Alone at Twilight
Looking around the twilight lit field - Phrixos made sure he was alone. Not that he could use wind magic to be sure - but he conveniently forgot that. It made it easier to take the fact that he was a nymph with pretty much no magic to speak of. Even the two opals he carried with him hadn't helped, and they were very low on magic right now. And he didn't know anyone with a lot of wind magic - barring the betrayer and the mutt - who could re-charge them. But he wasn't going to think about that right now.
Instead he pulled something out of the pocket inside his breastplate. It was a feather - a bright orange feather from the only person in the world he really cared about, barring his parents and his Lord - his twin Myrina. She wasn't here at the athenaeum -which he supposed was good. The battlefield was no place for a female, especially one like Myrina. Charites were notorious for being flighty, naive, and lovestruck - and his sister was no exception. No - she was much better with Lady Aphrodite where she belonged. Still - he would miss her while he was here - though he'd never admit it to anyone. Maybe he'd find a way to sneak out and see her. But he couldn't get caught. He knew full well he had a weakness when it came to Myrina - and he couldn't risk that getting out. He had come here with a purpose, and he wasn't about to loose sight of it. Myrina was safer where she was.
In the distance Phrixos heard a soft rumbling, like thunder and lighting, and a breeze blew through the clearing - knocking the feather out of his hands. Maybe his lord was angry with him for thinking about Myrina. Or maybe it was just a coincidence.
"No!" Phrixos cried, reaching out to catch what was essentially his only lifeline to his twin.

Re: Alone at Twilight
Eri had been out exploring again and had decided to take a walk through the field. The time to herself in such a wide open space where she could just walk and think helped to clear and calm her head a bit. A refreshing change from the stuffy, corseted atmosphere back home. She put her arms up behind her head, leaning back and closing her eyes as she walked, allowing her earth magic to help her see where she was stepping. Here she was free...
She looked up in surprise at the sound of a shout from nearby. She opened her eyes suddenly to see someone -she couldn't see who in the twilight, but it sounded like a student- chasing a bright orange feather. The feather came right to her and she plucked it out of the air quite easily, turning to hold it out to the unknown student. "Is this yours?" she asked kindly.
((Mind if I join in?))

"Yes!" Phrix cried, snatching the feather from the girl's hand, not even looking to see who it was. It was far more important that Myrina's feather was safe. He quickly stuck it back into the pocket of his breastplate where it couldn't be blown away again.
"Thank yo.." he started, looking up to see who had saved him. "You?!" he said with mixed surprise and shock. It was the rude little lampad who had acted so obnoxiously at the ball. What was she doing here?
Phrixos studied her. She had returned his feather. He supposed he owed her for that. He'd play nice this one time. For Myrina's sake.
"Thank you lampad." He said evenly - and turned away.
((Of course~ You're always welcome unless the thread says private! Ohoho - nice phrixos is coming out somewhat))

Re: Alone at Twilight
Eri was shocked when the boy, for it turned out it was a boy, snatched the feather from her hand. When she realized who it was, her jaw dropped in a most unlady-like fashion.
It was the rude, mousy spoil-sport from the ball. She was annoyed by his abrupt thanks and sudden departure, but reminded herself, for once, to play nicely. He had said thank you at least. She trotted to walk alongside him.
"My name is Eri. Not Lampad." she said mimicking his even tone, then catching herself before she made him mad again. "Soooo, what are you doing out here?" she asked conversationally.
((Huzzah! and Eri's holding her temper ;w;))

Re: Alone at Twilight
Phrixos sighed. Why couldn't she just leave him alone. And now it appeared she was irritated at him for not calling her her name, when it wasn't like they had actually been introduced. No - she had come bouncing in, and he hadn't been paying attention because he was talking with Cedric and she was being rude. So he hadn't known what her name was. Not that he should have cared. She was just a female after all. But Myrina was just a female too...
"I don't see how it's any business of yours, Eri." He said, fingering the feather from underneath his breastplate. He sighed, and looked away from her.
"Not all of us were fortunate enough to have their twin come with them like you were, Eri. Not that I'd want her here. The battlefield is not a place for a soul like hers. Nor for any woman for that matter. But that doesn't mean I don't miss her." He said in a low voice, not really caring if Eri heard or not.

Re: Alone at Twilight
Eri had to work hard not to hit the boy. He was always so... but she had promised Oni she would try to behave and get along, so she gritted her teeth and listened to what he had to say.
Upon hearing that he had a twin and that he was not here, the smile she had been working so hard to maintain fell. She didn't even get mad about his comment about women not belonging in the Athenaeum. "Y-you have a twin? A sister?" she said sadly. "And you've been separated?" She thought about how she'd feel if Oni had not come with her and shuddered. She couldn't live without her brother. Not yet anyway...

Re: Alone at Twilight
"Her name is Myrina" Phrixos said quietly - not even sure why he was telling her this. But he felt so... so... lonely. Even when he was training with his father he had been allowed to see his mother and sister once a month - and he got by with that. But now - it'd be a whole five years before he'd be able to see her again. If he won that is. He wasn't really sure what Zeus would do to him if he didn't. He wasn't really sure what his father would do if he didn't .
"The feather is hers. Thank you for saving it." He started to walk away faster. He would be nice to her tonight because she saved Myrina's feather. That was all. She was still an inferior female and he shouldn't be telling her this, no matter how lonely he was..

'Myrina" she said quietly. "Its a lovely name" she said smiling. She was about to say thank you, when he began to walk away from her again. Frustrate she ran to stand in is path for a moment holding her hands in front of her in a "placating" fashion.
"Hey wait a minute! Will you just sit still for one second?" she sighed and ran a hand through her hair awkwardly. Apologizing was not one of her strong suits, but he was determined to try for Oni's sake.
"Look," she finally said fixing her eyes on his yellowish ones. "I'm just trying to say I'm sorry about how I acted at the Ceremony" she said. Man it was like pulling teeth to do this, but she soldiered on. "I was overly excited, and felt like I could actually be myself and free from my father for the first time in my entire life, OK? I just... went overboard... and then you were acting all high and mighty.. and.... I'm just sorry ok?" she finally said still looking at him with determination.
((Good lord... she apologized o3o))

Re: Alone at Twilight
Phrixos was stunned. She was apologizing? What?! He wasn't sure how to react. For a woman - she was certainly different that everything his father had told him, and Myrina's polar opposite. She was... rather courageous standing in front of him when it was very obvious that he wanted to be alone, then apologizing like she actually wanted him to like her.
What to do - what to do?
Phrixos thought it over to himself. He owed her for saving the feather. And he wasn't the kind of man that would let a debt go unpaid.
He matched her gaze - noting her mismatched eyes ((if she has her contacts in we can forget about that part)), and nodded his head, acknowledging the apology. To repay the debt, he thought grimacing slightly. "I may have been at fault as well." May have. That was as good as she was getting out of him. Truth be told he could sympathize. His own father was not easy to be with. Not that he'd ever tell her that. He was a man - it was not his place to complain.
"Though, I cannot say that I was merely acting high and mighty." He paused. "I am high and mighty." He gave a low chuckle. "Now we never did get that dance, Miss Eri, now did we?"

Re: Alone at Twilight
Eri had to fight to keep her jaw from dropping. The little mouse had actually admitted he was partially to blame.. well sort of... She couldn't believe it. Could there actually be a soul in that harsh, rude exterior?..
She did, however, giggle rather girlishly when he said that he was, in fact, high and mighty. "No I don't believe we did" she said smiling rather cheekily at him in response to his question. "Shall I fetch my sword or would you rather we just use our fists?" she asked innocently.
((Nah, no contacts, she only wears those when she's pretending to be a boy... or when interacting with humans back home. Oh my word so is Eri..... Run for you lives! The world is ending! D:))

Re: Alone at Twilight
Phrixos frowned, actually put out. "So like a woman, to wander unarmed," he said, placing his hand lightly on the pommel of his own sword, which he never was without. "I'm disappointed, Miss Eri. For a moment there you had me believing you were almost a worthy opponent." He sighed, an air of superiority and disappointed in his voice.
"I guess we'll have to dance some other time." He turned his back on her and walked away, trying to shake off whatever had gotten into him. An idea hit him. He was using her. That was it. He was being sort of nice to her to gain her trust so he could use her later. There. That explained his reaction. Because there was no way he'd be interested in a girl like her otherwise...

Re: Alone at Twilight
"Well I can always use a dagger if it pleases you" she said drawing a dagger from her coat sleeve and tapping his shoulder with it.
"I apologize for not having my sword with me at the moment, but you must understand that the political and social standards of my time forbade me from wearing a sword whenever I wished." she said coolly. "I'm lucky my father allowed me to learn at all, really. If I had had it my way, I would have been allowed to wear trousers and carry a sword at all times." she said flipping her long hair out of her face.
"However," she continued, "Now that I am away from the restraints forced upon me by my home and gender and have seen that such things are permissible here, I shall take to wearing my weapons and clothing as I see fit." she said tapping his nose with the flat of the dagger. "Fair enough?" he said her eyes daring him to challenge her.
((I can't believe she's being coherent... though obnoxiously threatening as usual =3='''))

Re: Alone at Twilight
Phrixos turned - a smile lighting on his face. So he was going to get a chance to show off his skills with the blade.
"Things may be different here - but that doesn't change the fact that women are physiologically weaker." Phrixos paused for a second. "Though I never quite understood the appeal of wearing trousers." That had always sincerely puzzled Phrix. Why on earth would a person want to be confined like that? He shook off his puzzlement. "But it matters little to me what you wear. As long as you can't complain that it hindered you from winning, we can have our dance," he finished - fire shining in his golden eyes, as he drew his dagger in one smooth motion.

"While that may be" she said "we are also rather cunning creatures. And as far as trousers are concerned" she said, unhooking the belts that held her skirt in its normal, more modest, style and drawing it to the side and belting it out of the way (like in her profile pic). "I would not have to resort to this rather, uncouth method of giving myself better mobility."
She then took off her coat, dropping it in the long grass by her side. "Now then" she sad with a flip of her hair, her red eye blazing under her long bangs. "Let's dance."

Re: Alone at Twilight
Phrixos locked his gaze with her, the fire blazing hotter in his eyes. She had challenged him. He wasn't going to go easy - even though she was a girl, even though she had saved Myrina's feather. No - Phrixos didn't lose when it came to swordfighting - and daggers - they were close enough. He wasn't going to be the gentleman and let her have the first move. She wanted it? She'd get it - and then some.
Closing the distance between them Phrixos crouched down, and slashed upwards with his knife. It was time to show this Lampad who the true expert was here.
((He's having fun - can you tell?))

Re: Alone at Twilight
Eri moved aside to calmly let the dagger pass by her face, grasping his wrist and using his own momentum to pull him closer to her rather than moving away. She then twisted around him barely an inch away to bat the back of his head with her unarmed hand before releasing his hand and pulling away. "Oh come now, be more imaginative" she teased, her eyes dancing.
((Oh yes, can you tell she is too? XDDD Hope that description made sense >3> I can see he move in my head, but I'm not sure how well it comes out on paper))

Re: Alone at Twilight
Phrixos growled at himself inwardly, shaking his head to right the fluffy bang that fell into his eye when she batted his head. The girl thought she was playing with him - well... she'd see. He moved in again - feinting the move that he had used before - but changing direction at the last second, turning the lateral motion into a horizontal motion right at her chest.
((Umm.. kind of. She'd have to be unarmed to pull it off though. He's attacking with his right hand, so if she were armed and she's grabbing him, she'd have to grab him with her armed hand (which I think would be rather hard) and hold his hand down, while batting him with the other hand - which you specify is unarmed. Because for her to grab him with her unarmed hand would mean she would bat him with the armed hand. Which would be bad for Phrix - and probably not a situation he'd let himself get into... And for the third option, she grabs him, then let's him go to bat him - he'd never stay still for that long that close. but you never know... Anyway it's not a big deal. I tend to over think things.))

Moving to parry the feint, she squeaked slightly as his attack switched direction coming at her from the side, jumping back at a diagonal to barely avoid the dagger's point. She then launched herself at him again aiming a diagonal swipe at his torso.
((Shrugs.. Meh.. I was really tired so I couldn't quite get it to come out right. Oh well. too lazy to go back and fix it XD Actually she might still be able to hit him with the armed hand if she switched her grip and just smacked him with the back of her hand or just tapped him with the flat of the blade.))
