Re: Hungry..... as always
[ xD That works, it's hard to keep track of some of these things. ]
She took the spoon, dipping it into the honey curiously. "Jane Aire, at your service." Jane was used to introducing herself this way, and she stared curiously at the honey. Then she touched it hesitantly with her tongue.
"Mmmm," she sighed, staring at it. "It's even better than everyone said..." Jane then proceeded to stick the spoon in her mouth, rolling her eyes and closing them. "I don't think I've ever tasted anything so good..." she mumbled around the spoon.

Eri tried, in vain, to stifle her giggle at the older girl's reaction. "Pleasure to meet you, Jane." she said grinning widely. "I take it you like the honey?" she asked scooping up another spoonful to suck on as she watched the older girl.

"Mm, I do now," she said, sucking the last off her spoon and taking it out of her mouth so that she didn't have to speak around it. "I've never had it before, it's rare and expensive when I come from..."

"Is it really?" Eri said with surprise, turning to eye the golden stuff on the spoon with suspicion. "Its not too rare in my time.... chocolate is though" she said, her eyes getting a sort of dreamy, far off look. "Ooooh I just loooove chocolate." she said licking the honey, as she continued to moon over her memory of the little chunk of chocolate she had eaten just minutes before.

"Good chocolate's rare as well," she said a little mournfully. "But not as rare. It's easy to get the cheap stuff though, but you can really taste the difference." Jane thought of what a life would be without chocolate, and realized that it was probably, to Eri, what life would be like without honey.

"yummm" the lampad sighed, still sucking on the spoon though there was no more honey on it. "Why can't chocolate be less rare?"
Suddenly she stopped, the spoon dropping rather comically from her mouth "Wait a minute.... Chocolate comes from a plant .... right?" she said staring off int the distance.

"I believe so, yes," Jane said, dipping her spoon in the honey again so that she could lick it as she spoke. "But the actual bean that it's made of is extremely bitter and quite disgusting. You have to add lots of sugar and process it a little to make it worth eating at all. Though the raw stuff can be good for cooking..."

Re: Hungry..... as always
"Hmmm" Eri said, grinning in a manner not unlike the Cheshire cat. "I may have to ask Oni about growing some of those plants then... Maybe I could make my own chocolate!" she said with an extremely strange mixture of Cheshire grin and a look of dreamy mooniness plastered on her face.
"I would do it myself... but my earth magic isn't very good yet... Oni's is much better it." she said scooping up more honey and flopping down to sit on a nearby bench.

"You'd have to add all that sugar and stuff..." she said doubtfully. "But I don't really know much about chocolate. I guess you could try, then." Jane shrugged, sucking on her honey. She might not want to go back, just because of honey, and if she did she'd save up all the time to try and buy some...
"Does honey ever go bad?"

Eri cocked her head, wrinkling her nose in thought. "Hmmm You know I'm really not sure. I imagine it would.... I mean it comes from bees right?... We should ask Oni... he'd probably know..." she said.

"Hmm...but somehow I doubt he's awake at this hour," she said with a sigh. "I'm surprised to find anyone awake, really."

Eri laughed. "Generally you'd be right, but don't be to sure. Back home I used to find him up at all hours of the night with his nose in about twenty different books. But yes, he i generally a very... er...health-oriented boy." she said grinning and leaning her head back on the table behind the bench she had flopped onto.
"I, on the other hand, prefer to enjoy life." she said with an only slightly evil grin.

Jane was slightly confused about the books thing. She knew that Eri just meant that he was reading about twenty different books, but the idea of his one nose in twenty books...was just odd.
"What do you mean, health-oriented?" she asked.

Eri grinned "He tends to focus on the his own health as well as that of those around him.... Our father," she said the word with only a little venom, "was not at all happy when Oni decided he didn't want to inherit the company... He wanted to study medicine instead..."
She stopped for a moment, her eyebrows knitted in thought. "Its not that he isn't capable of running the railroad or that he isn't knowledgeable about the trade... in fact, Oni and I have designed and built some fun things together in past.. but his interest in steam technology and the company was... well.... dissuaded." she said with an awkward grin.

Re: Hungry..... as always
Steam technology? Ah yes, some of the people she knew played with the old steam concepts as a hobby...
"Personally," she said, tilting her head to the side. "I think medicine's a much more useful thing to look into. Other people are certain to want to get places faster and make money doing it, but they're usually reckless and will need someone there to fix them up when they make stupid mistakes. So that sounds like a pretty good choice to me."

Re: Hungry..... as always
Eri's smile faltered for half a moment. Jane had just described her perfectly. Unlike her level-headed brother, she was prone to rash and foolish decisions.
Though she had every capability of intelligence, she had not been allowed to learn all the things her brother had. She had taught herself many, many things over the years and had disguised herself as a boy on more than one occasion to earn the right to learn the family business she so desperately longed to be involved in.
However, her father's continual disapproval had eventually snuffed out her love of learning and replaced it with her current reckless, defiant attitude.
She forced herself to maintain her grin. "It was a good choice. He'll go far I'm sure." she said only slightly bitterly.

[ Oo;; I didn't mean it like that! I was just kind of...rambling! D: ><;;; ]
Jane noticed something out of funk with the other girl, and she quickly thought over what she'd just said. "Not that that's a bad thing, or anything," she said, only a little awkwardly, "It's just that people will always want to move forward. It's nature."

Re: Hungry..... as always
[I know you didn't XD Eri just noticed that Jane's description matches her very well. She has some recklessness/anger issues and they got her into some major trouble in the past... Oni is the reason she's still alive.]
Eri smiled crookedly. "I guess so... It's still probably better to be level-headed and cautious." she said with a shrug.

[ Okay ><; At least she is still alive xD ]
"Well..." Level-headed and cautious... "You could say that, but we wouldn't get anywhere without taking risks. I mean, it's good to have an idea of what you're doing and stuff first, but if it weren't for people dashing off and doing idiotic things, we wouldn't have nearly so many things that we do today...well, in my time at least, and throughout history. I'm a risk-taker myself, just not in the frontier of technology..."

[Indeed XDDD]
Eri giggled, her usual cheerful self again. "Good point." she said thinking that over a bit. "I suppose things would come to a stand-still if it weren't for the reckless idiots in the world," she said shooting a grin at Jane. "I guess it takes all types."

"It certainly does," she said, nodding. "Otherwise the world would be quite a boring place. Don't you agree?"
