Shadows of the Past
Adonia snapped the book in her hands shut, shoving it away in her frustration. Why can't I fin anything? she thought to herself, sadly. She had been wondering, for quite some time now, where she had come from... who her parents had been. She had to have had them at some point.... right?
She sighed wearily, picking up another book from the pile sitting next to her where she sat in the long isle of bookshelves. She had long since given up on ever finding out about her ancestry, but her recent late-night conversation with her teacher Eos - which, to her frustration, she could not remember much of except for a feeling of being care for - had renewed her curiosity.
The thought had been nagging at her at every moment until, finally, she could bear it no longer. Thu, here she was huddled among the dusty tomes searching for.... something... She had thought that perhaps the best way to start would be to find out what species her parent could possibly be. But so far, she had failed to find anything of use among the books she had pulled out.
A she turned the pages idly, not really paying attention to the contents anymore, she sighed. "Maybe I should just forget this" she muttered to herself, yawning a bit from her boredom. "Its not like-" she stopped herself, biting her lip. Its not like your parent would want you back anyway... if they're even alive, her mind retorted.
She stubbornly buried her nose in the book once more, still not sure what she was looking for, but determined to find something... anything to stop that nagging voice in her head.

Re: Shadows of the Past
Cedric stepped inside the giant library, so familiar to him that made him smile. Lately he had been training and today, he had to deliever the several books that were taken by him. All about Greek mythology and his ancestrals.
He sighed and walked through the corridors of books and spotted a white haired girl that he knew from a long time and smiled, taking a book from one of the shelves and walked to the female figure.
"Miss Adonia!" he said with a low voice tone, bowing to the siren. "How have you been? It's been the longest of time since I've seen you!" he said, grabbing the chair "Mind if I join you? You look concerned about something." he said, noticing that she had a small frown over her face.

Adonia looked up in surprise, smiling as she recognized the young human. "Hello Cedric!" she said with a smile as he sat down. "Oh..." her smile faltered for a moment before she responded cheerfully. "Oh I was just trying to fin some information on sirens... You know... where we come from. what kind of parents we have.. That sort of thing," she shrugged, feigning nonchalance as she closed the book she held, turning to look at her friend.
"How about you? What are you up to today?" she said with a grin. Cedric was often to be found among the rows of books in the library, reading thick volumes and avoiding the gorgon librarian. She wondered what new topic he was pursuing this time.

Re: Shadows of the Past
Cedric sat down, placing his big book over the table while listening carefully to the siren. "I see.... maybe sirens are a mixture of humans and other sirens? Most of the species don't know where they came from." he started and adjusted his glasses.
"I do know that humans come from the monkey, according to Sir Darwin" he said with a smile and perked at her question.
"Well, I've been researching about my ancestrals, especially the ones who are related to magic and stuff. Lord Hermes told me that I could find almost anything in the Athenaeum, reason why I am here." he replied with a polite smile.

"I don't know" she said, her fingers idly tracing the patterns on the cover of the book. "I know there must be some information about it in here Somewhere... I mean, they have copies of just about every book that has ever existed... there must be something somewhere in here..."
"Really?" she replied with interest. "I am doing something similar... only.. I have no idea where to start. I imagine you must have some very interesting ancestors" she grinned.

"Maybe I can help you in finding what you are searching!" he said with a smile, not opening his book. "Maybe you should start with books ABOUT sirens. If something's there, take a note. Then try to find books about STORIES of sirens, I bet there's something there too. Tales, reports, stories, history, anything." he continued, giving suggestions on where Adonia could find things related to her past.
"Yes, I'm really curious about my past too." Cedric smiled to the siren and looked at the book he brought "Well, it's hard but it seems that my great great grandfather was a famous magician that died in the burning fire. But I haven't found anything else." he said, rubbing his nose.

Adonia smiled "Thank you Cedric" she said with a sigh. "I've been trying to figure out where to start all day.. Lucky you came along or I' till be searching randomly!" she giggled
"Killed in a fire?" she said in alarm. "How?" That's terrible!"

Cedric smiled widely at the siren "Oh, no worries, Miss! Anything that's related to books, come to me instead of Miss Sylipha... she's not in the best of moods today." he said, scratching his head with a nervous smile.
"Indeed terrible but even in my time, people don't really like witches and wizards." he said with a soft sigh. "My great great grandfather lived in time that being able to control magic was bad. Really bad. And the punishment was being burnt in the fire."

"Oh?" Adonia said with a sly grin. "What is she up and arms about this time?" she giggled, looking over her shoulder out of habit to be sure the grouchy librarian was not listening in.
Adonia shuddered. She had seen what fire could do, and had already burned herself a few times while working on her fire magic. She couldn't imagine what agony it must be to be burned. "That's terrible" she whispered. "I'm sorry Cedric.." she said sadly "People can be so cruel sometimes"

Re: Shadows of the Past
Cedric shrugged his shoulder with a small smile "I don't know... maybe he's not happy that I took so many books and only returned them now.... or maybe some male student didn't talk lowly enough." he said with a small and low chuckle.
"Oh, Miss Adonia don't worry... my great great grandfather was smart enough to extend his blood line and crazy enough to enjoy being burnt and cast a curse over the village that killed him." he said with a small sigh. He didn't know either to be sad or happy, such cruelty was sure awful.

Adonia giggled "that does sound like her" she said. "I've never actually met her, but I hear she's... er... something of an acquired taste... if you are male."
Adonia sighed. "Well even so, I do wish people could be a bit less.. um.. brutal.. towards each other" she mused. "He cast a spell on the village? What kind of spell?" she said cocking her head.

"Well, I haven't truly met her but she doesn't seem like the woman to have a nice talk with any man... probably she thinks the same about every men and that doesn't sound very good." he said with a small shrug.
Cedric shook his head lightly "Not a very nice spell, if I may say.... Half of the village got sick with some strange disease and other half had to suffer to see its lovers and family to die slowly..." he said with a sad sigh.

Re: Shadows of the Past
"Goodness... she does sound terribly difficult" she said, trying to holding a laugh. "I pity any man who falls for her" she said giggling at the thought.
Adonia was shocked. It was difficult to believe some one capable of such a cruel act was the ancestor of such a kind man. "N-no... not nice at all.." she mused.

Re: Shadows of the Past
Cedric chuckled lightly, glancing around the room to see if anybody had heard, especially if Sylipha was there. If she heard them, they were most certainly doomed.
Cedric adjusted his glasses once more "I told you, Miss Adonia... even though it still picks my curiosity on how he learnt about magic. Where? With what people? That's what I'm trying to find..."

Adonia looked around as well, giving Cedric a look that clearly mirrored his thoughts.
"Well that's understandable" she said thinking of her own desire to learn about her past. "Any idea where to start your search/" she asked.

Re: Shadows of the Past
Cedric chuckled, seeing that Adonia had done the same as him.
"Well, I've already known that he's a famous wizard, might as well just start again with the magic books. To see if there are any written by him." he said with a smile. "Do you want me to help you with your search?"

"Oh sure" she said with a smile "But I wouldn't want to distract you from your own work." she said sheepishly. "Perhaps I could help you search for your ancestor? His work with magic must be fascinating." she smiled.

"Maybe we can help each other?" Cedric stood up and opened his palm to her "Wait here." he said, rushing through the corridors of books, reappearing minutes later with several books and laying them over the table.
"Well, here are some books for you. All about sirens. Tales, history, etc." he said with a smile, sitting down again.

Adonia watched him curiously as he went over to the long rows of books and came back with a stack for her. "Thank you!" she said excitedly opening a book to begin her search. "Let's just hope we can find something in here" she said flipping through the pages.

She laughed as she began to skim the contents of the pages. "I doubt that, but one can always hope!" she said as she began skimming the contents of the pages as she flipped through the book. "I just wish I even knew a name to start with.." she said quietly.

Cedric chuckled lightly "What about my orange eyes? I think it has something to do with the magic we are able to master... It makes sense." he said, mumbling a small spell that was in the book. He didn't know what it was but was soon to discover....
