Adonia sighed. "Well... its kind of a long story... When she first approached me, asking me to fight for her... i-it was right after the second.." she swallowed hard, unable to say 'second killing', hoping he would understand what he had meant.

"S-she had said she would take away the curse in my voice just for coming... so that I wouldn't have to worry about killing a fellow student... but once she got me here, she decided that I had to actually win the tournament...." she swallowed again.

"I doubt she'll keep her promise in the end."

Not really thinking, she allowed her head to rest on the demi-god's shoulder as his hand ran through her hair.

"Pfft, probably won't go through with it. They're like that, ya' know? Most of their promises are empty," he said then realized he had probably crushed the poor girl's hope. "Well I don't know, some of them are good about it. Apollo had an oracle who didn't like her 'gift' and he got rid of it for her." He half-lied, er twisted the real story.

He looked down and saw htat her eyes were half-closed. He didn't mind her leaning on him. It felt natural, he wouldn't begrudge Alana falling asleep on his lap, and realized he felt teh same with Adonia.

((Alana is his grandaughter... :3 He's becoming fond of Adonia.))

Adonia smiled sleepily, giving a faint laugh at his words. "No, I don't imagine she will," she admitted sadly.

"Did he really?" she responded only slightly surprised. "I admit, some of the gods don't seem so bad.... I just haven't been fortunate enough to meet some of the decent sort yet" she giggled.

As she sat there with her new teacher, her head still on his shoulder; she bit her lip a moment, a question floating in her mind that she hesitated to ask. Finally, stifling a yawn, she asked quietly, "S-sir?... What's it like to have a family?"

She knew she shouldn't ask, but she had never had a family of her own and could not help but be curious. On the rare occasions that she had swum to the mainland to watch the people go about their lives, she had always noticed the families and vaguely wondered if she had or would ever had one herself.

((Awwwww that's so sweet of him ;w; I think she may finally be getting over her initial fear of him too. he he sorry she asks such difficult questions. She's such a curious little thing ;w;))

He felt a little bad for giving Adonia the idea that Apollo was anything less than an *ss. But, not like she would ever find out.

Eos blanched when he heard his student's latest question.

"Well it's kind of like the happiest you've ever been in your life and the most depressed, both ends of the spectrum, not at once, but sometimes all the time." He thought about his answer for a second and realized it was complete crap. He made no sense what-so-ever."If that.. makes any sense."

Adonia could feel her teacher tense next to her, and looked up to see his slightly pained expression. "I-I'm sorry sir.." she said quickly, looking down at the ground once more, turning a bit pink in her embarrassment.

"I-I shouldn't ask such things.... For what its worth, it does make some sense to me.... I used to swim t the mainland sometimes to watch the people and their families from a distance... They had their troubles and squabbles to be sure... but they still seemed... happy together" she mused, her eyelids drooping slightly.

Eos smiled at Adonia to let her know not to worry.

"It's great though... I think if I wasn't me a family would be nicer. They make you crazy in a good way, and very happy if you do it right." He sighed, he had kind of F-ed his chances up.

He looked at her and saw that she looked tired.

"Adonia, want help getting to the building? You look tired..."

She was slightly surprised to see her teacher smile at her. She couldn't recall if she had ever seen him truly smile before, but the effect was pleasant.

"But why if you weren't you?" she asked peering up at him sleepily. "I would think you deserve a family as much as anyone else does..." she said, her voice trailing off as she struggled to keep awake.

"I-I'm all right sir" she said stifling another yawn and smiling sleepily. "I think I just stayed out here a bit too long.... funny... I guess I got a particularly potent one this time."

Deserve a family... he had one once, it was the only time he was truely happy to the very bottom of his soul, but it didn't last long. And after it broke he felt worse than he ever had. He shrugged haveing no way to explain it. It was immortality too, he was afraid to feel a connection wiht people who would die, and leave him alone again.

"Come on then," he said as he sat up slowly, careful not to jostle Adonia too much. He offered his hand to help her up.

Adonia took his hand, and got up just a bit unsteadily. "Thank you sir," she yawned, looking blearily at his hand a moment before asking. "How's you arm by the way?"
She glanced at the arm in question, wondering if it had caused him any pain since their little scuffle with a magic-wielding monster in the dungeon.

"Hmm? Fine, a new scar to add to my collection," he said of the arm that now had a new scar. Eos watched her wobble for a second, then held her up with an arm around her waist.

He raised an eyebrow and smiled, holding in a chuckle, as her head bobbed a little, with her eyes half-closed.

"Oh good.." she replied sleepily as he put his arm around her waist to steady her. She looked up at him very sleepily. "You're laughing at me" she said giving him a falsely pouty look, as she struggled to stay focused.

((Pfff poor thing is really out of it isn't she? XD ))

Adonia gave him a playful glare before giggling at the absurdity of the whole situation.
"I suppose this is what I get for being snippy with you and poking around in your arm the other day huh?" she said slyly, leaning on him for support as they continued toward the main building.

"Very eloquently put sir" she giggled. "I'll remember that one." She continued walking along with him a moment before timidly asking. "When you were um... shall we say, in a similar state the other day... Did the ground tip back and forth?"

He rolled his eyes, remembering that most of this would be fuzzy, at best, to her tomorrow.

"Uhm.. not that I can remember," he told her. And for the first time since coming to the Athenaeum he considered using his powers. It would look rather weird if anyone saw a mentor walking, or carrying a student, into her room after dark. ((Pedo.)) If he just slowed her heart beat and breathing, but sent her body on the way it would be like she was sleepwalking. And not like she would remember... Would she mind very much? He asked himself.

Adonia groaned in irritation. "Just my luck to react to a sleep med with dizziness" she said rolling her eyes.

Noticing his silence, her ears twitched a bit as she asked "Something on your mind sir?"

"Nothing," he said quickly. ((I just imagined him like in manga's when they use animal ears to express emption... yeah XD And yeah she is, why you make everything so difficult ADONIA!!?? XD)) He kept walkin gher toward the main building, still not wanting to use his power. Just hoping no one saw... and that Tahi's winds weren't reporting certain things back to her.

Adonia noted the hastiness of his reply. She could practically feel the nervousness radiating from him "Are you sure sir?" she asked peering up at him with concern. "You seem... I dunno, stressed... Or at least more so than usual" she added with a grin, her feet dragging ever so lightly as he continued to walk along, now letting Eos lead her since it had become necessary to devote her entire concentration on the magic maintaining her skirt and on where she was putting her feet.

((Pffffff she can't help it! She's a curious little child in an adult body who needs supervising XDDDD Besides... Iva's meds have made her trippy XDD MWAHAHA Now you know how it feels to be on the other side of it Eos >333 Oooooooh my word, yes, Tahi might get annoyed. But then, she an Adonia have always gotten along fairly well so who knows? XD))

((Her skirt has always been made of water. Her leotard type stuff is actually thick scales that he can grow into whatever kind of clothing she wishes, which she usually combines with some article of clothing made from water. In this year's design, its a skirt. Share XDDD HAHAHA I guess we'll see, if it turns out that she finds out))

Adonia turned mildly pink "Oh bloody hell ((Good job Jack...)) I hadn't thought of that" she muttered, turning even more pink at his next question. "N-no I'm fine sir" she said, trying to push herself away from him to stand on her own, but encountering some resistance from her sleepy body.

Eos sighed, this was pretty useless.

"It's fine, hop on my back." He said becaue that would look just a little less weird than if he actually carried her.

Adonia turned quite pink at his solution, but complied, her head resting on his shoulder and her arms around his neck.

"I'm sorry sir... I should have been paying more attention to how this medicine was a-a-a-ffecting me." she yawned, enjoying the softness of his shirt. Thinking about the shirt made her think about the dungeon incident and his ruined shirt. "I'm sorry about that shirt too..." she said with a blush. "Is there any chance of fixing it?"

((hee hee her scales were less siren-esque, if you take my meaning, the previous year. She doesn't really understand the concept of showing too much skin, because she's lived alone so long. She's a prude, but a clueless one XDDD Awww she feels so bad for causing him trouble ;3; ))

He made sure he didn't turn his head when he answered her.

"No, I threw it out. Don't worry about it, it's just a shirt," he reasured her. Eos held her legs, making sure she didn't fall.

Adonia did not respond. She was too embarrassed over this whole thing to continue on... plus the world seemed to be swimming around her a bit as she struggled to stay awake for his sake. She contented herself with clinging to his neck for fear of falling as he carried her.

((Indeed she does... She can't help it that she's clueless, curious, and a teensy bit daft XD))
