So I think Ares should look badass, handsome, but also BLOODTHIRSTY and CRRRRAZY. Hm, maybe a blonde, I think that would be very different to usual Ares-looks, therefore it might work C:

The question is that if he will be blonde, than his skin have to be pale, and that would be quite strange, because he fights all day. (and does other things with Aphrodite that we don't talk about...)

Pretty short I should think, almost like a Roman cut? But then we would have to darken his hair a little =/

I think a reddish brown would be better. You don't want TOTALLY red eyes, but with a brown mixed in...it'd look......I don't know how to describe it. XD;
