Practicing Lines for Hyppolytus

Raivynne sighed as she sat down on one of the couches. She opened up her script of Hyppolytus. "Me, as Phaedra. Mnemosyne what were you thinking giving me a role like hers?." Raivynne asked herself out loud. Sighing once more before looking back to her script, reading her lines.

Adonia tiptoed into the lounge, closing the door behind her and began to absentmindedly make her way to a couch, her nose buried in a script of "Andromache." So absorbed was she in her reading, that she failed to notice the room had another occupant, and sat curling her feet underneath her on a couch.

Raivynne looked up to the noise of another warrior plopping herself onto another couch that was across from here. She studied the girl for a moment before coming to the conclusion that the girl was a Siren. Biting her lip she contemplated on whether or not to introduce herself, in the end Raivynne said, "Hello, I'm Raivynne a fourth year."

Adonia started slightly upon hearing the older girl's voice. Looking up from her script, her look of surprise changed to one of mild chagrin. "Oh! Pleasure to meet you Raivynne. I'm Adonia... a third year... I'm sorry... Did I disturb your reading? "

"Only a little bit, but I'm dreading on learning my lines so its quite alright. Pleasure to meet you as well." Raivynne smiled at Adonia. "And may ask what you are reading?" She asked, always being a busybody about what other people are reading.

Adonia giggled a bit at Raivynne's remark about dreading learning lines. "Oh, This is 'Andromache.' I'm practicing as well... Might I ask what yours is?' she said smiling broadly.

"'Andromache' thats a good one. I'm leanring lines for 'Hyppolytus'. My role is Phaedra..." Raivynne said with grimace. She was the female lead and was dreading playing the woman. "What role are you?"

[Achlys Adonia Argyris]

"I must confess I've never read Hyppolytus" Adonia admitted sheepishly. "as for what character I'm playing, that would be Hermione." She said with a grin. "If I might ask... why you don't much like the role of Phaedra"

"Thats alright. I'm a bookworm, my room is filled with, to the equivalent of the library, books. So I've read many of them." Raivvyne giggled at her own dorkiness. She folded the page of her script over and closed the book. "Because Phaedra is the wife of Theseus and is in love with her stepson, Hyppolytus who is Theseus's son of his first marriage and who may or may not be the child of her sister. Phaedra ends up killing herself in the end and lied about something." Raivynne sighed.

"....... goodness.... I see your point." Adonia said, a look of mild distaste crossing her face. "She does sound a bit.... erm..... difficult to relate to," she said with shaky grin

"Yes...that and my acting is quite terrible. I'm also not an extrovert so me playing a lead is hard for me." Raivynne shrugged. "What do you think of your role, Hermione?"

[Achlys Adonia Argyris]

"Its been a long while since I last read this, so I do not fully remember her" Adonia replied, placing a delicate bookmark in her page and closing the script. "However, I seem to remember her being a piteous woman, plagued by a barren womb and thus considered worthless by society and her husband. If I remember she becomes rather suicidal and homicidal at one point in the play. In short, I think I'll rather enjoy playing her quite a bit."

"Yes you are correct on your character." Raivynne smiled. "Do you like characters like that?" She asked Adonia curiously. Raivynne was interested in the younger girl, Adonia seemed to be a fascinating Siren indeed.

"I looove tragic characters." The siren replied. her eyes misting over as if seeing something far away. "They have such a painful beauty to them, and one can relate to them so freely."

Raivynne nodded in agreement. One like herself can relate to tragic characters as well. "So how much of the Haven have you seen so far?" She asked the younger girl. Adonia seemed fairly new, Raivynne hadn't seen the girl at the opening ceremony.

"er..." The young siren looked at the floor sheepishly. "I've only seen this and my room so far... I arrived just today in fact... I was thinking that perhaps I would go and do some exploring later."

Raivynne's eyes widened. "Oh my! Well then...." She paused for a moment. "Welcome to the Athenaeum!!!!" Raivynne smiled brightly. "If you want maybe later I could go exploring with you, show you my favorite places and what not." She offered Adonia.

Adonia grinned happily "Thank you! That would be lovely." It felt wonderful to have a new friend.

Raivynne beamed. "You're very welcome!" She smiled sweetly at the younger girl, then glanced about the room. "So which God or Goddess is your sponsor?"

"I am sponsored by Hera." Adonia announced, making it sound as amusingly/falsely grand as possible. "and you?"

Raivynne raised her brows. "The lovely Hades and Persephone." She said with a smile. Which wasn't a lie, Raivynne did quite like her sponsors.

"Ooh! Very interesting! I've heard they're a lovely couple."

Raivynne smiled. "Yeah they are nice, a lot nicer than what other people think about them. What do you think of Hera?" She asked Adonia curiously.

Adonia though for a moment before answering, her eyes looking a bit pained. "I think she is a kind enough woman.... its just not always easy to see... being in the same room with her and Zeus is ...... well... uncomfortable to say the least. She makes me think of Hermoine in many ways. It rather sad..." The siren's voice trailed off as she became lost in thought- her eyes seeing something from another time.

Raivynne stood up as a strange look appeared in Adonia's eyes. Walking over to he girl, she placed a hand on her shoulder. "Are you alright, Adonia?" She glanced at the girl concerned.
