. The new mentor of Zeus' was not who Kal wanted to see right now, and in his mood he might just do something stupid. Mnemosyne actually had no idea what Kallistrates would do when he was angry, it was not something she'd seen before, not to this extend. He'd be utterly unpredictable.
"Kallistrates!" She yelled, hoping he'd hear her above the winds. She came as close as she dared, staying a few meters away. "Kal! You're frightening the warriors!"
((As a note, I'd imagine that Mnemosyne was just a mentor back when Kal was a warrior, most likely teaching plant magic.))

Re: A Rare Mood
At the first voice Kal whipped around, the winds roaring with him - slamming the newcomer backwards and into the wall. Kal studied the man. He didn't recognize him - but he wasn't young enough to be a student. That meant that he had to be one of the three new mentors. He knew that Hera, Ares, and... That Other God were due for new mentors this year. Hera - he'd met her once or twice and they were on relatively good terms, but the latter two. Well Kal figured he had a sixty percent shot of having a real good target to work out his own rage, frustration and self loathing.
"Who are you?" He said, his voice loud, and icy cold. "And more importantly, who do you belong to?"
It was about that point when Kal thought he heard another voice. Mnem? Oh gods - she was the last person he needed to see right now.
But as he reached out with his senses, he realized that she was right. His fury had inadvertently subjected the athenaeum to gale force winds. He quieted them, drawing his fury inward. Not that he was sure he could hold it for long - but it might make her leave. A deadly silence hung in the air.
"It is done, Mnemosyne. You should go. This fellow here and I have a match to conduct, and I there is a 66.667% chance that it is not going to be pretty." His voice was still cold, absent of its normal warmth. He released a little of his magic and let it play around his fingers, swirling the winds in a tight ball, the currents running against each other as sharp as blades.
He turned to the blonde man. "I'll ask you again. Who are you, and who do you belong to?" He said in a cold voice, flipping his little ball of wind back from one hand to the other.

((Since Eos is pretty bad at most magic I have a feeling he's about to get his *ss kicked. And the fact that he only has a short sword with him :'D . Mnem, leave the many men to fight *shot*))
Eos stayed still and analyzed things, so this was Tahi's brother? He was very confused by the whole thing until something finally clicked in his mind. They were both wind nymphs... who were spronsored by Hestia. 66.667% sounded about right, and the odds were not in his favor. His best bet would be to try and calm the Nephelae... but he doubted that would work.
"My name is Hesperos, and I belong to no one. Even the gods can't take away free will." His eyes stayed cold, and Eos tesnsed waiting for the next move.
((For some reason he always sounds liek a fortune cookie :') ))

Re: A Rare Mood
To be quite honest, this side of Kallistrates terrified Mnemosyne, she;d never seen him this violent before. But she had to stop this madness, he was not going to murder her mentor! No matter what that meddling God had done this time!
"Kallistrates!" She used the tone she normally used while scolding Ilios, hoping it would work for grown men as well as it did for little ones. "I will not have you throwing my Athenaeum in disarray any less than I will have you harming one of my mentors!"
She took a step forward, glancing at Eos as she did so. He hadn't told him he was Zeus' mentor, not yet anyway. Even if his absence of an answer might be enough to confirm Kal's suspicions, at least to a percentage that did mean certain death.
"Kal, think this through. If you harm Zeus' mentor, he will force me to remove you, you know he will." Her tone took a more pleasing sound. "I can't do anything against him, and what would happen to you? Or Tahi, think about Tahi!|

Re: A Rare Mood
Kal laughed at Hesperos' answer, though it was a cold laugh - devoid of any sort of real humor. "Clever, clever. You're speaking in riddles, little man. Yet you know what I mean - we're all beholden to someone here. Answer me." he said, releasing a small blast of wind - which sailed just to Eos' right, ruffling his clothing as it passed.
Again Mnemosyne chimed in. Why wasn't she gone? He'd stopped the winds. The athenaeum was safe. She just needed to mind her own business. And then what she said really sank in. Firstly that this man belonged to Zeus. Secondly that unless this played out a certain way - he was likely playing right into the god's hands - starting a fight.
"So you do belong to Zeus. So I'm sure he's told you all about me. And my sister. And my..." he paused, his voice filling with emotion for the first time since he entered the ring "my brother." He slashed out again, missing both Eos and Mnemosyne, but cutting the already destroyed dummies in half again. And then the winds dropped. Completely. Filling the room with the same deadly silence of earlier - only this time there was a distinct air of sadness in the room.
He looked at Mnemosyne with pain filled eyes. "Don't worry Mnem. I'm not that foolish."
He turned back to Eos, the cold anger back in his eyes. "And you. Stay away from me. Stay away from my sister, and if I find out you hurt my brother - or if you make him worse. Just watch you back."
And with that he left. His glider was nearby. He could fly off to the mortal realm - escape and cool down. Yes - that was a good plan.

Re: A Rare Mood
His laugh sent chills down her spine, this wasn't what she was used to, and it hurt in her heart to see him act like that. Run away like that.
"Kal!" Mnemosyne called after him. He was... not in his right mind, not now. She looked back at Eos, he could handle himself. But perhaps it was a good idea to let Kal calm a little too. He wouldn't hurt innocents in his anger, Mnemosyne was certain of it.
He had been threatening to kill Eos.
But that was different! Wasn't it?
Mnem turned back to Eos. "Eos, I'd advise you to do as he says, stay away from him and his sister. He'll settle down soon enough, but I don't want to take chances." She hoped, at least, that he would see sense. Men could be so foolish!
((Yes I suppose she is, though it would be hard to get another Zeus mentor AND have the god's wrath down upon them. And she kind of has a soft spot for Kal ))

"I'm not completely daft," he let her know.
((Yes he is, I know I made him =3=))
"But... thanks." He said, not wanting to admit that the Preistess had just gotten him out of quit a pinch. He felt like he could have taken on the wind nymph if she hadn't interfeared, but then again, he liked being alive.

"You were daft enough to come near him like that!" Mnem lashed out, some of her anxiety and worry bubbling to the surface in anger and blame.
"How much did Zeus tell you anyway?" She demanded. She knew that he wasn't to blame for this, but emotions had their way of messing with logic. "Did he tell you anything about Kallistrates? Or Phrixos?"

Re: A Rare Mood
Eos chuckled at the thought of Zeus offering any sort of information to him
"Zeus doen't tell me anything," he let Mnem know. "The only information about the gods I get is from Apollo and Athena, though I did know that Phrixos is a new pupil of mine..." Who was also a wind nymph, what was going on? He didn't let Mnem's anger get to him, he could tell how worried she was. She was basically the head of the Athenaeum, she had a lot on her plate as Head Preistess, she had a lot of gods and goddesses to please.

"Zeus has done Kallistrated a lot of wrong," she told him a little less forcefully. "His father was Zeus' prime general and a pure Nephelae as Kal. Him and your lord are not on good terms, I do not know everything, but I do know that it will be a good idea to keep away from him for a while."
"I'm sorry, for my outburst," she started. "I'm just worried. Oh, and Eos, one of your warriors, Adelphie, she's my daughter. I would appreciate it if you could protect her from Zeus, even a little."

Re: A Rare Mood
He looked into Mnem's large strange eyes and could see how much she cared for her daughter. Why was the girl of Zeus then? He sighed, women and their chilldren, he had learned not to make that harder on anyone.
"No problem, I don't agree with most of the things the old man does," he said referring to Zeus. He was a nasty kin gif there ever was one, but that was the problem, there usually was a nasty king.

"I believe you, but you do stand as the ambassador of a treacherous man, one not trusted by most. You're going to have to prove yourself." Mnemosyne warned. "Zeus is not the most popular God around."
Re: A Rare Mood
Eos chuckled again as Mnem pointed out the obvious faults of Zeus, popular with the ladies, very unpopular morals. He had know what he was getting into when he took the job though ((no he did not)) and was ready for whatever the Athenaeum could throw at him. He didn't have a choice really, he could have betrayed Apollo, betrayed Athena, or let Zeus claim him.
"Thank you Mnem, really," Her trust meant a lot to him. The trust of anyone meant a lot to him at this point. "Don't I know it, he causes more problems than he solves."

"You're very welcome, you're one of my mentors now, it wouldn't do to have no trust in you, even if your teaching skills are a bit questionable," she smiled softly.
"I don't believe he has a mind to solve any problems, but we shouldn't speak of our feelings to him so plainly, who knows who may be listening?"

He laughed when Mnem brought up the fact that he had been looking for 'how to teac' books in the library just the other day. That was when she saved him from Sylipha.
"You're right..." he said, figuring at least one of the gods was listening in on their conversation. "Hmm, a less contraversial topic then? Do you happen to have a list of everyone that's supposed to be in my class?"

Re: A Rare Mood
"There should be a list in the rainbow ponies Lounge, right by the coffee machine," Mnem explained a bit absently, a thousand things still going around in her brain. Most of them to do with a certain trio of related Nephelae. She shook her head, those were not problems for now, but rather for later.
"Say, if you do ever need help with teaching, you could always ask me, or one of the other rainbow ponies. We all had to start once. I, for one was a disaster when I started."

The rainbow ponies's lounge, he would have to take a look there later.
"Really? Even you High Priestess Mnemosyne, was a disaster at one point? What I wouln't give to have seen that." He tried to lighten the mood by poking fun at the Dryad.
"I'll be sure to ask if I have any questions," he let her know.
((So =3= I really do have a question, for classes do I just draw a little picture of rainbow ponies and put it on dA with a link on here, or do I have to RP som eof it out and aaaaah?))

Re: A Rare Mood
"Oh yes, I started as the earth magic teacher with absolutely no experience. I thought they knew far more than they did and figured that, for the first lesson, I'd bring in one of the most dangerous plants around, a warrior almost got killed, it was a disaster! But everything turned out right after all, with a little help from Apollo, whose warrior it was that I almost killed." It was far from embarrassing anymore, since it was a long ways in the past, but Mnemosyne still remembered how she'd wanted to pack her bags and go that day. It was a good thing she hadn't.
"I don't think the student ever did trust me anymore after that, and I was his rainbow pony too!" She laughed softly. "I'm sure you can't go any worse than that."
((The main lesson plan will have to be a picture or a comic showing an rainbow ponies for the students, you could use anything, made-up creatures, places, whatever you want, just make it interesting. Make it so that they want to participate. You can just set up a topic in the training square's lesson forum for the to roleplay. In fact I rainbow ponies it!))

Re: A Rare Mood
Eos almost flinched when he heard Mnem say 'Apollo' he wasn't expecting it, but she was his rainbow ponies... He was going to have to get used to people throwing all the gods' and goddesses' names about.
He chuckled when Mnem told him about her first class. "I just hope I don't kill anyone," he admitted. "They should expect bruises." He would go easy on the first years, but the fifth years... ((>D *evillaugh*))
((Ok yaay, I'll start writing in a word doc and copy paste when uh... when I feel XD ffff drawing added to list))

Re: A Rare Mood
Mnemosyne did indeed notice the flinch, perhaps Eos had a connection to Apollo, good or bad. She'd make a not of it. She cocked her head, regarding him curiously.
"You won't I'm certain," She smiled, though still keeping a close eye on him. "But bruises are quite alright, they're tough, they can handle it."

Re: A Rare Mood
He grinned, "I sure hope so. But they are warriors if they can't handle a few bruises..." Then what? Most of the kids probable didn't have much of a choice in being at the Athenaeum. That was just the way it was. Eos sighed, relieved that healing magic was the only one he could really use. He felt lik eit was going to come in handy. (("Then they should go take math with Morph." *shot*))
