Watching the Sky
Cosette lay very still in the field and watched the sky. She was looking for pictures in the clouds, just because she felt like it. Lately she hadn't had time for doing random childish things, if she was home she would have made time. But here things were different. Here she had classes she had to be at everyday.
But oh she liked it a lot more than home. Here, her roommate was nicer and she had more freedom.
She had survived another day of classes and to celebrate something so small and yet so amazing she stared at the beautiful blue sky, and watched as the clouds drifted by.

Re: Watching the Sky
Eri wandered through the field not really paying attention to anything, her jacket off and slung over one shoulder. She had donned clothes similar to those of an upper class male of her time and was quite at her ease in them. She yawned widely, closing her eyes as a cool breeze brushed the side of her face.
Looking out across the field she saw a form lying in the grass. upon closer observation, she realized it was her roommate, Seti.
With a mischievous grin, she crept up on the girl in absolute silence before sticking her head rather suddenly over the other girl's with a resounding "BOO!"
((I apologize... Eri is .... insane XD))

((I don't mind at all XDDDD))
"GAAAHCK!!!" Or something like it came from Cosette's mouth as her heart found it's way into both her stomach and her throat at the same time.
She jumped up and whipped around to see her room-mate Eri in.. some... weird clothes.
"What are you doing?" She asked. Eri had scared the crap out of her. There she was relaxing and looking at the clouds and then the other girl just popped out of nowhere.

"PFFHAHAHAHAHA Oh Seti you really are a jumpy one aren't you?" Eri laughed aloud as she fell back on her rear in her mirth. "Oooooh I am sorry" she said finally catching her breath, wiping a tear from her eye.
"You were sitting there so peacefully, I just couldn't resist trying a scare. I used to do it to Oni all the time back home so at least you're not the first." she grinned in her Cheshire way.

Seti bit her lower lip in shame and embarrassment. Some warrior she was. She couldn't even tell when her room mate walked up behind her. Jeez, why was she even here. Oh yeah, because she had nowhere else to go.
"Were you raised by wolves," Seti grumbled. Gawds, Eri got a kick out of herself.

"PFFFF Good lord No" she said standing and brushing off the seat of her pants. "Sometimes I think I would rather it had been that way though" she said wrinkling her nose. 'I was not ... er.... I was not particularly wanted... let's say." she said with an awkward smile, before resuming her usual boyish grin and waving off the comment causally.
"But enough of that, what were you ding out here?" she asked, cocking her head.

'Not wanted'? Seti knew how that felt. Her aunt wasn't exactly expecting Cosette's parents to die.
"Er... I was just looking at the clouds," she told her. Feeling bad for her last comment.

Re: Watching the Sky
Eri shrugged "Nah no really;" she said matter-of-factly. She had never seen eye to eye with either of her parents.
Her mother had tried desperately to make her into a proper, submissive young lady and had been thoroughly and bitterly disappointed by her tomboyish attitudes. Her father, on the other hand had never paid any attention to her at all unless it was to scold or yell at her to remember her place. He had treated her as if she were an unpleasant burden or a lesser being.
"The clouds?" Eri asked raising an eyebrow. "Whatever for?"
She gazed up curiously as if trying to decipher a hidden message in a line of text.

"My Aunt wasn't... the nicest woman." Cosette tried to connect with her room-mate. "but she was... ok."
"Well, haven't you ever looked at the clouds before? Ya' know... like for pictures and shapes." It was weird, this was one of those things that was hard to explain.

Eri shrugged. "My mother wasn't mean, really... I was just a disappointment to her... My Father truly didn't like me... though probably for the same things that caused my mother's disappointment. I'm happy to have escaped them really... them and that slimy little... er... never mind." She cut herself off, as she realized that she was rattling on.
And with that she flopped onto her back, tossing her jacket aside casually. "Hmm, never actually tried that before." she grinned, staring up at the clouds. "I'm not the most artistic person though.... probably won't see anything... " she peered up at Seti for a moment before asking. "What do you see?"

Re: Watching the Sky
"Well nothing now..." Seti told her. She decided not to comment on her family, it didn't seem like Eri wanted to talk about it anymore. "You need to clear your mind first, and then let the images come to you," she tried her best to explain as she took a deep breathe and stared back up at the clouds.

Re: Watching the Sky
Eri gave the clouds a pouty look. "Clear my mind huh?" she went completely silent, her face becoming the stone mask she usually reserved for her father's lectures as she stared blankly at the clouds for a minute... then two... then three..........
"I can't see anything" she said looking at the sky in a manner which suggested it had done her a personal wrong.

Cosette facepalmed. Jeez.
"You need to calm your mind more than that," she let the other girl know. "Just calm down. Relax everything. Let your eyes be relaxed as well as your mind, let them wander through the clouds." Seti tried to explain again, she held up her hand and moved it as if she was stroking the sky.

Re: Watching the Sky
Eri sighed impatiently. "Why does this sort of thing always require something of my brain?" she muttered looking up at the sky once again, taking a deep breath and placing her hands behind her head as a cushion. She allowed her eyes to wander aimlessly among the shapes in the sky above her, not really noticing much of anything until...
"Hang on..." she said quietly, squinting to get a better look. "I think I see.... a fish... one of those pretty little blue ones with the long tails" she said pointing up at the sky in surprise, her mouth gaping slightly..

Re: Watching the Sky
Seti nodded with a grin, happy she got the other girl to see something. That cloud did kinda look like a fish.
She chuckled to herself. "That one looks like a hippo," she said and pointed to a rather fat cloud.

"Or like me after I've eaten too much" Eri said giggling. "Hmm... " she unhooked her sword belt, shoving it aside as she continued to scan the skies.
"So what other things do you like to do miss Seti?.... other than staring at clouds I mean." she said with a hint of mischief in her voice, looking at her roommate out of the corner of her eye.

"Erhm... well," she started before getting in a last glance of the sky and the orange-yellow sun, then she turned her head toward Eri. "I like music," she said matter-of-factly. Not able to think of much else.

Re: Watching the Sky
"Music is good" Eri nodded. "I generally prefer dance though since I sing like a croaking frog, and I was never any good at any instruments." she giggled, thinking of her poor, poor music instructors and the tortures they had endured.
"I was known best in dancing circles as a Ballet dancer."

"Oh really?" This was interesting. "With me it's the opposite. I love to sing, but.. I'm not.. the most graceful person," she admitted. Actually she was really clumsy.

Re: Watching the Sky
Eri giggled. 'It would seem we are opposites in that manner then" she said stretching a bit before tugging at her soft gloves in annoyance. She knew she should wear them at all times, but she itched to toss them aside as she had done with her jacket.
"Dancing was the one thing me and my parents could agree on." she said with a smile. "My dance teacher was my bets friend, other than Oni of course..."

"Do you miss your dance teacher?" she asked without thinking. Seti watched as Eri tugged at her gloves. "Why are you wearing gloves in this heat?" she asked again not thinking about without thinking.

Re: Watching the Sky
"Oh yes... not as much as I could... but she was nice enough... she helped me amuse myself for hours... though she had to practically tie me down on a few occasions to keep me from dancing until my feet bled." she giggled sheepishly.
"huh?.... Oooohhh..." she muttered, her normally pale face turning an ashen white at the mention. "Wel... I.... er....." she trailed off.

"Oh sorry sorry..." She said quickly. She could tell it was a ... subject Eri didn't want to talk about. Seti was pretty sure everyone at the Athenaeum had that kind of thing.

Eri grinned apologetically. "Its all right... I just... I can't risk taking them off... not now anyway... Its just... ugh... I won't bore you with those details."
