"Yeah, but..." he sat up and stared at Adonia trying to think of a way to explain things. For some reason it was very hard to explain anything to her. She meant well, but he thought it would be better for both him and Tahi if he just forgot about 'that'.

He pat her head, knowing she was thinking about Jack, he'd come around eventually. "Addi..."

Addi blanched a bit as she heard the knowing in his voice.

"I'm fine" she said stubbornly, crossing her arms and glaring at the ground as he patted her head. She was Not going to make him worry again. "Just don't give up yet... that's all I'm saying" she said, more gently.

He rolled his eyes seeing Adonia emotionally shut down. "And what should I do? I don't want to have to use this," he said fingering the amulet. Hell he didn't know how to use it. He didn't want to fight Kal because he knew he would lose... especially since his spear was broken.

Addi gave him a look that was part glare and part exasperation. "You're just going to have to find a way to prove to him that being Zeus' mentor does not necessarily make you evil. Zeus may be a.... well you know..... but you are not him. You have your own reasons for the choices you have made. Besides, I doubt Lord Kallistrates' past is perfectly spotless either... Don't give up, just.... tread carefully."

Addi gave him a look that could freeze water in July and flicked his forehead rather sharply. "Its also easier to skip classes and weapons training than to study diligently, but that doesn't mean you should slack off and ignore it now does it?"
"And I highly doubt it hurts less," she said putting her arms on her knees and plunking her chin down on them. "I was completely miserable while I was pretending that I didn't like Jack... It was easier when I finally accepted it and pursued it.."

She basically described the young Eos of Sparta... the one that had earned him such a heavily scarred back. That and large amounts of disrespect for his war loving elders. Eos opened an eye to glance at her.

"That's you and Jack. It's different," he insisted.

"Perhaps..." she said quietly. "And maybe its just that I have this selfish little want to see you happy... You almost seem like you don't want to be happy..." she grumbled moodily.

"Thank you Adonia," he said as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Maybe I don't want to be happy," he murmured more to himself. Then realized how it sounded. "That is, if my happiness hurts others. That would be selfish of me wouldn't it? Tahirah wouldn't... be happy..."

Adonia stiffened at his words. "And what if she would be happy?!" she said angrily, pulling away and glaring at him. "How do you know she doesn't care for you?! For all you know, she could be hoping you'll be the one guy who manages to stand up to that ridiculous brother of hers!!" she hissed at him, poking him rather viciously in the chest.

"If you ask me, sitting around moping about a 'forbidden' love is much more selfish than simply pursuing it and seeing if she... just... you ARGH!!" Finally losing her temper with his consistent moping, she punctuated her final remark by bringing back her arm and slapping him with enough force to knock him backwards.

A moment passed, and her look of anger and frustration gave way to one of horror, her hands flying up to her mouth as she opened and closed it, trying, in vain, to choke out an apology.

Eos rubbed his cheek and grinned. Mostly surprised Adonia would do something like that. Very surprised Adonia would do something like that. She always seemed a little bit afraid of him, and now she was slapping him... and yelling at him.

"Adonia... what was that for?" he asked, trying not to start laughing. The mix of lack-of-sleep and near feverishness from a small wound on his torso that had been ignored because it didn't hurt as much as his legs was making him slap-happy, literally.

"Hahaha, I didn't mean she doesn't like me back. Tahi well she's Tahi. I know she liked me when I first met her but the Zeus thing threw her for a loop. I meant if we do end up together... pfft." He grinned and spilled his guts. Thinking of all the things that would hurt tahi if she got close to him.

((He's not as clueless as we thought o_O ))

Addi blanched as he laughed, her shaking hands dropping into her lap. He was acting strange.... VERY strange, and there was something about that grin on his face that just wasn't the Eos she knew. It worried her.

"Well, what about it? What WOULD happen?!" she persisted stubbornly, trying to hide how much his odd reaction had shaken her.

"Well..." he said and fell back, the look of amusement leaving his face. his feverish brain decided, 'what the hell?' and ran out though his mouth.

"If she did like me back, I'd love her and protect her and keep her safe from everything I could keep her safe from. But then... girls usually want babies and..." he paused for a second, playing with the moss at his finger tips. A disgusted look on his face. "It might work because of her Nephelae blood. But she's still human," he twisted around some more, the poor clump of moss didn't stand a chance. His face got red again, maybe from the fever and maybe from embarrassment. "My blood is no good."

Addi looked at him blankly, thinking for a moment that she must be hallucinating. Eos was telling her everything... Not just some half-truths and partial stories... The man was literally spilling his guts... and looking very red... More so than usual.

Eying his red face suspiciously, she growled "What does her being part human have to do with it?"
"... and what on earth does your blood have to do with it?" she said in frustration, wrinkling her nose as she caught sight of the moss he was mangling.

He kept his eyes away from her face. "If we did have a child, it might kill her. Or make her sick. Or even nothing, but I wouldn't want to put her in that danger. And I'm thinking too fare ahead like usual." He frowned. His cheeks still a bright shade of red, the rest of him warm with a fever. He dropped the poor plant and wrapped his arms around his legs. Shutting his eyes tight for a second because they hurt, like they were boiling.

"And even if she was okay, my blood is still bad," he said vaguely again.

Addi was starting to get worried. He was acting so strange. His face was red and he had suddenly closed his eyes, as if he was in pain. She was frustrated, confused, worried and baffled all at once.

"I..... you keep talking about blood! What the heck is so bad about your blood? And ano-.... A-are you? What the heck is wro-" she stopped as a thought occurred to her.

She suddenly leaned forward to feel his face, brushing his overlong bangs out of the way. A moment later, her hands flinched away in surprise. "Eos... you're burning up!... why one earth are you out and about with a fever?!"

((oooh the irony... here I sit scolding Eos about going about with a fever, while I sit here at my computer burning up XDDDD))

Eos closed his eyes again and rubbed his face with his hand and leaned away from Adonia. "I'm fine," he said. And it wasn't a lie because he believed it.

Adonia stared at him for a moment like a deer in a bright light... then

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE FINE!?!?!" she yelled in exasperation. "YOU'RE SPILLING YOUR GUTS AND YOU HAVE A BLOODY FEVER!!" She emphasized the last word in desperation, fighting to keep her temper in check in her frustration.

"A-A... A BIT?!?!?!?" Addi sputtered. This was too much for her and she stood up and began pacing back and forth rapidly to restrain herself from slapping him again. "YOU'RE SITTING THERE WITH A BLOODY FLAMING HOT FEVER AND YOU'RE TELLING ME YOU FEEL..."

She stopped suddenly, flopping to sit next to him again, laughing at the ridiculousness of this entire situation. "You feel a bit under-the weather?...." she finished lamely, looking at him in amused disbelief. She put her face in her hands a moment.

"No offense, Eos, but are you out of your bloody mind?" she groaned as she tried to think of what to do with the stubborn, woozy Spartan.

"Maybe," he admitted. And that's when he noticed how badly the little cut on his side was hurting. A deep throbbing ache. Ah, crap. He thought to himself. He knew the feeling. Damn, he needed antibiotics. He curled up on himself, and sat there waiting for death. Or a merciful lightning bolt for Zeus, then he remembered that his dislike of his grandfather was mutual. Eos was just a pawn in his game, and a pawn isn't useful dead.

Adonia looked up as she heard him moving, her head snapping up in alarm as she saw him curled up as if in pain. "E-Eos? What is it? What's wrong?" she said feeling his head and looking him over for any signs of injury or illness.

"YOU IDIOT!" Adonia yelled, as she started searching frantically for any signs of a wound. "WHERE IS IT YOU BLOODY FOOL?!?!?" she yelped, grabbing his face in her hands, resisting the urge to slap him for that cheeky grin plastered across his face.
