Tahi's Room Empty Tahi's Room

Post by Guest Sun Jan 16, 2011 9:46 pm

Finally becoming a mentor - Tahi had set up her own room in the mentor's quarters and moved her entire dress collection out of Kal's. It was much like her old room with Severa - decorated with souvenirs from her travels all over the world. Wall hangings from the Indus - Orient - with all sorts of different colors and cultures splashed in between. On the far wall - there was a stained glass window, much like Kal's that allowed the night breeze to enter, and the secrets of the night to weave their way into her room. The closet was almost as large as the main room - and it housed all of Tahi's vast clothing collection. There was also a small adjoining bath, and a space for cooking - though Tahi was still inept, and rarely used it. In the main room, in front of the bed, there was also a long chaise lounge, with a sewing basket in front of it, a large piece of fabric spread out - ready to be cut into Tahi's latest creation.

However at the moment Tahi wasn't feeling up to any of the things she usually enjoyed. She was still much to upset over Eos. How could she fall for Zeus' mentor? The Lord of the Gods had it out for her family. And even if he was telling the truth, and wasn't Zeus' willingly, what was to stop Zeus from taking advantage of their relationship after the fact. But she'd give him his chance to explain things.

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Guest Sun Jan 16, 2011 10:03 pm

(( Sure - we can definitely time skip to the next day - but I'm going to have to start making dinner soon - and I have volleyball practice from 6-9 pacific time))

The next morning Tahi was feeling a little better. She wasn't even hung over - which was a good sign. But then again - she did leave the party earlier than she had expected. Because of Eos.

She mentally weighed the pros and cons in her mind.
Pros: Handsome, Fun to Talk To, Didn't Care about Mom, good dancer
Cons: Zeus. Didn't exactly lie - but didn't tell the truth either...

Tahi wasn't sure. The fact that he was Zeus's mentor was bad enough. But she knew all too well he could have easily been coerced into the position. But even if he had been coerced into the position - what was stopping zeus from using that same coercion to force him to hurt her and her brother. No - she needed more information. But Eos was so new - she didn't have much to go on.

She'd just have to talk to him. Hear him out and decide from there.

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Eos Sun Jan 16, 2011 10:26 pm

Eos stood in the hall way and waited, and waited. He was to afraid to knock on Tahi's door, but couldn't leave until he talked to her. She had left the ballroom crying last night, he really hated hurting people (emotionaly) especially girls. And he was sick and tired of people making him out to be the bad guy only because Zeus was his sponsor.

Eventually, he ended up slumped against the hall-way wall, waiting for Tahit o come out of her room. Or Kal to come by so he could die.

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Guest Mon Jan 17, 2011 2:17 am

I suppose I should work this out with him eventually. Tahi thought, sitting down on her chaise lounge. Calming herself she touched her own source of wind magic. Though it wasn't as powerful or as deadly as her brother's she had a natural knack for listening to things. The wind brought her whatever she wanted to know. It may not be as 'crash-bang-slash' as her brother's battle wind magic - but knowledge was a powerful thing - and using it against her enemies was Tahi's specialty.

Right now she wanted to know where Eos was, and was surprised when the winds indicated he was right outside her door - and from the sounds of things - he wasn't feeling any more comfortable about this situation than she was. A flicker of hope lit inside her. He didn't know about her little talent of spying on people using her wind magic. So if he was acting to get closer to her - simply for Zeus' sake - he wouldn't have been doing so when she wasn't in the room.

Making a decision she released the winds, waiting until her eyes had faded back from the bright white that signified her use of her powers, before striding to the door, and opening it.

She met his eyes - her gaze still wary. "Hello, Eos." He started to speak but she held up her hand. "You owe me an explanation."

"Fff," Eos fell back when Tahi opened her door. But stood up awekwardly and stared into her light green eyes, they were a little red around the edges and it hurt him to know he had hurt her.

"I'm sorry Tahirah," he said. "I-I know, I didn't really understand until you said your brother didn't have a problem with Hera... but if you want I'll give you my whole life story..."

Tahi, shrugged - drawing him inside. He was stuttering. Meaning he she was right. He didn't like that he had hurt her - and It wasn't like he had outright said he was Hera's. She had assumed that because he wasn't a jerk.

She sat down on her chaise lounge and motioned for him to sit too. She looked away - not quite sure of what she was feeling. "Everyone has a right to their secrets. There are parts of my past that are tough to talk about too. I understand. You don't need to tell me everything. I just need to know why HIM?"

She met Eos' eyes, waiting for him to begin.

((Haha - have fun~)

Eos sat when Tahi offered to let him. He sighed.

"If I tell you somethings about my past, promise not to tell anyone else?" He asked, somethings he needed her to understand... and not anyone else.

Tahi nodded. She shifted uncomfortably. While they were on the topic of honesty - she supposed she might as well come clean. "Believe me - I'm good at keeping secrets." She paused. "Well - important secrets, anyways. That's how my wind magic works." She drew on the wind inside of her, and her eyes faded to a bright white. From the holes in the stained glass window on the opposite side of the room, a breeze rustled in, circling them both, bringing sounds of laughter into the room. Tahi let the magic go, and the wind dissipated, the noise, fading. She gave him a small smile.

"It sounds like someone out there is having a good time." She said, quietly. Knowing he didn't know much about wind magic, Tahi continued. "There are three main classes of wind magic. The first is battle magic - powerful winds that can slash, rend, and tear. That's my brother's specialty" It probably didn't hurt to remind him that her brother was a very formidable enemy.
"Then there's transport class wind magic - magic that is good for pushing and pulling things - flying and the like. Kal's better at that than I am too. And finally there's strategic grade wind magic - which is my specialty. I can overhear things on the wind. Anything said aloud I can listen to. So believe me. Over the years I've heard a lot of things that I shouldn't have. And while I may have shared the trivial stuff - I know that there are some stories that are not mine to tell. Yours seems to be one of them."

She placed her hand on his arm. "Your secrets are safe with me." She should be angry at him, damn it. But he seemed so sincere. And maybe she was too trusting, but she believed him...

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Eos Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:38 am

Well that was... a power that couldn't really come in handy with inteligence gathering, but not in battle. He had to admit he was more afraid of her brother.
He sighed again. "Well I guess it starts with where I'm from..." he tried to start his story, but it was rather hard to open up after so rainbow pony years. "Uh... well when I'm from really, the 'good old days' when the gods still ran things in the rainbow pony world. I was a product of a not so healthy relationship between a god and a mortal woma-n... NOT Zeus don't worry," he said when he saw the look on her face. He stopped for a second... he realized he had never actually told anyone who his father was, some people had just kind of found out.

"My father is Apollo. Adn my mother was, heh, ya know I don't even know her name. But she was a huma-n woma-n and she didn't survive the ... my birth... she was a Spartan and didn't have anyone to take care of me so like the unhealthy babies the left me on the moutain to die. When they came back in the morning and saw I survived I was taken back into the city. I was taken care of by a rainbow pony strongly favored by Athena and he taught me his goddesses ways as well as the cities. But when I was around seven I had to go through what we all went through, the Agoge, how they trained us was harsh, I have the scarrs to prove it." He sighed again... his story was a long one.

"When I was 17 I was put into a squad, a very early age... but hell I hated the Agoge like everyone else. I tried to please my captain anyway I could... that doesn't really matter. After that I kinda fell in love with a girl names Arterim... we didn't fall in love fast by any means, my first words to her were 'you ungrateful whore'" He smiled at the memory... that was the way Spartans fell in love ((XD)) "She called me a few not too nice names as well. I'd give up my life for her.. and I did... I don't want to talk about what happened. But remeber this was the time when the gods gladly effed wiht your life. When they gave out immortallity for heroics, for giving up your life for another. The funny thign is, the don't ask you if you want to be immortal if your unconcious, or techinically dead, or wavering just between like I was..." He stopped this was where his story changed. "That was when Zeus took an interest in me, it was one of the first rainbow ponies and I still looked like a fifth year. It was the perfect ploy... Athena was pissed, as was Apollo..." he sighed again. The rainbow ponies was the last thing he wanted to talk about.

"How I became his rainbow ponies ((=3=)), after a long time in the huma-n world I had a son.. and awhile after that I had a daughter, named Arcadia. She was murdered by my son, Kizamir. I couldn't stay in the rainbow pony world anymore. It was... too much. Too rainbow pony memories. When you're an immortal in a mortal world all you can do in the long run is hurt. Athena offered to let me be a rainbow ponies, but I wanted nothign to do with the Athenaeum. A few years latter, Kiz had a daughter of his own. A real cutie," he smiled remebering Alana, the little girl that had tugged so ard at his heart strings. "I couldn't watch her die too, I couldn't stand my own revenge filled thoguths whenever I saw her. I begged Athena to let me teach here, but she had Alkaia by then. Apollo had Mnem. They both said I could still teach, there were gods with more than one rainbow ponies. They didn't like the idea of me being one's rainbow ponies and not the other.... I would have betrayed one of them, and along came Zeus, he had a way out. Be his rainbow ponies, teach what I love to do.... what could I do?"

((XD I'm sorry so sorry, my boyfriends sings a weird version of the Disney Hercules movie song to me that goes "Along came Zeus, with his thumderbolts! ... etc" won't go into it. We're kinda greek geeks... and still a little tired))

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Guest Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:30 am

Tahi surveyed him quietly. It obviously hurt him a lot to tell her his story, and for that alone, her heart bled for him. "Eos.." she whispered softly, moving closer so that they were snuggled together on the chaise lounge. She touched his face gently, but so he couldn't look away. "I'm so sorry for your suffering," she said gently.

But then she realized exactly how close they were, and she drew back. She looked him in the eye - a more amused look twinkling in her green eyes. "You had no idea what you were getting into with him, didn't you? Somehow I think you must have offended your father and Athena for refusing to choose one or the other, and they let you to your fate. I can't imagine them not warning you otherwise. And I'm sure his lordship thought it would be hilarious to put you here without warning you about how Kal might react." She paused. "Your lord has done a lot of people wrong, and has quite a grudge against my brother. If you had gotten in his way without me talking to him first - gods only know what would have happened. He could've seriously hurt you - and then Zeus could have him removed from the Athenaeum."

She shuddered at the thought, debating what her next move should be. Eos' story wasn't one of a rainbow pony looking to have another rainbow pony in his life. If Tahi was smart - she'd leave well enough alone. Besides -she was probably the polar opposite of a spartan rainbow pony: girl-y, obsessed with fashion, with a soft heart and more of a talent for strategy than actual battle. She wasn't exactly his type, now that she'd heard his story. Coming to a decision - she moved away from where she had cuddled into him on the chaise lounge.

"Thank you for explaining. I am sorry for judging you. It was unfair of me, and I promise none of this shall leave this room. Not even to the ears of another wind magic user" (she had protections in place to keep her room private. One of the advantages of strategy grade wind magic). "I'm glad we've sorted that out, seeing as we're working together. It'll be better now we're still friends."

There - she'd said her bit - leaving him with a way out, and an opportunity to be just friends if that was what he wanted - which he probably did - Tahi thought to herself with a sigh. Oh well. It was nice while it had lasted...

((Ffff, inability to come up with something to say because I am not a rainbow pony and don't know how rainbow ponies think.))

"I kind of, already met your brother..." he admitted. "As you can see I'm not dead, but I want to learn a little magic now." He realized how vulnerable he was to long range magic attacks.

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Guest Mon Jan 17, 2011 5:39 pm

Tahi looked at him, slightly incredulous, but also slightly concerned. Kal had been in a very unusual mood lately. It was something she was going to have to figure out eventually - but right now she was concerned for Eos. Her brother was normally pretty mellow - but in the wrong mood he could be deadly.

"You met Kal? What happened? He didn't do anything to you, did he?" She moved in closer, looking for injuries, but finding only old scars.

Eos watched as Tahi inspected him for wounds, and had to admit to himself that he was happy she cared about him.

Post by Guest Mon Jan 17, 2011 5:54 pm

Tahi sighed, relieved. "Auntie Mnem's good like that. She looks out for most everyone here."

She frowned, sitting back on the lounge away from him - satisfied that her brother hadn't done anything. "He's not usually like that. But something's upsetting him. He hasn't been himself lately - and he's been avoiding me." She looked away - staring back into the stained glass window. "And he's blocking my magic - so I don't have any idea what's going on. Except that it probably has something to do with our father." She sighed, not really wanting to talk about it more.

She turned back and looked to Eos. "So what type of magic were you thinking of learning? More fire?"

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Eos Mon Jan 17, 2011 6:06 pm

Eos stared at the back of Tahi's head as she stared at the window. She loved her brother, that much was obvious, and she was worried about him.

When she turned back to him he looked at his hands in his lap, afraid to look her in the eyes, his powers had become more volitile at the Athenaeum, that and the emotions swirling around the room, and the memories eating at his insides, made him unsure of what would happen if he accidently did something to her. He remembered that she kissed him on the cheek back in the ballroom yesterday, skin on skin contact, something he usually tried to avoid.

"Well, I know I'm no good at water. At least I know I can use fire a little, but like I said I never tried Air. Maybe I'll listen in on one of your classes," he let her know. Air would be a good thing to learn if he was going to be talking to Tahi more... so Kal wouldn't be able to kill him. "But I've only been able to use Earth once, it was a strange day." He looked up to smile at her, but closed his eyes as he did so.

((I accept your challenge and make this long ^ XD Ok talk to you later.

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Guest Sat Jan 22, 2011 7:42 am

Tahi raised an eyebrow, a bemused smile playing about her lips. "You're welcome in my classroom at any time - though, like I said - my brother teaches it with me - so it may not be your best course of action." She paused, considering.

Truth be told she'd been teaching the class ever since she came to the Athenaeum, and a few years before that. Kal - had issues with staying in one place for too long, and that made it difficult to teach properly sometimes. Most of the times actually. But there was something to be said for letting students figure things out for themselves at times. A teacher couldn't just hold their hand throughout classes and expect them to be able to function properly in the arena. However - letting students figure things out for themselves and letting them have complete unsupervised reign with a potentially deadly force were two different things altogether.

Rolling her eyes she said, "Well -he does his best. But he is the only one that teaches the real battle class wind magic. I'm nowhere near as good as he is with it." Tahi frowned - realizing what Eos was probably thinking. Studying people was one of her habits - especially given her talents with wind magic. Men like Eos didn't like having their vulnerabilities pointed out to them - and she knew full well that against battle wind magic like Kal's which had a terrifying range - Eos' lack of matching ranged magic put him at a real disadvantage.

Tahi bit her lip - a worried expression on her face. "Promise me you'll let me talk to him before you try to confront him - or anything like that," she pleaded, her voice more solemn that she would have liked. She really didn't like the idea of Kal and Eos fighting. Her brother... he saved her when she was little, and had been her rock ever since. Though he could be shiftless, unreliable, and rather enigmatic when he chose to be - he had always been there for her when she needed him (and if it was out of his capabilities - he always had gone running to Auntie Mnem). Though his overbearing nature annoyed her as she grew into a young woman - there was still the small part of her that was glad her big brother cared - and would fight off the world for her if she had to. Tahi couldn't stand the idea of him hurt either.
But Eos... there was no denying she liked the guy. He was easygoing, easy to talk to, strong, courageous and maybe a tad bit foolish, but in a lovable way. And there was definitely power lurking behind those emerald green eyes - especially considering who his father was. If he and Kal fought - seriously fought - one or both of them would end up getting seriously hurt. Tahi would rather get hurt herself a thousand times over before she saw that happen to either of them. "No," she said thoughtfully, "there are some battles that are best fought off the battle field."

And, not to let the moment get too serious, she added in a more sing-song voice, "But - as master of strategic wind magic - that happens to be my specialty." She winked at him.

((YAY!!))

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Eos Sat Jan 22, 2011 7:17 pm

"I promise," he said quickly hearing the worry in Tahi's voice. He felt... kind of good knowing that some of that worry had to be for him. Seeing as how he wouldn't be able to touch Kal as long as he was good wiht wind magic, and seeing as how he was a wind nymph Eos didn't exactly expect that to change anytime soon. But he could teach himself some magic... maybe... possibly... or go to aomeone else to teach him.

When Tahi winked at him his cheeks got warm... a pinkish shade of warm.

"Hey.. uhm Tahi, is there anyway to block wind magic? I mean stricly 'defensivly', your brother doesn't exactly grin and hug me when he sees me. In fact... he pushes me into walls and almost cuts my head off," he told her very matter-of-fact and grinned.

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Guest Sat Jan 22, 2011 10:52 pm

Tahi blanched at the thought of what had probably happened with Kal and Eos meeting - especially with her brother in the current funk that he was in.

"Sorry!" She said with a guilty voice - though there was a small part of her that blamed Apollo and Athena for not warning him about Zeus' reputation at all. She had met each of them before when she was younger on some trip or another with Kal. Apollo she wasn't as fond of because of what he did to Auntie Mnem - though as she observed more gods, she realized that that was just how they usually were - and her attitude softened a little bit. She'd thought the world of her aunt, and even her friend Calla - but there was no way she was going to ever get involved with someone as feckless as a god. Her lady was the exception - rather than the rule, and it took a while to get used to that. And Athena, if truth be told Tahi thought the goddess could use a little lightening up - she was always so serious and logical all the time, but she'd never say that in front of her - or anywhere really. The walls did have ears... But Tahi would have thought that the goddess was above the petty jealousy that seemed to result in neither immortal warning Eos that being Zeus' made him a lot of instant enemies.

She was really going to have to set her foot down with her brother. Nothing good could come out of the two of them fighting.

She raised a suspicious eyebrow. "Defensively?" she questioned. Men - she thought to herself. They always thought that there was a fighting solution to everything. But she sighed and answered.

"With elemental magic - you have compliments and counters. Air and Earth are countered in the same way Water and Fire are. A stronger Earth magic user can defend against any wind magic attack, just as a stronger fire magic can evaporate any water magic, but a stronger water magic will douse the fire. Water complements air in ice, air compliments and feeds fire, fire compliments earth in lava, and earth strengthens and grounds water." She traced her finger in the air lightly. "It's a circle." She paused thinking for a second. "And within an element, strength always wins out. My brother's wind magic is stronger than mine - so he can prevent me from listening in on his conversations" She frowned as she admitted that one - her mind flickering back to Kal's unusual behavior lately. Her mind turned back to Eos' question.

"However, seeing as you're a beginner with magic - trying to use an elemental defense probably isn't your best option." Tahi paused. There was a way to temporarily disable a nymph's magic - but she herself was a creature of magic - as much as her brother was. She was kind of uncomfortable just telling someone her own greatest weakness - as well as her brother's.

She paused - studying him for a moment. He had promised stay away from Kal until she could talk to him. So there wouldn't be too much harm in telling him, would there be?

She turned away from him, back to the stained glass - hoping to hide her discomfort. "Your best bet is probably using something that sucks magic. They're rare - but they exist. Actually - here in the dungeons there's a monster that sucks magic. It's saliva has the same properties, in minute amounts. I've known warriors, such as yourself, with little magical abilities to soak talismans in the creature's saliva. The talismans will then suck off any magic once activated - though they have a limited lifespan."

Tahi paused. She'd tell about the saliva - but the creature's venom - that could kill any magical being by sucking the magic - and through the magic , their life force - right out of them - that was a secret best kept for now.
"But you should be careful. The talismans don't distinguish from friend or foe. They suck all magic and can be a great risk if you have magical allies."

She placed her palm on the window, listening to the breezes carried in through the strategically and artistically placed holes in the window. They'd be a great risk to her was what she was trying to say - but she didn't want to outright say it.

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Eos listened quietly as Tahi explained how to suck away magic. He realized that, that must have been hard for her, revealing both her and her brother's, and well, anyone who used magic's weakness. She really trusted him.

"I don't think I'll be going back to the dungeon anythime soon," he said very matter-of-fact, both to calm her, and because he had already kind of killed the moster she was talking about. ((mental face-palm)) "I actually already came in contact with the monster you're talking about. It gave me this," he said and pointed to the newest scar of his collection. The one that ran from his wrist to his bicep. "Adonia tried to fight it with fire magic and it spit it back," he explained. "Thank you though Tahi. I guess I'll be going now, hiding from your brother, thinking some things over... let you have some peace." He stood and smiled at her in goodbye as he walked toward the door.

((New idea >D *evillaughter* *cough cough* I mean... Athena?))

Tahi's Room Empty Re: Tahi's Room

Post by Guest Sat Jan 22, 2011 11:14 pm

Tahi wasn't happy with the idea of him fighting the magic-sucking monster - but at least he helped Adonia with it. The siren was a magical creature just like Tahi was - and she must have been in quite a bind.

Turning away from the window she walked with him to the door. "No," she said in response to his thanks. "Thank you for explaining things to me." She opened the door into the hallway, and peered around. Hopefully Amaranth or one of the other mentors weren't about. The siren was as bad with gossip as well... as Tahi herself was and she didn't want Amaranth hounding Eos on what his intentions were. Though Amaranth would probably be an ally against Kal's overprotectiveness if Eos really needed one - and she was a powerful nymph herself.

As she let him pass she mentally debated whether or not she should kiss him goodbye. Sure - she was rather free with her affections ((like the French kiss people on the cheek all)), but with Eos - would she be happy with that, or did she want something more? Coming to a quick compromise, she repeated what she had done the night they had danced together, giving him a light kiss on the cheek. "Goodbye, Eos." She said with a secret little smile. "I'll see you around."

And with that she closed her door. Happy. But with a lot to do - she realized as she remembered her brother was still somewhere brooding in the mortal realm.

((oooohh - Curious~))

Eos cheeks had been very warm lately... then they started to burn. After Tahi closed the door he walked to his room and sat at his desk, and thought.
