*sigh* Study time
Eri had been struggling with a book on battle tactics for a few hours. Reading had always been a boring occupation for her, except when it involved tales of daring sword-fights, princesses, sorcerers, and pretty heroes.
She had tried every couch in the student lounge in multiple positions, but her mind was far too tempted by the lake and gardens outside to focus. She had finally settled for lying sideways across one of the large armchairs in a most unladylike fashion as she struggle to maintain her focus on the battle tactics in the book.
"I don't see what's wrong with just wingin' it" she muttered, rolling her eyes. "hmph I can't believe Oni is making me study when there's so much to see here!"
She hesitated, looking around to be sure there was no-one there, before she quietly slipped a fantasy novel out of a hidden pocket in the folds of her skirt and settled own to read it.. "Just for a minute," she told herself. "Just a bit of a break." she mused already far, far away in her fairytale world.

Helene crossed the longue fast as she always. She doesen't spent a lot of time in it-she thought it's a waste of time.
"That's not fair.."she murmured to herself."There's nobody to challange."

Eri was jarred from her fairytale world by an hip girl, whom she had never met, rushing past her in quite a hurry. "Hmm... pleasure to meet you too" she muttered, sinking farther down into the chair, in the most unladylike way possible, returning to look at the pretty illustrations in her book.

Re: *sigh* Study time
Wandering through the lounge made Tahi a little wistful. It was only a year ago that she too was a student here. She looked at a large armchair, where she had often taken over sewing.
Now it was occupied by a younger girl reading- an unfamiliar young girl - meaning she had to be a first year. And judging by the lantern at her waist - she was a lampad. Tahi wandered over to her. "Studying hard?" she asked in a playful voice, taking in the illustrations of the book. A fantasy. Tahi grinned - now here was a girl after her own heart...

Re: *sigh* Study time
Eri stiffened for a moment at the new voice, looking up guiltily from her book to see a very stylish and pretty lady with long hair standing before her. She hurriedly sat up hiding the book behind her back. "N-not exactly" she said with a guilty grin at the young woman.
The woman looked like she must be of some importance, so Eri dug into her memory attempting to remember how to properly address those in authority. She finally remembered and stood to give a small, lightly wobbly curtsy [she had never been much good at those] before saying, just slightly too boisterously for a proper young lady, "I am Eri Iris, a first year Lampad Milady."

Re: *sigh* Study time
Tahi grinned at Eri - noting the exuberance in her voice. She rolled her eyes - "Please don't stand on ceremony on my account," Tahi said with a laugh, flopping onto one of the couches, with the innate grace of a nephelae. "My name's Tahirah - but my friends call me Tahi. I'm Hestia's co-mentor along with my elder brother Kal." She gave Eri a mischevious look. "But don't let the title fool you - I just got out of the tournament myself. I still feel like just one of the gang," she said, surveying the room fondly.

Re: *sigh* Study time
Eri smiled broadly as the young woman's words, flopping back into the chair quite boyishly. When she mentioned her position, Eri's mouth dropped open. "Hestia? Then, that means your my mentor!" she said happily.

Re: *sigh* Study time
Tahi's smile widened. "Excellent!" She exclaimed happily. Taking a closer look at the girl Tahi could definitely see why her Lady had chosen the girl. There was a fire in her - that was clear.
"Well," Tahi said sheepisly, "i've never been a mentor before - so I can't guarantee I'll have all the answers, but you're always welcome to come to me if there's anything you need." Tahi winked at her. "I AM the athenaeum's prime gossip and fashionista."

Re: *sigh* Study time
At the words gossip and fashionista, Eri jumped up to bounce over to the older girl chirping happily. "Fashion? Gossip? Excellent!" She couldn't believe her luck! A mentor who loved clothes and gossip and fun! Best of all, she didn't seem to mind Eri's tomboyish tendencies.

Re: *sigh* Study time
Tahi smiled back at the girl, just as happy. "I'm glad my lady chose such a great student! I have a feeling we're going to get along very well!" Tahi giggled. "So, have you met any of the other first years yet? I'm afraid I've been so busy with Esiodos I haven't had a chance to meet them?"

Re: *sigh* Study time
"Well there's my brother of course" she giggled perching on one of the arms of the sofa Tahi was inhabiting. "and I met a centaur girl named Aazzi... she's very improper like me" she giggled again. "Oh!... and the there was this obnoxious little blond boy at the Ceremony... Phrixos I think his name was." she made a face. "We didn't get along too well."
((Lemme know if you don't want me to introduce Phrixos. I thought I heard somewhere that Tahi doesn't know about him yet or something. I can edit him out if you need me to. Or even just his name if you like))

Re: *sigh* Study time
Tahi listened interested, grinning at the thought of another improper women. "Someone once said that well behaved women rarely make history," Tahi said with a grin. "And I firmly believe in misbehaving," she added with a wink.
"And boys are ALL obnoxious at that age - I suspect even my brother was. Don't worry - he'll grow out of it. Though there are worse ones than others. Zeus and Ares have a habit of picking nasty ones for sure. The more important thing is, was he good looking?" She asked with an impish look on her face.
((It's okay to introduce Phrix - She knows of him but she doesn't know he's her brother (and there's no way Eri would know that either, so we're good)))

Re: *sigh* Study time
((Oh ok! Excellent! I shall continue then X3))
Eri grinned at Tahi's words. Oh this woman was definitely the best mentor she could ask for. Finally, someone who wouldn't try to force her to be a lady.
A nearly undetectable blush appeared on Eri's cheeks at that last comment. Sure Phrixos was pretty, but admit that she found the obnoxious little twerp attractive?... Never. "I suppose he's pretty enough for a short little mouse" she said flipping her hair and wrinkling her nose. "but he definitely needs an attitude adjustment." she said with a decisive nod.

Tahi smiled. "It's a boy thing... He'll grow out of it eventually, and that's when he'll get really interesting." She winked. "But what about your brother? Is he older or younger than you?" Tahi thought of her own brother... "Mine's older - and he can be a right pain - but I love him anyways."

Re: *sigh* Study time
"I suppose he could" Eri sniffed with false nonchalance. "Oh my brother?" she said cheerily. "He's my twin actually, though he's technically older than me" she said stifling a giggle. "I'm taller than he is, though" she grinned.

Re: *sigh* Study time
Tahi gave a fake pout. "Lucky... I wish I were taller than my brother - it might stop him from chasing off every guy I happened to like." She paused, thinking about Eos. "Though that may be changing soon..." Tahi's smile turned secretive - more like the Mona Lisa.

Eri smiled an evil smile. "Oooooh? Is that so now?" she chirped from her perch, grinning like a particularly smarmy cat. "And who's the lucky man?" she grinned.

Re: *sigh* Study time
Tahi raised an eyebrow at Eri. "Now, Eri - you've got to know a good gossip keeps the best secrets to herself." She laughed, and searched for a way to change the subject.
"So, is your brother my student as well?" She asked.

"Oh of course" she said, Tahi's discomfort at the previous subject going completely over her head. "He isn't as good of a fighter as I am.. but he's super smart." she said enthusiastically.

Re: *sigh* Study time
Tahi chuckled at the girl's enthusiasm. She definitely was fiery. Tahi slightly pitied Skulia - the fire magic teacher. All of that energy probably translated into powerful fire magic. "We all have our own talents. I myself am not much of a fighter - but my magic more than makes up for it. Knowledge can be as powerful of a weapon as the sword if wielded correctly."
Tahi paused and shook herself. "Listen to me," she said jokingly. "I must really be getting old to sound wise like that."

Re: *sigh* Study time
Eri giggled, swinging her feet off the side of the couch cheerily. "Nah" she said dismissively. "You're too pretty to be old."
She paused a moment, thinking about what Tahi had said -thinking about her own newly discovered and somewhat frightening ability. "I can see what you mean." she said slowly. "I've always been good with fire and with a sword and glaive and so on.... but my earth magic could definitely use some work" she admitted sullenly, remembering her somewhat failed attempts to produce flowers the other day.

Re: *sigh* Study time
Tahi gave the girl a warm look. Acknowledging one's flaws was definitely a sign of maturity absent in many of the younger students at the athenaeum. But again - Lady Hestia didn't pick infantile people to be her warriors now did she? Not that Tahi was biased or anything.
"Well that's why you're here," she said kindly. "If you didn't have anything to learn then why come?" Tahi stood up, watching the light fade from the window. "Oh!" She exclaimed suddenly. "I was going to go chase after my brother today. I must be going." She turned back to Eri apologetically.
"It was nice meeting you Miss Eri," she said with an extravagant courtesy. While Tahi didn't disapprove of tom-boyishness (except the kind exhibited by her former roommate Severa) nobody could claim she was anything but a girly-girl at heart. "I'll be seeing you around, I'm sure. And don't forget - if you ever need me - you can always whisper my name into the wind. I've got excellent hearing," she added with a mischievous grin. "Farewell!"
With that Tahi left, off to find her brother...
((Code for it's Midnight Angela's time and she's going to bed...))

Re: *sigh* Study time
Eri jumped to her feet, risking another curtsy to her new friend. "Thank you Milady!" she bubbled, watching the older girl leave. Now she could almost convince me to try being more girly She thought to herself with a grin before settling down onto the couch once more, picking up the discarded battle tactics book with a sigh.
"Hello gorgeous" she muttered mutinously before burying her nose in the assigned reading once more.
((That's OK. I gotta head to bed soon too... I should probably already be in bed but eh *shrugs* Have a good night! ))
