Eos' breath came out in a huff. "Whaa?" That sentance did not sound like it sould come from Adonia.

He turned around, his cheeks a dark shade of pink.

Adonia stopped in her tracks and clapped a hand over her mouth, partially in horror and partially to try and hold in the burst of laughter she was trying desperately to swallow.

"I... er... that is...." she finally couldn't help herself and burst into a fit of ilvery giggle. The first truly genuine laugh she had had in a while. "I-Im sorry Eos," she said wiping a tear from her eye. "B-but it is true... you need a woman."

"Eh... a.. woman?" Of course he knew what she meant, but it was like Addi suddenly started spouting French.

"Jeez Addi.. and who would you suggest?" He joked but his face turned a deep shade of red.

A sly look crossed Addi's face. "Oooh I don't know... maybeeee Tahi?"

She had seen Eos put the necklace on her friend's door since, by a lucky chance, she had been about to see if Tahi was around so she could borrow some clothes from her to hide her bruises from everyone.

"I'm sure she's wondering who she has to thank for the gift on her door."

There was no use in denying it... because that would be lying.

"I... I.. er that is... Tahira's just a friend.. I mean.. it was her birthday.. or somtime this month... and I.. it's.." he stumbled over words and clung to them as if they could make all of this go away.

"Oh please Eos" she said with a knowing look, crossing her arms as she spoke. "I may be naive, but even I can tell you like her an awful lot."

She sighed before she spoke again. "You shouldn't hide it from her... Heaven knows if I hadn't hidden how I felt about Jack for as long as I did... maybe..." she let her sentence trail off.

She swallowed hard and squared her shoulders, looking Eos straight in the eye. "If I had... maybe we would have had more time... and he wouldn't have been so... insecure..."

"Tahirah's just a friend," he said a little louder and started walking again.

His stomach dropped, it wasn't a good feeling. You can't cheat on a dead person can you?

Addi shrugged nonchalantly and followed him out. "Whatever you say Eos" she said with a sigh. "Just.... don't... never mind" she followed watching to make sure he didn't fall as he walked.

"My...'chances for happyness'?" And he started laughing. Stong, loud, half crazed laughs.

"HAHAHA, oh Addi. Pfft, 'chances of happyness'... that's a good one." He grinned and walked, the sheer ridiculousness of a demi-god getting a happy ending makeing him strangly giddy.

Addi looked positively alarmed by his sudden outburst. She had never seen him so.... giddy... It was weird coming from him.

Then her face turned stern once more as she moved to stand in front of him, blocking his path forward. "I'm serious!" she snapped. "Honestly Eos! You bring half of your misery on yourself! I don't know exactly what has happened in your past to make you so.... gloomy.... but you need to move on!"

Her eyes became pleading. "Please.. just try.... It hurts me to see you so sad!" she said with a sigh.

He started laughing again, simple because it was better than having a break down. Then stopped suddenly and stared at her.

"Oh.. you're serious? Addi," he said, trying to think of a way to say this gently. "If you were me, you would be dead."

"Oh really?" He grabbed the tops of her arms and pushed her against the hall-way wall. His face was inches from her's, their noses almost touching. He grabbed her hand, a little rough, and placed it on her chest, right above her heart, he let his hand rest on top of hers. And they just stood their for a few seconds, until he though she had felt what she needed to.

"Then what's that keeping time under your skin?"

Adonia cringed as he slammed her into the wall, her recent bruises from similar treatment protesting painfully. Her eyes teared as he glared at her, his hand holding hers over her now rapidly beating heart.

"A hindrance" she choked out, matching his gaze and refusing to let her tears fall. "And what of the one in your chest, you hypocrite? You're standing there wallowing in sadness over past hurts and wishing for death and you have the gall to stand here and not allow me to feel the same?"

He started laughing again. Not because it was funny, but because it was ridiculous.

"Heh, Addi.. feel my heart," he told her, moving her hand to his chest. His heart was different than a mortals it beat much slower. Being immortal, you changed less. He barely counted himself as alive. "But Addi, you're young and sweet and you can change, you can go talk to Jack your 'love' and I can't talk to..." he trailed off... afraid that maybe if he tried to say it.. would he be able to?

Addi laughed in his face, but it wasn't a real laugh. This laugh was completely dead in sound and emotion.

"I can't talk to him" she said flatly. "He's been avoiding me... I don't even know where to find him." She lowered her eyes before saying what had been bothering her for some time now. "I don't think he cares for me anymore..." she muttered. "And I won't force myself on him...."

"Addi..." he had failed, he couldn't get to her with words. He sighed. "Fine, but you'll regret it." Yes, he knew a lot about regrets and this would turn into one if Adonia wasn't careful. If Jack wasn't careful too. But he would try to help. He poked her in the cheek teasingly. "Come on then, let's go burn down the Athenaeum."

((Aww.. sorry C: neh I just like writing long dialogue of sad characters.. I mean... =3= FREE HUGS!! ))

Addi couldn't help but laugh at his suggestion. It wasn't quite a real laugh, but it at least had some life to it. "You're forgetting we're both failures at fire magic." she said with a shadow of a smile.

"Yeah, which is why we're going to burn down the Athenaeum. I don't know about you, but when I do manage to start a fire, I have problems with control."

He smirked the best he could and started walking again. At least he got a little emotion out of her. It was better to be sad or angry than numb, or at least that's what he thought.
