Re: Let's Get This Party Starting
Mnemosyne held her breath, taking in the stranger who looked down at her through the mask, but the shadows behind it prevented her from seeing his eyes.
"It's been a long time my lord," she said finally, her heart racing.

Re: Let's Get This Party Starting
Apollo reached up, removing his mask.
A smirk gracing his face.
"It has been a while, hasn't it...Mnemosyne."
Apollo stood still, she was beautiful..even more so than the last time he'd seen her.
"You look beautiful tonight...how have you been? Tell me how is Ilias...is he well?

"I.. I did not know you knew of him," Mnemosyne whispered. "He is very well, never at one place for more than a short time, he takes after you in the way."
She reached out to touch him again, though her fingers lingered a cm from his face, as if afraid to fully touch it. His face was as she'd remembered it, eyes as golden as the sun and dimples decorating his cheeks as he smiled.
"I have missed you," she bowed to the God before looking around to see if anyone had seen her, or had recognized the God, but as far as she knew everyone was busy with themselves.
"Why now?" She asked. "Why after all this time?"

Apollo smiled.
"Of coarse i know of my son. I've been busy lately so i havn't gotten to see him."
Apollo took her hand and kissed it.
"I have missed you as well, I heard talk in Olympus that you were throughing a party in our honor so i decided to visit you, my dear."

"Yet you haven't gone to see him, the poor doesn't even know he's the son of a God!" Mnemosyne dropped her hand. "I'm not sure I want him to know so either."
"Please don't see your son. He is better of not knowing." Mnemosyne had often thought about it, the decision to tell Ilios or no, but now she was certain that it was best for him not to know.
"Apollo," she meant to say more, but the sound of his name stopped her. Apollo. As if the saying of his name made it real.

Apollo growled.
"He is my child too Mnemosyne, you can't keep me from him."
Apollo scowled in anger. But then he smirked and grabbed Mnem's arm gently, he leaned in and kissed her.

Mnemosyne kissed him back, for but a heartbeat, before pushing him back. "Lord Apollo, I am a mother, I will do all in my power to protect that which I gave life," she responded.
"Being the son of a God comes with expectations, from others and from himself. And Gods do not make for stable fathers! Will you be around for his first flight? For his transition into manhood, for his marriage? For his first child? Will you be there when he needs you, or will you be who you've always been, one who is in no place for longer than a heartbeat?"

Apollo looked stunned at her outburst, and her pushing him away.
He blinked and turned around back to her.
"I can't say I will but I can't say I won't. I will try to be there but you know my obligation is to my father, Zeus and my work as the god of sun and music. Making the sun rise and set everyday is hard work."

"So can't you see why I don't want him to know it's you?" She asked desperately. "You will try, maybe, for a year or so. But you will forget, like you forgot me! He's better of being the son of just another warrior" Mnemosyne looked the God right in the eye, daring him to object. She'd move the world for her children, or fight Gods, either one.
Re: Let's Get This Party Starting
Apollo was stunned, she was so fierce.
"As you wish."
Apollo turned around. He had come here today for her, but the thanks he gets is her screaming at him.

Re: Let's Get This Party Starting
Kallistrates was tired. It had been a long couple of weeks on the road. Not that he minded traveling - in fact it was what he lived for - but doing his lady's work was hard business sometimes, and with Tahi tagging along he had double the worries. No it was good to be back for a little while. He could drop Tahi off for the year, and then do some traveling on his own terms. He liked the sound of that.
Walking up the sloping lawn he heard music. Music? Kal thought confused. Vaguely he wondered what day it was. He knew that the Ceremony of Eisodos was soon, but he couldn't remember the exact date. Heck he had forgotten what day it was today. He quickened his pace a little - and saw - to his astonishment - what appeared to be the tail end of a party. It was shutting down.
His first thought was disappointment. He did enjoy all of the company of the female mentors - and would love to ask a few of them to dance - sweaty as he was in his traveling gear.
His next thought was fear. His sister was not going to like that he caused her to miss this party.
He entered, and on his way in passed a cloaked man, exiting hurriedly with an upset expression on his face. No. That was no man. That was a god - Kal thought, feeling the brightness the man left in his wake. Phoebus Apollo if I don't miss my guess.
Kal looked in the direction the god had come from - Mnemosyne sat there, also looking as upset as the great god himself. Why that - humph! Kal thought, and sighed. He had a soft spot for the dryad. They were both warriors of Hestia - though thats where the similarities ended. She was kind, loyal, steadfast - where he was - well a flake and a disappointment.
Kal had a pretty good idea of what they were arguing about. It was supposed to be a secret - but then again - there were no secrets from a powerful nephelae like him. Anything said in the air could be brought to his ears (Kal briefly wondered if someone would try speaking underwater to avoid this). He knew that the bright one was Ilios's father - and that he had left Mnemosyne for quite some time.
"Look after her - she takes care of so many, Kallistrates - but there is nobody to take care of her" his lady said to him the night she asked him to be her mentor. And he had agreed. He tried. But staying in one place for so long was just not in his nature. And Mnemosyne had already dealt with too many men leaving her. He wouldn't be another. So he had made up his mind to avoid her - so they'd never be in that sort of situation. But if he was tied to any place - it was here - with her, with his sister, and with his lady. It was here he returned.
But - she looked so lonely. He could cheer her up without it being a romantic advance. Morpheus did that all the time. Why couldn't he? Making up his mind Kal went over to where Mnem was sitting with a huge grin on his face - calling "I'm baaaack!! Did you miss me?!"

Re: Let's Get This Party Starting
Mnemosyne looked at Kallistrated, blinked, and straightened her shoulders. "Kallistrates, where in the Hades have you been?!" She asked, though of course she already knew. Somewhere around, he always went somewhere, never giving a warning. He was someone constantly so aggravating but terribly difficult to stay mad at. But she was done being mad for one day, it was a party after all, or what was left of it.
She sighed. "I take it you took Tahirah with you as well, she's not going to like missing the party, and what a party it was too. If I we didn't have Morpheus we'd even be one Warrior less. And his camomile tea did save my life I dare say." She smiled. "So are you going to stay for a while now? At least long enough to teach your students something?"
Kallistrates was a good man, though a bit flighty one, and one who had ADD when it came to places. But he was one of Hestia's, and his presence did indeed help if only a little bit. Plus, he filled the vacancy of air magic, even if his sister did make a better teacher than he did. "Tahirah shall need to pay her respects to the Goddess tomorrow then, since she missed the Ceremony. Good thing it was on the Lady's orders that you were sent or I would have been concerned. Eisodos is not something to be taken lightly."
Another tired smile. "Welcome back, I owe you that at least."

Re: Let's Get This Party Starting
Kal shifted uncomfortably. So she was upset with him. And he deserved it too. So much for looking after her. She could look after herself a lot better than he could look after her. Surely his lady knew that.
"I've been around." Kal replied sheepishly. "Here and there - halfway to nowhere, and the other way back. You know how it is. " His cheeks colored (a terrible look on someone with such pale skin). "Anyway, our lady always has my ear. You know you could call on her should you need me." He sighed, sitting down next to her.
"And I'm fully aware that Tahi's going to skin me alive for this. Sometimes I miss when she was eight or so and I could just knock her unconscious when she was being difficult," he joked. Mnem didn't look amused.
"But aanyywaay, I might be around for a little while. Long enough to scribble a few more notes on the blackboard anyway. But half of my closet is full of Tahi's dresses. Staying longer would be difficult."
"But thanks Mnem. I know I have difficulty staying places - but if there's one place I will always return it's here."
He placed his arm around her in a half hug. "I'm glad Morpheus has been taking care of you. Someone's got to stop you from working yourself to death." She looked so tired though. He might have to speak with Morpheus afterwards.
Suddenly the music started back up again - at a very lively pace. "That'll be Tahi," he said, getting up. "I'd better go hide before she comes over here and chews me out! Goodnight Mnem, he said - kissing her hand lightly before leaving.
