Ouch.......

[Achlys Adonia Argyris]

Adonia trudged along the hallway of the Athenaeum cursing herself. "Here I am - a siren.... one of the most graceful creatures on Earth - and I somehow manage to whip myself... with my own whip... not one, but five times..." she winced looking down at the spots where she had hurt herself.

"At least it wasn't my scythe. or one of my bladed whips" she muttered, shuddering moodily as she struggled to read the names of the rooms along the hall.

She had hit her left arm, her chin, her right side, and had hit her her right leg twice. There were pink mark where the whip had struck and some of her scales were missing.

"Now where is the infirmary!?" she grumbled as she continued to limp along.

Ruairi spotted a pretty girl. He liked it when he spotted pretty girls. She was just around the corner, so he the most straight-forward thing. "Hey there pretty thi-woah! What did you do?!" Apparently the pretty lady was, in fact, not entirely whole.

"It looks like you've hurt yourself pretty badly. Shouldn't you be going to the infirmary?" Said infirmary was, of course, the exact other way.

(That's OK. He he he He WOULD like meeting a pretty girl wouldn't he? >D)

Were she not injured, Adonia would have jumped in surprise... but in her condition, she instead tripped and fell over.
"Ooow" she moaned holding the welt on her side. "Yes, I was just on my way the-" she looked up and saw a rather tall redhead looking down at her. "I-I don't believe we've met" she squeaked feebly.

"Woah there pretty lady, don't hurt yourself more than you've already done, that would be most unwise of you," Ruairi reached out for her shoulders to steady her, as she seemed rather... fragile.

He stepped back a second, keeping his hands out to make sure she wouldn't fall, or collapse, or harm herself in any way (you can never be too certain pretty ladies wouldn't fall) and bowed shortly to her, as he'd seen some of the older people do when they respected someone. "Ruairi Mac Tarlach, at your service lassie. Oh, and let's not forget Padraig," he motioned to the enormous gray wolfhound that carefully peeked around the corner, not sure it entirely trusted the odd lady.

"Thank you" she said swaying slightly and starting to feeling a bit fuzzy.

"Oh he's beautiful" she said looking at the dog curiously. "He doesn't seem to like me much though."

Adonia kept trying to see strait, but the room began to blur as she tried to step forward.

"Oh you silly woman," Ruairi said, as he quite effectively swept the pretty lady into his arms. "And don't worry about Padraig, he's still getting used to seeing pretty ladies with scales and wings. Even after two years, anyway," he whistled a quick note to tell Padraig to follow, who did so a few cautious meters behind, and started going the opposite way of which the lady had been facing.

"You know, if you wanted to find the infirmary, it would have quite effectively been the other way," he smiled amused. "I should know, I've been there quite often, but that's a story best told later. Let's get you some medical attention." He made quick steps down the hall, long legs did do well with that. Silly lady.

Adonia blushed a furious pink. "W-wait!" she said looking panicked. "I-I'm all right really. N-no need to...." she broke off as the room swam again. "J-jack won't like this...." she managed to mutter as the ceiling swam above her..

Ruairi was just about to convince the pretty lady how it was no bother, he didn't mind carrying damsels in distress to the infirmary, and, really, she could protest all she wanted but she had to admit that she was in no state to walk there on her own. Too bad he caught those last couple of words, causing him to skid to a halt.

"Jack? Wait, is he your boyfriend?" He asked, a trickle of disappointment in his voice. If it had been any other guy, it would have been fine. I mean if she didn't have a boyfriend it would have been easier, less fighting and all. But this was Jack and Ruairi had dead respect for Jack! Now that was disappointing.

"B-boyfriend?!" Adonia stuttered turning even more pink. "W-well.... we're very good friends... but you'll have to ask him about that" she said looking embarrassed, but couldn't help but smile shyly at the thought as she rubbed her fogging eyes.

[Ruairí]

"Ooooooh, I see how it is," Ruairi chuckled lightly and started walking toward the infirmary again. "Jack hasn't had the balls to make a move yet, right? and here's me thinking he was this mighty man of a pirate! Pfft, pussy he is," Ruairi laughed fully this time.

"I may have to have a chat with the chap then."

Adonia blushed even more as she looked at the tall young man reproachfully. "He is not!" she said fixing him in an icy glare. "He's strong and smart and he..." she broke off abruptly... "Wait... what do you mean a little chat?" she asked warily.

[Ruairí]

"You're certainly quick to defend your pirate," Ruairi said with a laugh. "But there's certainly no need to murder me with those eyes, lassy. As for the chat, you might have to wait and see," he winked at her, keeping the smirk strong.

"Say, how far've you gotten with dear old Jack? There may still be a chance for me you know."

"H-how far?" Adonia asked cocking her head, obviously confused by the question. "I don't understand what this phrase means... Would you mind explaining?" she asked ever so politely, much in the manner of a curious child. for a moment, she forgot that he was being carried by the large student.

[Ruairí]

"You know," Ruairi said, shrugging. "You know... Have you kissed him yet, had sex with him, confessed your never-dying love for him?" He asked in a matter-of-fact tone, as if asking her what she had for breakfast. "

Adonia just stared at him slack-jawed, completely horrified that he would ask her something so ...well rude, so very directly.

"H-ha Have I-" she sputtered turning bright red and attempting to swat him (a pathetic and embarrassingly unsuccessful endeavor due to her compromised vision). "That's none of your business!" she squeaked averting her eyes and squirming to try and get out of his arms.

"Why does everyone always act so violent when I ask them that," Ruairi muttered to himself absentmindedly. "Anyway, that was an embarrassingly unsuccessful endeavor pretty lady, you shouldn't try to swat people with compromised vision," he said very wisely, with a wink.

"Anyway, I'd say that your reaction proves that you haven't slept with him yet, or maybe even kissed him. But, quite frankly, that would just be a guess, and more of an excuse to do this." And with that Ruairi leaned in and kissed the girl.

(In his mind, evil laughter sounds)

"It a completely understandable reaction!" she sputtered. "And I'll thank you, young man, to keep your opinions about m-" her words were cut off abruptly by said young man's mouth.

In her fragile state, she panicked and her hands began to search frantically for his face. Upon finding it, she pulled her right hand back and swung it around where it connected rather smartly with his cheek with a resounding SMACK!

As the slap connected with Ruairi's cheek, or rather even a few moments before that, Padraig started growling, stepping closer to the Siren. Normally he let his rather foolish master fight his own battles, but this lady had a bad scent. Padraig felt the need to protect his master from the bad scent.

"Down, boy," Ruairi commanded quick, recognizing a bit of a dangerous look on the wolfhound. He turned back to the pretty lady. "Ah, that was fair enough," he rubbed his cheek painfully (really showing the quality of his paint, as it didn't rub off). "Just wanted to be able to say I did," he said with a wink.

Adonia cringed in fear from the wolfhound's growling.

"W-well, either way it was highly improper!....and..." she bit her lip for a moment, as if trying to stop herself from saying anything further,before finally blurting out "A-and if you MUST know, he DID kiss me.... But he was just teasing me then..." she admitted lamely, cringing away from Padraig again.

"W-why is he growling at me like that?" she whimpered, the hair on the back of neck standing up. Though he couldn't see him clearly, she was getting a weird vibe from this animal that made her skin crawl.

Hmmm this is quite true *nods knowingly* Awwwww is Ruairi jealous of Jack? >DD pffffft Maybe he just has a hidden smart streak? -bricked-)

"Life's too short to worry about things being proper or not!" Ruairi exclaimed. "You gotta live it while you can!" Ruairi looked back at Padraig again, with a look that clearly said 'Did I not just tell you to shush it?'. Padraig noted and stopped, but he started to walk right beside Ruairi, for if the evil scaled lady should attack him.

"Don't mind him, it's your scent that's making him go off like that, you don't smell like a human, but not like an animal he recognizes either. I'd expect his instincts are telling me your dangerous for me, being a Siren and all." he glared at Padraig again, who fell behind for a few seconds before coming back next to Ruairi. "But don't worry, I like more than enough," he winked at her. "We're almost there now."

((Pfft, you've got to understand Ruairi's mindset, he's very much like a spoiled child, doesn't like it when he can't get his way xD He should lay off now he's got what he wants, Jacks' his drinking buddy after all.

"Still" she said pouting and fidgeting as the large man continued to carry her along the hallway. "Its most forward of you to kiss a lady who may or may not be involved with someone else."

"Oh yes... the evil siren" she muttered, watching the blurred form of the creature. As much as she hated herself for it, she couldn't help but shy away from the large dog beneath her and thus towards the red-headed ruffian holding her.

"Let's just hope they can fix this vision problem I've somehow managed to inflict upon myself... I didn't even hit my eyes for heaven's sake!" she blurted in frustration, still painfully aware of the stinging welts where she had hit herself. "I should have just stuck with scythes for the day."

"If you didn't want me to kiss you, you should have answered my question about you and Jack, the way you left it I couldn't have know could I?" Ruairi responded, feeling right clever about himself.

Just then they came to the door of the infirmary. "Padraig, go sit at the door, and stay!" Ruairi commanded. Padraig went to sit at the door, though not before he'd made a great show of disagreeing.

"Alright, now as for you," he set her down gently on one of the beds. The witch doctor lady (one of the only women who did actually freak him out, although he did like her) wasn't around at the moment. "Of course Iva isn't around when you need her."

"You still could have just kept your lips to yourself" she said with a glare, though the effect was slightly ruined by the fact that she was struggling not to laugh from the very proud and boisterous way he said it.

"Thank you." she said calming down a bit as he set her down, now that the fearsome canine was outside the room.

"Not here?" she squeaked looking around from her perch on the side of the bed. "W-well where else could she be?"
