Eri sneaked along the hallways of the Athenaeum as carefully as possible. It was 3 am and she was supposed to be asleep, but she had gotten a terrible craving for a snack and simply couldn't be asked to stay in bed.

She had dressed as a boy, tucking her long hair up into a hat which was pulled low over her face to cover her eyes. "If anyone stops me, I'll jut pretend I'm a servant boy" she smirked as she trotted along quietly.

Finding the kitchen, she slipped inside quietly rubbing her hands together with a mischievous grin. "Now where do they keep the sweets in this place?"

"Inside the pantry, downmost shelves, the Cook hides them somewhere knew every few weeks but he's no match for my skills," Adelphie peeked around the corner, wide awake as usual. She was a nymph of the night, of course she wouldn't sleep through the most of it. "It helps when Cook likes you though," she added with a wink.

She'd been outside 'moonbathing' as she called it. It was about the same as sunbathing, except that for her it was the shine of the moon that made her feel energized and simply great. When she'd returned to try to get some sleep she'd seen Eri slipping into the kitchens. With the same Pleiad territory came good night-vision and it hadn't been difficult to spot the girl's unusual eyes, not something you easily forgot.

"Do you often dress like a boy Eri?" She asked curiously. "It's Eri right? Or was it Oni, no Oni was your brother right? The quiet one? Anyway it's a poor disguise when someone gets a look at your eyes, that's a dead giveaway. You could always find someone who could teach to to hide it with magic, that would make things a lot easier, I'd suggest Galene, she's been doing eye magic quite a bit but it does tend to be draining I believe, I've heard something like that."

She walked past the girl into the gigantic pantry and retrieved a jar of honey from the bottom of the shelf. Of course having hair acting like a huge white torch did help with finding her way. The glow of her eyes alone provided a nice glow, unfortunately her hair only turned real pretty in the moonlight.

She retrieved a spoon from where she'd hid it beside the honeyjar and ate a spoonful of the delicious honey. "I love honey, Cook's always complaining how I eat out his stash all the time, which may not quite be such a lie," she giggled. "Do you want some?"

Eri jumped at the sound of the older girl's voice letting out a very un-boyish squeal.

"Wh-wha? Oh!" she looked down at her clothes. "right.. Yeah I used to do it all the time back home. It was the only way to get to have some fun. Being a girl is such a bore back home. Yeah, I'm Eri, the tall one ya know?" she said grinning. She was very proud of the fact that she was a good two inches taller than her "older" brother.

At Alephie's mention of her eyes she subconsciously reached up to her red, left eye muttering. "Crap... I knew I forgot something... Usually I wear a colored glass lens over the red one." she said mentally cursing herself for forgetting and giving away her identity so quickly. "You won't tell anyone will you?" he said with a pleading look at the older girl.

"Honey?" Eri smiled and licked her lips. "Sounds yummy!... but... you wouldn't happen to have any... chocolate... in this place... would you?" she said looking very sheepish. Chocolate was a great luxury back home and she felt a bit guilty asking for it here.

"Nah, I won't tell, I'm not the telling kind," She knelt down peering into the darkness of the shelf, illuminated by her eyes, oh how she loved her eyes sometimes. "Hmmm, now where is it? Cook keeps the chocolate really hidden, it's a bit of a luxury and it has a lot of admirers. He usually closely monitors it, but I'll just say that I ate a chunk, aha!" She fetched a package of chocolate wrapped in a linen towel, broke off a piece and gave it to Eri. "Here you go!"

"So what were you saying about at home?" Adelphie asked curiously while fetching a spare spoon for the honeyjar. She left it on the counter, for if the other girl wanted to join in with the honey after she was done with her chocolate. "Is that natural anyway?" She motioned to the girl's eye. "Not that I'm really one to talk, with the glowing eyes and all, but my that is really fascinating..." She leaned closer to the girl taking a good look at her eyes. "Fascinating..."

"Hallelujah!" Eri squealed happily. "Thank you!" she said giving the older girl a tight hug before taking the chocolate and sucking on it contentedly.

Eri's mouth twitched a bit at the question about home, skating over the issue to the question about her eyes. "Oh!" she giggled taking off the hat with a flourish and pointing to the blue eye. "No its not very natural... We think it must be because of our mixed races... Our parents are a Lampad and a Dryad. Mommy is a dryad with bright blue eyes... but father's" she paused a bit to swallow at the mention of her father. "Father's are a dark red... he has to wear lenses in the real world... We think Oni's eyes are pink from the lightness of Mommy's eye combined with father's red... while mine are both dark and one completely red... like his." she finished, still sucking on the chocolate absentmindedly.

Adelphie giggled as the girl hugged her quite excitedly. "You're so very welcome, nothing better than some good bonding while doing things we're not supposed to." She scooped up some more deliciously sweet honey.

"Oh that makes sense, I read somewhere that opposite genetics don't always mix well, so that could explain it. Apparently when someone with really light skin mixes with someone with really dark skin they get babies with both colours, like cows!" She giggled again. "I think mum mustn't have been dark enough since she says my dad's a Nephela and they are usually very light-skinned"

"Your brother does have very nice pink eyes," Adelphie said with another giggle. "I bet he loves those!"

Eri was releived when Adelphie dropped the subject of her home an gave the young woman an enthusiastic, evil grin at the mention of Oni's eyes.

"Oh no." she laughed, licking the last of the chocolate off her fingers and bouncing over to help Adelphie in her quest to empty the honey jar. "He haaaates them....He takes a lot of teasing from other boy about them actually..." she said, suddenly becoming thoughtful. "I guess that' why he's so quiet. He was never one to fight back.... I did it instead" she grinned mischievously.

"I remember I broke a boy's nose once for calling him a girl." she said laughing at the memory. "My parents were none-too-pleased with such 'unladylike' behavior" she said mockingly, spooning a bit of honey into her mouth as a distraction.

"Oh, that's quite a backwards relationship," Adelphie noted. "Usually it's the brother protecting the sister. Perhaps that's why you also sometimes take the role of a boy?" took another spoonful of the honey. "And," she said through the honey in her mouth. "That may also explain why you're so energetic all the time, not that that's a bad thing of course."

"Oooh, really, you broke a nose? There must been a big mess, noses bleed a lot," she said as she just kept eating. "I can imagine your parents not being too pleased with that," she giggled.

"So, have you seen any nice boys around?" She asked curiously. "Besides our little friend Phrixos," she winked with another giggle.

"Actually....He tends to protect me more..." she said her smile faltering just a tad. "Hee hee I've always been the more energetic of the two of us." she giggled. "Oni and I recently discovered something about ourselves that we think may be part of the reason for our general... dispositions." she said with a grimace... "Weird stuff magic" she mused before noting that she had connected her boy's attire to the issue.

"Oh no" he said with a laugh "Nah.... I have... well... other reasons for dressing as a boy." she said dismissively.

"Yeah" she said grinning at the memory of the moment. "He cried like a baby... big wuss... he was a year older than us too." she giggled.

"Ugh Phrixos" he said wrinkling her nose "Foul little pretty-boy" she sniffed. "Unfortunately, no I haven't really met any other men so far.... well.. I met miter Cedric briefly.... but that's it." she shrugged with a pout. "Know of any good ones?" she asked, nudging the older girl's arm teasingly.

"Oh really? I wouldn't have expected that," Adelphie was honestly a bit surprised. "He seems rather weak," she whispered, as if there was anyone who could overhear.

"Wait," Adelphie said slowly. "You discovered something? May I ask what, it sounds mighty interesting?" She leaned on her tip-toes in anticipation, she loved interesting things.

"He is pretty," Adelphie said with a sly smile, choosing to disregard the comment about dressing like a boy as it wasn't too interesting to her. "Hmm, well I don't pay too much attention to boys as Zeus is the only one for me, but I'm never out for some boy talk," she giggled. "Hesperos is certainly handsome, he's my mentor. And Kal I suppose, but he's like my uncle, so thinking about him that way is too odd! Oh, and there's a handsome red-head running around loose it seems, or so they told me in the bathhouse."

"Oh no" Eri said with a giggle. "He's just very shy... no he's really much stronger than I am for all my big talk... I'm the better swordsman... but he has a much stronger... nature... I guess you could say. Maybe that's not the right word..." she said sucking on the spoon as she thought.

"Oh... that..." Eri fidgeted uncomfortably. "Well.... Oni's always had healing abilities... though in order to heal he has to give away some of his own life-force...." she said, wincing at the memory of that particular discovery. "Aaaand..." she looked at Adelphie for a moment, trying to decide whether or not to tell her.

"It turns out I have the power to... well drain living things of their life-force... we think I must be drawing life from my surroundings subconsciously all the time.. which would explain why I'm so.. well hyper." she said sheepishly. "Oni's tendency to give life away may be part of why he tends to be quieter and a bit frailer in some aspects...."

Breathing a sigh of relief when she did not as for more information about her strange pastime, she happily latched onto the subject of boys.

"Zeus?" she said with surprise. "The king of the gods guy who's always cheating on Hera?" she wrinkled her nose. "Isn't he kinda old by now?"

She listened to the names Adlephie rattled off. "Well, they sound lovely," she said uncertainly. "But isn't there anyone my age?" she said looking out of the corner of her eye.

"Oh is he? Now that's something to keep in mind, I suppose things aren't always what they seem," she said with a sly smile. He had really seemed generally weak to her. "Stronger in nature, hm? Seems like a bad pun to me," she said with a laugh.

"Oh..." Adelphie mentally stored that fact also. So that is why he'd seemed so hurt that night she'd caught him in the experiment. Hart-burn my ass, she thought. "He gives and you drain, seems like the perfect combination to disaster," she noted.

"Oh, Hera," she said in disgust. "She's a vixen! She totally tricked pimpmaster into marrying her, batting her eyes and pretending to be such a sweet maiden! Don't go pitying that b***h." She giggled at the thought of pimpmaster as hip. "As hip as the beginning of time, or near that hip anyway. But I assure you, he still very much let his looks and charm."

"Your age? I've actually not met many first years yet, and Phrixos is sooo not your type," she giggled at the idea.

Eri giggled. "Yeah I guess that does sound like a stupid play on words, doesn't it?" She shrugged. "I just couldn't think of anything better." she grinned.

"Yeeeaaaah...." she said quietly, her eyes misting just a tiny bit. "He tries too hard to help people... To help me... all I can do is hurt people" she said looking down at her hand in disgust, thinking of her own run-in with Oni's power, not so long ago. She still had the scar from that...

Eri was rather surprised at the hip girl's venom toward Hera. "Hey, I never said she was great or anything" she said holding her hands up defensively. "In my opinion, all these gods and goddesses are highly overrated. They just seem like a bunch of powerful busy-bodies with a LOT of time on their hands." she said recounting all the myths she had read as a child, when such things had interested her.

She wrinkled her nose in disgust. "That little git?" she snarled. "He may be gorgeous, but he's about as charming as a pit of snakes" she sniffed, turning her nose up in an effort to look high and mighty.

Adelphie giggled. "A little but you are quite forgiven, don't you worry." She sighed at Eri's next words, however. "Oh don't think of it that way! Unfortunate abilities do not mean you are useless! And it doesn't sound like Oni's powers are a party either." No, sacrificing yourself to heal others did not seem like a great thing at all, not for Adelphie at least.

"I'd advise you not to speak so harshly of them quite so loudly," Adelphie said in a whisper. "They may always be listening when you least want it. But in any case, if you were as hip as they were I should imagine they'd have much time on their hands. And a mortal life must seem so very short to them, don't blame them for their wrong-doings, I can assure you most of the mortals they messed with had it coming anyway."

"Hmm, I don't know, I think he's rather interesting," Adelphie said with a lop-sided smile, but giggled at Eri's impersonation. "Though, given, he's got a lot of confidence for a boy that short."

"No... his power is definitely a burden to him" she sniffled, again thinking of all he had gone through for her. "I owe him so much"

Eri rolled her eyes. "Be that as it may," she snarled, " I refuse to bow to an authority that treats we mortal with such contempt and cruelty." she flipped her long hair aside. "If they were really 'higher beings' they would not do such things to us for no reason other than for their own enjoyment. As far as I'm concerned, they can just keep to them-bloody-selves."

"Hmph" Eri sniffed, not wanting to admit that she couldn't help but find him attractive in an obnoxious way. "The little mousy twerp still owes me a fair fight" she growled.

"You... owe him?" Adelphie repeated, cocking her head in puzzlement. "Would you mind elaborating?"

"And be as that may," Adelphie responded equally harshly. "They are still being with absolutely power, and absolute power is to be respected." She crossed her arms. "Besides, we were made in their image so it is only natural that they should have the same faults we do. Some of them more than others." Adelphie thought of Hera, that awful woman.

Adelphie shrugged. "I'm sure you won't be deprived of that, the two of you almost attacked each other that night. Just be sure to leave him whole, will you?"

Eri sighed, taking another spoonful of honey, not answering until she had licked the spoon clean. "Oni is the reason I'm still alive... If it weren't for him, I would be dead now" she stated flatly, looking resolutely at the wall. "I caused him great pain... and I'll never be able to repay him for it.."

Eri rolled her eyes "Whatever" she grumbled. "I could care less about them and their expectations or need for entertainment or whatever it is... I'm here for other reasons that to 'please the gods'" she muttered, her eyes distant as she traced the pattern in the grain of the wood on the counter with the handle of her spoon.

Eri finally smiled a mischievous grin again. "Oh don't worry, I'll behave so long as he does. I just enjoy battle. They're what I live for these days. Back home I had to beg and beg father before he finally let me learn to use a dagger... and then a sword... and later, my glaive..." her eyes became sad again. "But he never truly approved of..." she trailed off again.

"Anyway," she said with a grin, peering at the Pleiad from under her long bangs. "What about you? What brings you to Athenaeum?"

((To lazy to edit, I guess this evens things out as earlier this evening I replied with Adelphie as Ruairi xD So pretend this is not a big burly ginger she's talking to >.> ))

Adelphie listened closely, sucking on her spoon to get every single molecule of honey in her mouth. She jumped on top of one of the counters, letting her legs dangle and setting the jar beside her so that Eri could still get her sweet-fix. "Tell me," she said softly. "It helps when you tell someone what's on your mind." And it totally doesn't feed her own ulterior motives, nope, not at all.

Adelphie chose not to answer the girl, instead taking another spoonful of honey. It was best to not fight with her as she was far too curious for the girl's story. Plus, she came from a time on Earth without the Gods, of course she needed time to adjust and face the amazing Zeus was.

"But he's not here to disapprove now is her?" Adelphie said brightly. "Here we're a lot more open about that sort of thing since, you know, it's all about the tournament anyway. Though I like to think of the tournament as just a mandatory thing, it's really all the socializing that I like. But I'll do my best for my lord anyway."

"Oh, me? I've always been here," she said with a short giggle. "Mnemosyne's my mum, so I grew up in the Athenaeum."

Eri sighed again twirling the spoon between her fingers in a nervous sort of way. "I nearly got myself killed recently" she stated bluntly. "I could literally feel my consciousness slipping away from me" she looked at her reflection in the spoon in contempt. "I was stupid." she spat out harshly. "I let the wrong committed by others get to me. Almost killing both myself and my brother was the price I paid." she said sourly, bending the spoon in half without thinking.

Eri was relieved to see that the older girl had dropped the subject of the gods. She had no patience for such pathetic beings. "Thank God he's not here" she muttered mutinously. "I never ant to see his face again, unless its to punch it." she bit her lip, annoyed with herself for saying too much. Perhaps Oni has a point... she thought to herself. I need to learn to shut my mouth.

"Mnemosyne is your mother?" she said in surprise. "funny... I don't see any resemblance" she grinned mischievously. "Lucky you.... must be nice to live here..."

"Now always the smartest thing to do," Adelphie noted, though she did realize that sounded rather blunt. "I'm sorry, I'm sure it must have been traumatic in the very least. But you don't owe him anything except for your love, or so I think. It was a very chivalrous thing to do, yes, but he would have done it even if you'd have tried to stop him I'm sure. Therefore there isn't anything you owe." At least that was how Adelphie thought, she always always thought that you only owed someone when their favor is one of your choice.

"Oh. Your father you mean? Why should you speak so harshly of him?" She asked with her big innocent eyes on.

Adelphie nodded. "Well I don't know who my father is, but I must resemble him then? But look, she grabbed a strand of hair and pointed at it. "I've got the two-toned hair like my mother, and my brother and sister have it to. Or, we think my sister has it, she's too little to make much out but I did think I saw some colour change in that hair," she smiled, she did love her siblings. "I was supposed to be a Nephela but lady Artemis blessed me into becoming a Pleiad, one of her own nymphs, which got me my eyes and hair, it was all rather complicated and unnatural." She shrugged, that's the way things simply were.

"Oh it's been really great to live here! You get to meet so many people from different places! Except my friends always left after some time," she said with a sad smile. "This," motioning to her used-to-be-sari. "Comes from a girl from earth too, she left me a bunch of these beautiful robes as she had had to go back anyway."

Eri turned to look at the older girl, her face stony. "Either way, I owe him." she said frankly. "If nothing else, he needs protection as well... in a way." she smiled a bit. "He was never much of a fighter you see" she grinned. "So if nothing else, I can protect him that way." she grinned.

At the question about her father, Eri stiffened. "Let just say, the two of us have never been close.... that is to say, he hates me.... and the feeling is mutual." she said glaring at the wall.

"Your hair and eyes are quite lovely" Eri smiled looking at the strange way the girl hair changed color towards the bottom. "And your night vision must be quite handy on these night-time excursions, I imagine." she said grinning mischievously.

"Its beautiful." Eri said eying the girl's beautiful clothing. "I wish I were allowed to wear things like that at home. It looks so much more comfortable than what I wear." she cocked her head, in thought. "Not that I don't like my pretty dresses though" she said winking. "But they can be tricky to fight in... they're rather heavy and a bit... restricting." she said sheepishly.

Jane was padding through the hallways, unable to sleep, when she heard voices. She froze for a second, listening to them. Two, no three, people, two female and one male. After a minute she forced herself to relax. It was just the Athenaeum. She wasn't at home, where this could really be dangerous. How bad could it be?

She stepped forward, slower than she had been going, and the voices separated into words. Jane peered around the corner for a second before stepping out, these people all looked like students and she probably wouldn't get in trouble for being out late if all of them were as well. So she continued walking, approaching the others hesitantly. "Hello," she breathed, her voice quiet.

Eri's head snapped around to see a dark-haired young woman peeking into the kitchen. She grinned at the new arrival warmly. "You can't sleep either miss?" she asked, beckoning her forward.

"C'mon in.. We're raiding cook's stash of sweets" she said with a wink, shrugging off the jacket of her boy's clothes and tossing it over a chair before swiping another spoonful of the honey she and Adelphie had absconded.

"Sleep is rather hard to come by when you're used to waking up at all hours to go run around," she said, stepping forward and looking at the honey curiously. When she came from, bees had, unfortunately, gone extinct for the most part, except for one or two colonies that were swiftly dying out, and she'd never tasted real honey before. "Is that honey?"
