Adonia smiled and held out her hand. "Come on then" she said. "The water should be solid enough to stand on around me."

Brushing the sand off her hands, she reached out to take Adonia's and stepped onto the water. It was a strange feeling, because she could feel the gentle swell of the calm lake beneath her feet. Walking on water. Well, she certainly wasn't Jesus. "This is a different experience."

Adonia giggled. "Is it?" she asked. "I wouldn't know since I've done it all my life..." she looked out across the glassy surface of the lake. "Its a shame there are no waves on the lake though.... Shall I try to make some?" she smiled mischievously.

She chuckled. "It is, one that people wouldn't believe back home." Jane thought for a second, the smile becoming infectious. "If you think it would be fun, then by all means..."

[ Hmmm...I think she's pretty tall, with long legs. So around 5'10"?
I am so horrible at giving my characters heights and stuff ><; ]

Normally, Addi would not have tried something so reckless as creating waves and supporting two people on the water's surface all at the same time, but she had barely used any magic all day... so it should be fine.

"I don't think I can make big waves for two people like the storm ones I used to run on, but I can make some small ones for us..... try to stay close" she said, breaking into a run and pulling Jane along behind her.

As she ran, she began drawing on her power carefully. She started small, creating first one small knee-height wave, then making progressively larger ones; laughing as they ran up and down the shifting expanse.

She tried to stay as close to Adonia as she could without tripping, it was hard to run so close to someone, but she managed it. Jane couldn't suppress a grin, this was something she'd never imagined doing. And the fact that there were waves now made it more fun, though she had to focus hard to keep on top of the water.

After a time, Addi could feel the use of so much magic beginning to drain her, so with a grin at Jane she called. "Last one! Get a deep breath!"

And with that she summoned up one last wave, running up and jumping off the top, cutting off her magic use so that she could dive into the water on the other side.

She followed Adonia into the air, sucking in a breath as it whooshed past her. Then she tucked herself into a tight ball, landing with a splash. Opening her eyes and looking up at the surface, Jane grinned and uncurled, pushing against the water to get to the surface.

Adonia came up next to Jane laughing. "I'm impressed!" she said "It took me a little while to get the hang of balancing on the water's surface when I first tried it, but you kept up with me perfectly!"

She was a bit out of breath from all the running and magic use, but she couldn't help but laugh. This had been some of the best fun she'd had in a while.

"You just have to work on balance, is all," she said, treading water to keep afloat. Such a nice, relaxing swim, and a bit of fun. Something Jane hadn't enjoyed for a while, and it had been ages since she'd smiled this much. "Thanks, though."

"Hmmm," she said, thinking. "I like to keep myself occupied. I can't stand sitting around and doing nothing. I guess...I guess you could say I like to do art, though I'm not very good at it and it takes me ages to do anything..."

"Only a little," she admitted. "I was absolutely hopeless with music, and we all had to take some form of art, so I took visual art. I can do it, but I'm slow..."

"That's ok!" Adonia said encouragingly. "Art is art. It doesn't matter how fast or slow you are. Its all about getting what you see in your mind onto the page."

Jane chuckled. "Yeah, but try telling that to my art teacher when I'm overdue on a deadline," she said. "I swear, that man hated me more than anything. I must have been his most frustrating student, being so stubborn..."

Jane shrugged, keeping her legs kicking to keep her up but letting her arms rest for a bit in the water. "Oh, he was brilliant, an amazing artist, one of the best of our day. I was just...not the best student. But he had his ways of keeping me interested in something that I wouldn't have thought twice about otherwise, so I owe him one. He was fun to talk to, when he was in a good mood."
