Every Song Tells a Story

Eos walked into the band room and went straight to the piano. The large wooden instrument glistened temptingly under the lamp for the sheet music. He figured it wouldn't hurt to play a little something on it. Since he hadn't seen anyone around the hallway, or the band room.

He sat on the bench in front of the cursed yet beautiful musical contraption and fingered a few scales absentmindedly. After a few seconds, he realized that for once in his life, he didn't have a song playing through his head. Weird, the one time I want to play, he mused to himself. Well there was one... but it was the type of song he probably shouldn't play aloud... one created by a different demigod of Apollo.

Addi tiptoed down the hallways of the athenaeum towards the arts room. She had run out of drawing pencils again and was currently sneaking along to pilfer some from the school's rather hefty supply.

As she turned into the arts and music hallway, she noticed that someone had left the door to the music room open. She was about to close it when she spied Eos sitting at the piano, his face thoughtful, as if trying to recall something.

She hid herself just outside the room, shoving her obnoxiously long hair out of her way as she peering through the doorway curiously. She loved Eos' playing, but he generally refused to play when others were around. Thus, she plopped down, watching and waiting hopefully.

Eos sighed with a grumble and lay down on the piano bench, feeling not like himself at all. But happy. But... weird. The reason's why he was happy was because he had finally talked to Tahirah. The weirdness was that he wasn't used to being this happy and lonely at the same time. Right after they got back to the Athenaeum, Tahi had to leave again. Off on a mission from Hestia. And now Eos was all alone, having to deal with Kal. Which he wasn't looking forward to. Which was one of the reasons he was in the band room, to hide.

He sighed again and glanced at the open door, surprised to see a certain siren sitting by the door watching him.

"Ack! Er... hi Addi."

Addi let out a little squeak, almost falling over as her adopted older brother let out a yelp.

"Sorry" she giggled gliding in to kneel by Eos. "I thought maybe you were going to play soemthing so I wanted to listen."

Eos sat up and smiled. "Any requests then?" he asked.

Addi cocked her head a moment thinking through all the music she had learned since coming to the Athenaeum.

"Do you know any Mozart?" she asked sheepishly, peering up at him.

[Eos]

"Of course," he told her with a cheeky grin. "What do you want to hear from him?" he asked.

Addi thought about it again for a bit before finally coming up with-

"Magic Flute?"

She knew it probably wasn't a good idea to ask him to play music with lyrics, but she loved the show so much she couldn't help herself.

Eos' grin widened as he started the play the music of the opera. This was almost what he had been thinking about. A magic flute... haha.

Addi grinned and settled down happily by her brother, swaying a bit in time to his playing. She loved this opera and wished she could sing along; but, knowing what would happen if she did, she kept her mouth tightly shut and simply listened

After he was done, Eos twisted around and smiled at Addi.

"I was actually thinking about something like this..." he admitted.

Addi cocked her head curiously. "Really? What was it?" she grinned, shifting to see him better. Her mind was already busy speculating endless possibilities as she waited for his answer.

[Eos]

"I was just thinking about one of my half-brothers," he told her with a shrug.

Addi grinned, inching forward curiously.

"You have real siblings? I didn't know that.. What're they like?"

[Eos]

"I dunno," he told her honestly. "I've only met a few..."

((Oh yeah, I was thinking about giving Eos an evil older brother.... because there aren't enough bad guys in his life. xD))

Addi cocked her head contemplating that for a moment.

"I guess it would be difficult to keep track of them all... the gods don't seem particularly careful about it anyway" she said grinning sheepishly.

((Oh geesh the poor Man XD Isn't it enough he has an "evil" son and Eri driving him crazy here? XD Eh what the hey.. DO ET XD))

[Eos]

"Hey Addi... want a story about one of them?" he asked with a cheeky grin.


((Hey, hey Kiz isn't evil he's just a little.... BJAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAA almost with a straight face too. BHAHAHHAHAHAHA no no, he's evil. Plain. Evil.))

Addi's face lit up at the prospect of a story. If there was thing she loved more than music, it had to be stories.

"Yes please?" she squeaked happily, scooting closer once more.

((pffffff yeeeaaah he's evil... though man,,, that last Rp with him and Finn.. My wooord XD))

Eos chuckled. "Sure then...

In 1284, while the town of Hamelin was suffering from a rat infestation, a man dressed in pied clothing appeared, claiming to be a rat-catcher. He promised the townsmen a solution for their problem with the rats. The townsmen in turn promised to pay him for the removal of the rats. The man accepted, and played a musical pipe to lure the rats with a song into the Weser River, where all but one drowned. Despite his success, the people reneged on their promise and refused to pay the rat-catcher the full amount of money. The man left the town angrily, but vowed to return some time later, seeking revenge.
On Saint John and Paul's day while the inhabitants were in church, he played his pipe yet again, dressed in green, like a hunter, this time attracting the children of Hamelin. One hundred and thirty boys and girls followed him out of the town, where they were lured into a cave and never seen again.

Three children remained behind. One of the children was lame and could not follow quickly enough, the second was deaf and followed the other children out of curiosity, and the last was blind and unable to see where they were going. These three informed the villagers of what had happened when they came out of church."

Addi listened quietly, eyes wide with curiosity as Eos told her the story.

"What happened to the other children?" she asked looking a bit worried, hugging her knees.

"What happened to the other children?"

Eos' heart somehow leaped into his throat, and he choked on it. How did he fix this one? He had forgotten all about the not-happy ending. Well... when some people told it, yes, that could work.

"Sometimes people say," he started very quietly, almost murmuring to himself. "The townspeople paid him what they owed him, a little bit more actually, and they got the children back. Of course," he told her with a sheepish smile. Or they drowned in the river like rats...

Eos really hated his family sometimes.

Addi peered at him with a sort of sad smile.

"I do hope they did get them back... It seems so cruel to take their children because of money." she muttered sadly. "What was the man's name?"

"Maximillion," he told her without thinking. Then realized he probebly shouldn't have done that.
