Re: A chat inside the chat
I hate university stuff. And I hate life. Right now. Because I don't want to have to pay over ten thousand more pounds because I've lived in Canada for three years.
FML.
Stupid freaking Sheffield. I'm making Morph look it over but it doesn't sound too bright.
AARGH
And this message officially made me sound emo, so have a smily to counteract it.

Hokay, the Scots are a teensy tinesy bit nicer, though I have yet to figure out if they hold similar standards to overseas or EU students. I can't afford to pay 22000 dollars, as Lotus so kindly calculated for me, each year, and that's just the first three years.
Moooooo why do I want to be a docter? I need to vent, or drink some tea. MOOOOORPH! I need teeeeea!
Yes I am aware that that small piece of swearing shall be censored by some animal noise. A donkey if I remember correctly. We shall see.

Stupid people. ((I warn you, if you hate Justin Bieber then don't bother going past this.))
They freaking think Justin is gay and saying god hates him, when he freaking prays before every concert and he respects him. So they're going and protesting at his concert tonight at the sprint center. I swear to god, if they touch him, I AM BRINGING GUNS AND THEY WILL DIE.

I don't get all the Justin Bieber hate. I'm not a fan of his music, but I don't think all of this is justified. What did he do? Did I miss something? .3.
He's just a kid for crying out loud. He should be allowed to pray if he wants to.

It's called the law of popularity. If you don't like something - and it's popular - you must find a way to destroy it and make others who like it feel bad, because really - you're doing everyone a favor.
Example: Twilight. I'll admit - it's not a work of art by any means - but it's not the worst piece of literature I have ever read (I work part-time as an editor for a literary magazine. "The Tale of the Happy Unicorn" I still have nightmares about it). And there's no reason to hate everyone who likes it. Let them have their sparkly vampires in peace. Nobody's making you read it.
Same for Justin. Though I disdain of anyone who thinks that "shorty" is a proper way to refer to a girl - I do like some of his softer songs (don't remember the title but I call it the Meet in the Middle song) , and I'm not going to rant for hours against those I don't like.
But haters will hate.

Yes. Haters will hate even when there's nothing left to hate. They'll find something .3.
It seems like you can't say "I like twilight" on Da without someone jumping down your throat. I've never read the books and don't plan on it, so I'm pretty much neutral. Except with the whole sparkly vampire thing. That I don't get it .3.

Ange, you're smart, what makes the daddy longlegs spider stick to the wall with the tiny legs and not fall on me? I'm curious C:
WHAT GIVES THEM GRAVITY DEFYING POWERS!
It can't just be that they weigh next to nothing, those legs are like STICKS.

Re: A chat inside the chat
I can't say I've studied arachnids that much (again I avoided all insect based classes) but here goes.
The whole D=M/V sort of thing probably contributes. Spiders have their weight concentrated on a central point, and are supported by a fairly even spread of legs.
Sigh - I wish I had a good phylogeny to look at - they always help when doing these sorts of things. I'm gonna assume that arachnids are very close to insects evolutionarily speaking - specifically flies. I know about how flies hang upside down. They have special pads on the bottom of their feet - like little hook-ish things that help them grab onto rough spots on ceilings windows and walls. These pads - in flies - also secret a sticky fluid in minute quantities that helps them stick onto the surfaces of ceilings and other things. So - if arachnids are homologous to flies in this respect - it should be the same sort of deal... But I don't have a good phylogeny to check with to be sure.
That's the best answer I can come up with. Ugh - spiders. I'm sorry there seems to be such an infestation where you are!

Re: A chat inside the chat
All is good as long as it doesn't fall on my face. Spiders residing peacefully on the ceiling are okay, but when they come too close it's just NOT COOL.
Not just spiders, centipedes, beetles, crickets, parasites living inside those crickets, bees, flies, a damned lot of flies, dragonflies, butterflies the whole damned deal.
There is a lot of life here.

Fireflies? I've never actually seen a real firefly before (they don't like the northwest here)!
If I weren't severely arachnophobic I would be jealous...

Yupp, have those too. They're funny, its like walking downa path and seeing bright green lights xD
We have many lizards too, and snakes, though mI haven't seen any of the latter.
And you know what? I was a severe arachnophobic too, ESPECIALLY when it came to daddy longlegs spiders, and now I'm peacefully living with 7-10 of them in my room.
craaaaazy.
