It was another start of a new year, and the second year that it was to be opened with a dance party. I had all been Morph's idea of course, he'd figured that the students could use a bit of fun after such a stiff ceremony. And so for the second time the band of Satyrs had returned armed with music from all ages and some instruments that even Mnemosyne had no idea what they were.

There was the food and drinks department with Cook serving behind it, Mnemosyne just hoped he'd stay there and not escape to the dance-floor to harass poor Warriors, the Cook had a way of doing that. Either way she'd explicitly told him to put more drinks than alcohols and water on this time, and he'd grudgingly obliged, though indeed rather grudgingly, he'd be in a bad mood for the rest of the week for sure.

And now people were coming in en masse, in the most beautiful dresses and tunics and some in get-up of their past countries. She always loved seeing them all dressed up, and even the staff were attending in their best clothing.

Now if only things would go a little more smoothly this year...

Calla entered the ballroom, wearing the same dress she had worn the year before, but she didn't care. She didn't have very many dresses, and this one was her favourite. Tahi had had a fit when she found out what the Charis was going to wear. As she was getting ready, Aphrodite had popped in and let Calla hide her wings, but only for the night. It made the blonde girl happy, since usually it was hard to navigate through the crowded ballroom, especially now that her wings had grown quite a bit from the year before.

Walking through the crowds, she headed over to the drink table and noticed there was more than just water and alcohol. In addition, they were also separated so people wouldn't get confused. She smiled as she picked up a goblet of grape juice, looking over at the crowd and taking a sip. She had agreed to come, but she didn't expect to dance this time around. After all, she didn't have an interest in any of the males at the Athenaeum. But she would have a fun time chatting with her friends.

Cosette walked in to the ballroom slowly so not to trip over her own dresss. The great thing about long dresses was that no one could see she had sneakers on under it.

She scanned the room for a few people, Apollo wasn't there, but then again she didn't expect him to be... And neither was Kai, where was she? Cosette had given her a dress just for the ocassion. She did spot Calla, standing by herself.

That won't work. She tought to herself and walked over to her Charis friend. Who, to her surprise, didn't exactly look like a Charis at the moment.

"Calla!" She said hppily. "Where.. uhm, where are your wings? I-if you don't mind my asking."

Calla looked up and smiled. "Hello Cosette!" she said happily. She had hoped she'd see a couple people that she could chat with for awhile. "Oh? My wings? Well, they grew quite a bit from last year, so Lady Aphrodite let me hide them, just for tonight," she told her, showing the girl her back that held a pair of blue wings on her shoulderblades. "They'll be back when I wake up tomorrow."

"Oh that's.. pretty cool." She said staring at Calla's shoulder blades.
"So do the Olympians usually visit during Eisodos?" she asked totally not thinking of any god in particular.

Calla blinked and smiled slightly at Cosette. "Oh, it just depends on how busy they are, I guess. It was actually the Ceremony last year where I finally started talking to Lord Hermes," she told her. "I actually wore this same dress too..." Her expression went slightly dazed as she remembered that night; after a second, she snapped out of it, her face turning bright red.

"Oh that's nice," Cosette said, trying to hide that fact that what Calla just said made her VERY happy.

"Do ya' think he'll be here this year?" Cosette asked and stared at Cala's very red cheeks.

Calla looked down. "I don't particularily try to get my hopes up, because I'm scared that I'll be broken-hearted if he doesn't come," she said quietly, playing with her dress. She then looked up, smiling. "But why don't we talk about something else?"

"Oh sorry... I understand the not getting your hopes up thing. So are you excited for classes to start? I can't wait for my healing class, I hope I'm good at it, or at least don't fail miserably." Seti started chatting happily to keep Calla's mind off Hermes.

Calla laughed warmly. "Well, if nothing else, I can help you. I'm okay at it, but it's not my strongest suit. I'm much more practiced in Wind Magic and Archery," she explained. "Definitely two of my best classes."

Seti grinned. "Thanks, we'll see if I need tutoring." she laughed happily with Calla. "Hey, I'm taking archery too." she exclaimed. She was good at archery and she knew it, she had been shooting since before she had come to the Athenaeum.

Calla smiled. "Great! I'm happy to have another friend in it with me," she said, sighing quietly as she leaned back against the wall. She finished her grape juice and looked over at Cosette. "Do you want something to drink? I'm about to go get more juice."

Seti smiled when Calla refered to her as a friend. "Sure, I'll come with you." She said, and both girls walked over to the table holding refreshments.

Calla set hers on the table meant for empty goblets, and she picked up another one filled with grape juice. She took a sip and smiled slightly, looking up at everyone having such a fun time.

Cosette picked up a goblet with some sort of red fruit punch in it and stood silent beside Calla. She kept her eyes peeled for a certain god of music.

Calla giggled. "It's obvious you're watching for him," she teased, poking the Human girl's cheek. "And to think I was like you last year." She said it all playfully though, hoping she didn't offend the girl.

Cosette laughed as Calla poked at her.

"Is it really that obvious?" she asked. "I don't want him to know... but seeing as he's the god of prophesy... he probably knew before I did."

Calla smiled slightly. "He may be the God of Prophecy, but even the gods can be as dense as a brick wall. Hermes almost didn't believe me when I told him I had loved him for quite a long time," she told her, taking another drink.

Despite what she had said earlier about not letting herself hope he would come, the Charis's eyes were sweeping the room when Cosette wasn't looking. She then smiled at the girl again and then looked out at all her friends having fun.
