"What future would you have without of the Athenaeum? Nothing, I say. You would be running around, trying to run away from Cesar's, Nero's, Constantino's. or whoever's in charge now troupes and have a miserable life. The Athenaeum is a better choice then anything you could have." he said, snorting at Septima.

"Emotions distract you on a battle, but who said you couldn't have feeling outside the arena? Fighthing is great thing, I would make my father proud if I won in the battlefield. At least, I would make somebody proud." he said, frowning slightly.

Severa stuck her chin out defiantly. "Trajan. But you're right, I'd have no future, but I'm not sure I want a future without what I had. What happens happens and I'm at peace with it. It's certainly better than being a plaything of the Gods, to gamble with as they please."

Severa contemplated for a moment. "So you're saying that you can perfectly seperate your emotions outside the battlefield and in" She cocked her head. "So, say hypothetically, you feel in love with someone, a warrior from your year, and you were pitted against her, or him of course, would you be able to separate your feelings and go with your duties?" She half-smiled, witing for the answer.

"Too late. We are already chess piece on the board of the Gods." he said, looking at the sky, thinking what were the Gods saying while they watch them two. "Future is uncertain so I wouldn't trust on it."

Adratos smirked "That's why I closed my heart since I got here. I don't want that to happen and commit foolish actions." he said, being truth at heart but a little uncertain of his own words.

"True, but when are we not someone else's chesspieces? Of our fathers, or husbands, employers or chiefs. When is your future ever in the hands of anyone else? Might as well be divine influence, where the players are entities growing fat on wine and sitting in their golden chairs watching blood spill. Not much different from an emperor, in any case. Though death is not a necessity."

"Hmm," Severa contemplated. She shook out her hair and batted he eyes just like she'd seen others -mainly nymphs- do to men. She nonchalantly moved her shoulder just so the button of her chiton fell down from her shoulder just a little, revealing more skin and the hint of her figure. "But let's not pretend that it's been easy, closing you heart off from any kind of emotion," she said in a low voice, still half-smiling.

"True. We do not own our fate nor we are totally free." he said moving back to glare at Septima. "Gods are bored creatures who tend to gather creatures to see then fighting against each other." Adratos knew they were watching but ignored that fact.

Adratos looked at Septima up and down. Was she trying to... flirt with him? He bursted out laughing "Heavens! Girl, put yourself together because you ain't getting nothing from me." he said, leaning forward to her, teasing up and smirking the more.

((Looking at Jim Carrey is getting kind of creepy >.>))

She laughed, and crossed he arms, sword still in her one hand. "Who says I want anything from you? Good Gods, you're half horse!" But she didn't right her sleeve and neither did her smile dissappear. "I like my men a bit more... human. Or humane for that matter."

She laughed to herself, messing with him, or attempts there-to, did bring good fun. If there was anything that Severa was, she was stubborn. She wouldn't back down until she'd won this -whatever it was-.

"But as I was saying, no emotion on the battlefield, yet you seem like battle is the only thing in your life. How is that any different from being emotionless altogether" She was definitely enjoying the fact that the conversation had shifted from him trying to see into her, especially when he'd hit the spot a few times.

((Done xD I was lazy to change my avatar))

"You wish you were a splendid centaur." he said, hands on his hips. "Besides, I don't want to get murder by you in any way." he said, smirking the more.

This discussion had been for a while but Adratos was not willing to give up. If he did, it would shown the girl that he was weak and that was one thing he wasn't. Especially with this girl in front of him.

"Hmmm..." Adratos tapped his index finger on his chin "About emotions I'm refering to those who can actually distract you from battle and from reason. Of course, emotions will interfer with reason but as you know love and affection can get things complicated if in the middle of a battle. Rage is needed but not too much. We must control emotions as much as we can."

"Oh naturally," She laughed. "Prancing around with my awkward animal behind sounds like the most fun. Either way I'm sure Ares wouldn't be too pleased if I murdered you anyway, he still has need for his petty pawn."

"But without those emotions life is so... dull. Living without reason is living freely, don't you think? Not that I'm a fervent advocate of being ruled entirely by the impulses in your brain, mind you. But it seems like you're replacing those with pride, and that can definitely be a hamper to performance." She sheathed the sword and put both hands on her hips, looking him straight in the eyes, not wavering a second.

"Centaurs are creatures of great elegance, human." he said, looking at her from up high. "It combines the elegance of humans with the horse's"

"I didn't say to eliminate them from your life. Just to put them apart when in a battle. Living without reason can let you be pretty vunerable for sharp words and you end up getting yourself hurt." he explained, looking straight in the eye. "Then again, you should control emotions and not let them take control of you, such as pride."

"Of course they are," Severa agreed. "If you think heavy muscles and thundering hooves are graceful. Now try dancing for example, extremely elegant, yet I'm willing to bet nearly impossible for the likes of you."

"But that's not how the mind works, is it?" She challenged. "Pick and choose your emotion, and when to experience it. The brain isn't near that gracious."

"Dance is a skill I do not possess. But try running. The elegance of a horse running is a scene everybody loves to watch." he explained.

"I said you should control. Not that everybody can. I, for example, through the years have been pretty sucessful on controlling them and contain some." he replied, snorting.

(Sorry! Time kind of slipped a little))

"True, though I would count it more beautiful if it had the head of a horse as well," Severa sighed. "In any case, I can see now why the God took interest in you."

"Control, even for the best of men, slips every once in a while. But in any case, simply continue thinking that you're above emotion, but some day it will come back to haunt you."

"Hopefully, it won't while I'm here." he said with a smirk.

"Are you insinuating that I am a fool for disliking a horrid person such as yourself? That I am a fool for not seeing the beauty of two creatures welded into one?" She shot back.

"My words have many meanings, but it would be no fun to spell them out as it is. In any case I almost want you to slip, it would be amusing to watch. If you do, please do so while I am still here, it would be greatly appreciated," she said with a half-smile.

"Believe me, I am not that horrid. There are worse people." he smirked at her "A fool, maybe. Probably your eyes are not ready for centaur beauty." he snorted.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I won't give you that or any pleasure in your pitfull life. I love disappointing you." he said with a smile.

It was Severa's turn to snort, "I'm certain THAT'S the case! In any case you aren't portraying yourself to be of the most gentlemanly kind either."

"We'll just have to see won't we? There's a whole year ahead of us after all..."

"Indeed. I will be delighted to see you get disappointed."

"And it shall be delightful to see you struggle."

Septima sighed. "We shall never stop, shall we? We shall stand here forever, fighting with or heads and our minds, but nothing is coming of it." She was getting quite annoyed with the little sparring of words. No one was having the upper hand, they were both equal with their comments.

Adratos thought for a bit, rubbing his hand on his chin. Septima was right and himself had came to that conclusion after a while "Yes, you are right. Never met anybody has sturbborn as you. And oddly enough it was just a normal discussion. I guess we better be over." he concluded.
