Adonia sighed with relief. "That's good to know. Is there anything else I need to know or should do?" she asked, sliding down off the table to test if her legs would hold her.

Iva held her hand out to Adonia to help steady her. "I believe thats all you need to know for now. But anytime you have more questions my door is always open." She ended with smile.

Iva shook her head. "No problem at all, Adonia. It is my job description after all." She smiled again and then looked about the messy room. Mentally thinking to herself that it needed to be cleaned some day soon.

Iva made an oh noise; then looked back and forth from Adonia to her messy room. "I couldn't possibly ask you to help me." She then eyed the huge pile of papers with health info on all the warriors currently attending the Athenaeum. "I'll clean it some other time..."

Adonia giggled "I could at least help you sort the paperwork." she said following the gaze of the amazon. "Can't be much fun going at it all by yourself I imagine."

"Yes you're very right. Are you sure, I guess I could use a little bit of help...unless you have something better to be?" Iva asked, as she walked over to the table with all the paper work. She picked up a few and looked at them trying to decide how she wanted to organize them.

"Alright then," Iva said with a grin. "Could you help me sort all this paperwork by the warriors sponsors?" The Amazon asked warily still uncertain if Adonia really wanted to help.

"Certainly" Adonia replied grabbing a stack of papers and plopping down comfortably. She began to sort them, slowly at first since it took her a moment to figure out what the papers said, but gaining speed as she began to recognize the names more easily.
"So how did you come to be here miss Iva" she asked conversationally as she worked.

Iva watched Adonia curiously as she sorted the papers. She too was sorting them out as well and was a little thrown off guard by her question. No one really ever asked how she had gotten here, or well since she was a warrior herself.

"Me? Hm well long story short. I was an outcast, shunned in my Amazon tribe. Lady Artemis has a thing for those kinds of people. So she offered me a way out of my own personal hell to this Haven." Iva finished looking at her dotted knuckles. "Who is your mentor and how did you get to the Athenaeum?"

Adonia was surprised by the older girl's response. Why would anyone shun such a kind sweet young woman?

"Me?" she said mildly taken aback. She stopped her shuffling through the papers and considered the question. "I've lived by myself for as long as I can remember.... Never had any parents or anything... and well... I had a couple... well issues... with my voice." she said suppressing a shudder as she remembered the incidents in question.

"Lady Hera," she said, her voice gaining a bitter edge, "Took note of my voice's power... and my strange combination of fire and water magics, and asked me t come here..." she worked to force a smile. "She lured me here under false pretenses though" she said bleakly. "I suppose I should thank her though." she admitted with a small smile. "I'm happier than I've ever been before."

Iva listened and nodded. "Most of the Gods trick their warriors, some of them actually care about you, and the others just want to use you. I was lucky to have Lady Artemis come and give me a way out." She paused for moment and patted Adonia's hand. "Some aren't so lucky." Iva quietly went back to sorting the papers, she thought about her childhood...even thought she wasn't alone she much would have rather lived alone.

Adonia hesitated as he continued to shift papers before asking her next question. "Why were you shunned?" she asked looking at the amazon out of the corner of her eye.

Iva blinked for a moment, she thought for a moment then opened her mouth to speak and then shut it. She had to carefully craft the story together without confusing the girl.

"In the Amazon tribe where I grew up. Every woman had a role, some were the doctors, the teachers, etc. Then there was a specially picked group of women who were the mothers of the tribe. So everyone was just about related to each other." Iva paused for moment. "You know the nature of Amazons correct? They despise men, but certain men. In my tribe the select women who were mothered the other Amazons had a chosen group of men worthy of us Amazons."

Another pause before continuing. "My mother was one of those women...but she fell in love with a man who wasn't a part of that select tribe of men. I was the outcome of that; the elders of the tribe knew it too. I had the skin tone of my father and the eye color." Iva collected her thoughts. "Amazons don't take too kindly to the breaking of their ancient laws or rules or traditions. For that I was a disgrace." She thought about her childhood; how her mother kept her by her at all times, how the women would whisper or talk about her like she wasn't there, or how they didn't want her to try and save someone who was sick when she was the only healer/doctor around. Amazons were cold women.

Adonia' hands stopped their paper shuffling as she listened to the lady's tale. She had always been envious of those who had families... mothers, fathers, siblings.... But it had never occurred to her that someone could have family they did not want. A family that despised them for something that had happened through no fault of their own. People could be so cruel.

"Well.." she said quietly, before turning to smile at Iva. "I'm happy you were born" she said. "You have a kind heart and a gift for healing. If it weren't for you, I would have no hope of sleeping through a night."

Iva wasn't sure how to respond to the rainbow ponies she was giving. Never in her life had she ever been rainbow ponies like that. She smiled and very quietly squeaked a thank you to the much younger girl.

Adonia smiled kindly once more at the amazon before going back to shuffling through the remaining papers in her pile turning to grab another large stack of paper to sort.

Iva watched Adonia shuffle the papers and organize them; moving from one pile to another. It would be terribly awkward if they sat in silence, so Iva thought up a little something for them to chat about. "So Adonia, how long have you been at the Athenaeum? Did you come as a first year or a second year?"

Adonia laughed "Actually" she said with a sheepish grin, "I didn't come until just last year... as a third year." She focused intently on two pages that seemed to have become stuck together, picking at them as she talked. "I sometimes worry that I won't be able to learn enough in such a short time.... I didn't even know how to read when I first came here." she admitted. "And I had only just discovered my fire magic.... so its not very developed.... but I have learned a few new tricks."

Iva carefully and gently took the papers that were stuck together from her. She without ease got them unstuck. "Oh don't be embarrassed about it! You will learn enough, don't be worried. I have seen much in my time here and I have seen a few warriors who just arrive in their fifth year win the rainbow ponies." Iva thought for a rainbow ponies. "Did you simply not know how to read or is there something bothering or wrong withy our eyes?" She asked the siren before handing back the two papers to her.

"Well, there's never been anything wrong with my eyes as far as I know" she said considering the question carefully. "I just never learned to read since I lived alone my entire life... Living on an uninhabited island does tend to keep one alone." she grinned.

Adonia giggled "Oh no apology necessary" she said, her silvery laugh echoing in the room. "For all I know there might be something wrong with my eyes. I just never thought about it before. No need to apologize for doing your job." she smiled.
