A whole new world

Cedric closed his bedroom's door before walking through those echoing walls. This was a spectacular building with amazing portraits of the gods. He still was a bit in shock, knowing that there were actually other Gods beside his own.

He heard by his sponsor, Hermes, that there was a big library where he could find all sorts of books. Probably some about fire magic and his own family. He headed to that enormous room and got stunned by the amount of books there were on the many shelves. He walked through the corridors, soon finding the magic related ones and taking one called "Fire Magic I - Beginners".

He found a seat on one of the many tables and started to read the book, peacefully, adjusting his own glasses.

[Septima Severa]

Severa was seated at a table, reading up on advanced swordfighting techniques, mostly centered around footwork and feints. She could never quite get used to the heavy novels with hard covers as opposed to scrolls which easily rolled open, but she'd read most of the scrolls and had to get with the sturdy and ungiving 'books'.

She looked up at the scraping of a chair to find a new face had seated himself at another table. The boy looked oddly out of place, with strange stiff clothing, he certainly didn't look like anything that came from Haven, so he had to have come from Earth. She quickly glanced around to see if the librarian was near, Sylipha would surely have something mean to say to the boy when she saw him.

Convinced the Gorgon wasn't around Severa addressed the boy. "I haven't seen you around, so I'm just going to assume that you're new?"

Cedric was absort in the latin book. He just loved this language, it flew in his tongue so quickly, like the old English.

As he read about the fire magic and how to control it, he heard some words nearby. He raised his head to see a young woman adressing to him. He adjusted his glasses, looking at her, especially at her clothing. It looked like Ancient Greek. No, Rome, not greek. He took some time to answer her question and gave a small nod "Yes, I'm new here. Hermes was the one who invited me in." he explained, not closing his book.

Raivynne had been at the library for hours, she simply was going up and down every row of books and scrolls trying to find something that she hadn't already read. She grabbed her favorite mythology book and sat down in between the rows to open her book to begin reading, when she was interrupted by voices. Closing the book, Raivynne peeked her head around the corner to see Severa talking to some boy that she had never seen before.

Augustin slowly entered the library. It was dangerous, because if the librarian would relaise him, then he should leave imediatly. When he reached the first bookshelf, he breathed freely. He started to search a book about fighting, when he noticed Severa talking with someone who he never seen before, and Raivyne, watching them. He stepped near the girl.

"Hello, Raivynne. What's going on?"

Raivynne nearly jumped out of her skin, turning around she saw Augustin standing above her. Her face turned bright red she got caught spying on Severa and the new kid. "Hello Augustin. Nothing really....I'm not to openly introduce themselves to new people. So I thought I would watch them for a little bit and then hop in the conversation." Raivynne embarrassedly told the older boy. "What's up with you lately?"

Cedric heard some voices behind him and decided to turn around, only to see another young girl and a... what the hell was that? He knew that he would find different creatures in this place but THAT WAS A FREAKING ANGEL! An angel here? That was not possible.

He shook his head and blinked his orange eyes, noticing that the young girl seemed to be watching them for a while. He adjusted his glasses and decided to whisper. "Hmm hello?"

Raivynne jumped once more to see the new boy taking to her. She turned her attention towards him. "Hello..." Raivynne said embarrassed that she had been watching them in the first place.

"Nothing special. You know the end of this semester is coming and i have to search more books about fight. But thought for a boy is hard to enter to the library" he sighed. "We should say hello to them..." this was when the new boy relaised them. He seemed to be a bit surprised.
Augustin thought that probably the boy saw his wings, and that make him quite confused. That happened always with the new ones, who didn't knew about pegasuses human form.

"Khm" Augustin coughed. "Hello. I'm Augustin. Fifth year, and this is Raivynne."

Cedric gave a nod with his head, sign of a small bow, placing his hand on his chest while doing it.

He looked in amazement at the angel in front of him and noticed that his wings were black. Fallen angel, perhaps?

"Greetings Augustin. I'm Cedric Oswald, 4th year. And it's nice to meet you Lady Raivynne." he gave both a smile.

Raivynne blushed with the title "Lady" before her name. "Nice to meet you too, Cedric. But please there is no need for "Lady" in front of my name." She told Cedric embarrassed.

When Augustin saw Raivynne bushing, he took up the conversation.
"Khm" he coughed again. "I don't want to be rude Cedric, but you looks like that you want to ask me something. You looked me too strangely."

"Please Lady Raivynne, I insist." he said again with another bow. Turning his attention to Augustin he sweat dropped. "Yes, actually I wanted to ask what does an angel is doing at the Athenaeum." he asked, blinking his orange eyes behind his round glasses.

Raivynne blushed even more when he called her 'Lady Raivynne' once more. She almost broke out in laughter when he asked Augustin what an angel is doing in the Athenaeum. Placing a hand over her mouth to hide her giggles. Cedric had obviously not known much about the Athenaeum before coming here.

First Augustin looked to Cedric's big orange eyes, then when he thought again about what he just said he didn't know thet he should broke into a laught or cry. It was okay, if someone said that it's quite strange that he has wings, but an angel!
He chose to chuckle. He saw that Raivynne is having quiet fun too.

"No, Cedric, i'm not an angel. It would be quiet strange if an angel would be sponsored by a God in the Athenaeum, don't you think? No." He convulsed his head. "Didn't you heard about pegasis yet? You know, winged horses, who can actually transform into humans." After a second he just realized what he said. "But my mother was human. So yeah, i'm a half-horse. Half-horse, not angel." It was quiet fun to think about himself this way.

Cedric kept blinking his eyes to the winged man. "Yes, I've heard about pegasus. But I never thought that they had human forms!" he said in excitment "Indeed, it would be incredibly weird for an Angel to descend from the skies to fight for Gods. Ridiculious." he said, turning his attention to Raivynne "And are you human? Or my eyes are just being cheated?"

Raivynne grinned. "Yes your human eyes are being cheated." She pointed to the lantern around her waist. "I am a Lampad, a fire nymph and a servant to Hecate. If you look at this lantern filled with fire, this is my life. If it goes out, well I die and only I can put my fire out there is a certain way to do it." Raivynne smiled at Cedric. "WE have no other form we look as human as you do."

"But don't think that the fire will go out so easily." he adressed it to Cedric, then listened them talking. Then he noticed that Cedric didn't closed his book.
"What are you reading? It's latin, am i right?"

"Lampads...." Cedric rubbed his chin, thinking about that specie. Hermes had talked little about them. It seemed they could be also sponsored by Hades, the God of the Death. It just gave him the creeps but at the same time it was incredibly fascinating.

"Of course. If the fire was too fragil, Lady Raivynne was already dead." he said, perking at Augustin's question. "Oh yes, it's latin indeed. A book about fire magic." he smiled, showing off the book to the two creatures.

Raivynne rolled her eyes, hoping Cedric hadn't seen her do it. Her fragil...she had once come close to her fire going out but only once and since then she made sure never to be that weak ever again.

With the mention of fire magic, Raivynne ultimately perked back into the conversation. "Really? You know fire magic?" She looked at the book, remembering the familiar pages. She had read them as a first year.

[Septima Severa]

Severa watched the conversation silently, watching the new boy, Cedric, socialize with Raivynne and Augustin. She was a bit confused about the speech of Angels. She didn't particularly want to get in on the conversation, but she simply had to know!

"I don't mean to interrupt, but what on earth is an angel? I've head of Angeli, but it doesn't make sense, why would Augustin be an angelus, a messenger?" She looked quizzically at them, annoyed that they knew something she didn't.

((As a side-note, the word Angel was derrived from the Latin word Angelus which means messenger, which is why Severa is confused, she doesn't understand why Cedric thinks Augustin is a messenger))

Cedric nodded to Raivynne "Yes, fire magic is my speaciality." he said, snapping his fingers, a small flame appearing and soon disappearing.

He turned his attention to the first lady "Oh, yes Angels are known to be messengers. In this case, messengers of God. Well, at least the God I know." he tried to explain, a little embarrassed. "And they are representated by a human with bird wings, just like Augustin's. I'm sorry, I'm not used to this." he sweatdropped and scratched his head.

[Septima Severa]

"Showoff," Severa muttered annoyed, and slightly jealous, at the ease of which the boy produced a flame.

"Messengers of which God?" Severa continued to question? "Of Jupiter? Or Mars? But Mercury's the messenger, and his wings are on his head and heels? You do not make sense!" Severa threw her arms up frustrated, she HATED not knowing things, and this just did NOT make sense! "You are not used to what? Talking nonsense?"

"No" Augustin came back into the conversation. It was quite embarassing to him the angel-theme now. But he saw that Cedric can't really handle the situation, and Severa is getting angry so he started to explain. "You know, there are a lot of civilization in the world, and each have it's own culture and Gods. Just as mine, or your. But there is one which is different, named the Judaism. They belive in one, only one God. They think that this God - he didn't have different name - made the whole world. And this God have it's messengers, the angels. Of course there are fallen angels too. So this is the only great good power. And in the bad side, there is the evil one. Noone else, just these two." he said. He hoped that it was enough easy to understand, because even with all of those books that he had, he needed a lot of time to understand all from this culture.

"One God create the whole world? Why that's silly! One being could create and maintain an entire universe! Ridiculous!" Severa cried, not really thinking before she spoke. "And just one bad side? I suppose this God of theirs is the source of all good and they blame everything bad on the other? If I were Zeus I'd blast them for their nonsense!"
