Practice isn't without sacrifice. Empty Practice isn't without sacrifice.

2 A.M, seeing that no one was around, Oni came into the training circle to do a bit of prepping his powers...or perhaps try something new.

He was kneeling down, around him was several flowers and a growing banzai tree inside their own individual pot. Each flower was different from the last, a different type and a different color. He used his own earth magic to grow them himself.

Oni thought to himself, 'Alright, let's see if it's the nature that can make a difference in healing...the basic structure of a plant is not far off from human skin, just like our cells, so perhaps this outcome will prove once and for all...'

Within seconds, after examining his surroundings, he rolls up his left sleeves, takes out his dagger, staring at it for a moment, questioning if he was willing to do this. It was not exactly the best way to test his method, but it would provide the best coverage from anyone knowing his defect.

'Alright, Oni....It'll only just be for a moment...' He kept talking to himself as he brings the dagger close to his arm. Once the steel has met with his skin, he closes his eyes tightly as it sinks in, enough to cause him to bleed. From the pain surging through his nerves, his hand jolted away, gritting his teeth. His arm winces as the blood was forming above the cut.

After a moment of getting use to the sting, he sat his dagger down and wraps his free hand under the cut. His hand began to glow a slight green color, as well as the plants and banzai tree, illuminating the room. He was concentrating his focus on the cut as the lights by the plants and tree began to float towards his hand, as if Oni was using the extra strength from them to use.

Upon watching, he sees the blood began to sink back into his skin, and what seemed like the flesh was reconnecting itself from thousands of thin thread inside the cut, pulling together to cover the hole.

Oni stared at it for a moment. His skin where he was cut was gone.

He looks over to the plants, seeing that they weren't wilted.

'Maybe..this was the answer all along...The power of earth...the connections of our cells, tissue, the way of healing...Perhaps it-' With his mind being cut off from what seemed like his heart was going off like a siren for a split second, he suddenly used his right hand to cover his chest. He lets out a groan, feeling like he had a heartburn.

'Dammit...I was wrong...again...' After seconds, with the pain now gone, his hand reaches onto his thighs, in defeat. 'At the very least, it's not the earth's life force itself that causes this pain...'

He sighs, in the room alone in the dark.

Adelphie watched curiously from behind a tree how Oni proceeded with his experiment. It wasn't spying, truly, she was going to make her presence known soon enough, her head was already buzzing with questions. She'd been out as usually, she never went to bead earlier than 3, her being a night-nymph and all. And in the moonlight her hair and eyes glowed in the dark (which was also why she had to hide behind a tree at night), that combined with enhanced night-vision made her perfect for the night.

She flinched as the boy groaned and grabbed at his heart. Heart pain, now what would cause that? Would it be the fusion of his energy with the plants energy? She assumed that'd been what he'd been doing, what with the general glowing and all. She decided to make a mental note of it, but not bring it up just yet, although the curiosity was burning.

She peeked out from behind the tree, and slowly came forward, so as not to startle him. "That's quite the way to experiment," she said softly, motioning to the arm that was now healed again. "It looked like the plants healed you, but how is that possible since plants and nymphs are entirely different?" She asked, although her own mind was already formulating possible answers. "Unless you being a dryad means you're kind of like a plant?"

"Oh, I'm sorry I disturbed you," she said quickly. "I just saw all the lights and had to know what it was."

From hearing another voice, Oni quickly turned to where the noise was coming from, using his free hand that he had to his chest to grab his dagger and putting it behind his back, going inside it's sheath, since it still had a bit of his blood on it. He wasn't exactly sure if she saw everything that was going on, or rather if she knew what he was trying to do.

Though, again with the questions, Oni seems to see a trend here of her being curious...It reminded him of Eri. Curious, bold to a certain point, and rather high in energy...or higher then his.

"Heh..Experiment..." Oni said, with a goofy grin, scratching the back of his head. "Heal...Ah...so you did see..." He was slightly nervous from her seeing that she knows a bit about his experiment. Though he sigh, not exactly going to get her off his back unless he had some sort of answer.

He takes a moment to breath, just so the pain inside him subsides, that way, he could talking without flinching or studdering."Well...You see, with my earth skills, it taps down to my spirit with anything around me that's nature. Like on Earth, alot of human compounds can be found in mines, land, or even in the air. Such compounds that are used are sulfur, salt, water, and so one. But not only humans, I can also heal animals, flowers, trees, or anything with the littlest form of life inside them. Simple to me, really. It's like chemistry...or rather, alchemy, to some extent...So with my earth powers, I can transfer my power to focus on any damage on skin, flesh, roots, or anything like that."

He waves his hand in the air, chuckles slightly. "A plant. Me? Hardly. I'm just like any dryads out there, just...unique in a way. There's probably other things I can do that normal dryads can't do, but everyone is unique in their own way, so don't give it too much though."

"....A-anyways, it's late, shouldn't you be asleep?" Oni was trying to get the topic off of him, hopefully she wasn't getting more curious about him.

Adelphie noted his nervousness and smiled encouragingly. "Well I wouldn't know, dryads can be awfully odd sometimes, they do tend to remind me of plants. Talking about plants, what is yours anyway?" She asked curiously. "Are you a flower, or a tree? You look a bit like a tree to me, or maybe a bush?"

"Oh, I've heard of chemistry, but not of alchemy, do tell!" She rocked on her tiptoes and back a moment as she usually did when she got excited over something.

"Oh I'm a Pleiad, a nymph of the night, so the hour doesn't affect me at all. And I come equipped for the night," she pointed at her eyes, and hair, which glowed in the dark. "These are torches I'll never lose, and I have good night-sight as well. I'm always around at night. No, the question is, why are you out this late?"

"Uhh..." Oni was a bit confused at the question. "I'm...a dryad, and a dryad is a dryad....Can't say anything else besides that."

"Well alchemy... It's science with chemistry, really. Making compounds balance is what it is, mostly. Luckily, my techniques can help with giving equality to it. Say like trying to help out someone's cut, per say...You'll need a compound of certain compounds to help reattach the scar, therefore healing the cut and stops the bleeding. Good skill to have to save someone." Oni mouth wasn't exactly closed. It was as if he was going to go on with the discussion, but he lets out a sigh, shakes his head. "But there are others way to help someone who's wounded then magic."

"Ah, I see....Night nymph..." Knowing that he was cornered and can't exactly lie to her, he looks back at the pots he had and pointed them out. "I was just doing a bit of magic training, couldn't sleep."

"Oh, you don't have a tree or flower that your life is linked to?" She cocked her head, a slight confused. "I've never heard of a dryad without a tree before, though I still think you look like a tree. Maybe a laurel? No, not a laurel, but a willow maybe, you have a bit of that weeping willow in you, all closed up and what not."

"So you like helping people?" She deduced curiously, the fact that there was more he wasn't telling her didn't slip her notice. "That must be why you're doing experiments with this sort of stuff, but you don't look like it did you much good," she looked at him for a moment. "Your cut may be healed but you look very pale, and there was something with your heart, wasn't it?"

"Couldn't sleep? That's as good an excuse as any I suppose. So are those plants that you raised for the specific purpose of these experiments?"

"....Actually, you're right, a weeping willow..." Oni was sort of in a daze from her actually naming what his life was link to.

" I do like to help others, yeah...If we were discussing battle terms, I'd be on the defense rather on the offense." As if it hasn't gave her any clues that he'd be one to follow, not lead, his voice became slightly more timid. "I-It's...Fine. Just...had alot to eat. A heart burn, probably...."

Oni looked back to the plants he used for the experiment, then back at Adelphie. "Yeah, they were here for something I was experimenting, but I didn't exactly get the result I wanted..." Oni looked away, head hanged slightly, letting out a sigh.

"I am?" Adelphie seemed quite surprised. "Oh, of course I am!" she said quickly. "You seem a bit... weeping, in a way."

"A heart burn..." she echoed. Somehow his manner of speaking betrayed that it wasn't entirely honest. But she nodded. "Alright, as long as there's nothing more serious going on. Right?"

"Ah, well that's what experimenting is for, isn't it? To find out if something works or not, so if you continue the experimenting you should get the results you want, right? So don't look so disappointed, you look a little a scolded puppy!" She giggled at that.

Oni shrugged at the remark. He wasn't exactly sure whether that was from analyzing himself or that it was a put-down. Either way, he didn't really cared.

He sighed, he can tell that she probably doesn't exactly believe him...But he wasn't going off, killing himself over something that isn't worth throw away a life. "N-no...Nothing serious."

"I know I know...Which is why I'm here afterall." He gave a small, yet insincere smile, chucking a bit to hopefully seem more cheerful then he is.

She nodded. "Alright, that's good. You know more about that kind of thing than I do, with your medicine books and all," Adelphie smiled. "So I'm sure it must be nothing. Still, I think it's very brave of you to experiment with healing this way."

"Or you could just be foolish," she said with another bit of thought. "Magic is very... unpredictable. So your experiments could either be brave or foolish. But since you're so smart I think it must be brave of you. Or perhaps it's an act of desperation, there's always that..." She trailed off, looking at the boy and trying to analyze him. Sheesh, he wasn't making it terribly easy on her, with all that closed behaviour.

Oni looked over to Adelphie. He can see that he's giving her a run for her money on trying to see what he's exactly trying to do. From the remark of him being either brave or foolish, he gave a slight chuckle to her. "Well isn't that always a possibility? Whether it's a dangerous experiment or not, don't you think anything could seem foolish in a different perspective? ...But pay no attention to it." He rotated his arm that now has a slight mark on him behind before giving out a stretch. "Well for now, I think bed would be a good idea for me."

"That's true," Adelphie mused with a smile. "Bravery in itself could be seen as a foolish thing to do. I'm starting to like you Oni, you've got a good set of brains. The Gods know the Athenaeum isn't known for its vast population of intelligent beings."

She nodded. "Fair enough, I forget sometimes that for other people the night is a time for sleep." She watched him closely, aware that her questioning made him feel a tad uncomfortable but it was just something she couldn't stop. She always needed to know more. "Are you going to clean up those plants first, and where do they go?"

"Intelligent itself can't be explain...Where someone could be smart with math and science, where others could be an expert with how they can use their magic to help others...Can't really be categorized, really. You just need a good perspective on something and aim high for it." He said, standing up and looking over at the plants.

"Well I did just grow them, so no sense in just leaving them here. I'll go plant them outside somewhere." He walks over to them, picking them all up and into his arms, slightly struggling a bit, but able to walk.

"Oh," Adelphie pouted, a little put off for being corrected like that. "Well, I still like you," she said with a little smile then. "You're fun to talk to, and it's a real challenge to unearth your secrets." She giggled. "I suppose I just made a pun!"

"Alright, I'll help you, I did inherit a little bit of my mum's talents," she followed him, though didn't offer to help with the carrying, he looked so very amusing struggling with the hand-full. "Just tell me what to do okay?"

Seeing that she was able to help, he didn't hesitate to ask. "Wanna help carry these pots?" He had about 8 pots in his hand, all were more or less equal weight, which would only be a problem if they were being carried like the the way Oni is right now.

"Oh, alright," Adelphie took three pots in her arms and was already struggling a bit with the awkwardness of carrying them, but she held them. "So you know I've had little practice with plants so you're going to have to tell me what to do," she told him a bit apologetically. The truth was that she'd stayed away from any kind of plant-works since her fall-out with her mother and she barely remembered the times when Mnemosyne had taught her to care for plants. Her thumbs were definitely green no more.

Oni gave a nod. "Right, follow me outside."

From the lighter load he has, he moves out from the room, and leads Adelphie outside of the school. He gave a quick glance around and walked around the walls till he came across where the soil were slightly soft. He looked back at Adelphie. "We'll plant them here. Give me a sec." With that, he put down the five pots he had, touched the ground and formed eight perfect little holes that the plants can be inserted. "There we are. Just get the plants from the pot and put them in. Nothing like giving the school a bit of a touch up, right?"

"Oooh, cool!" Adelphie said excitedly as the eight holes appeared. She put down her own three pots and dug out the first inhabitant. Placing the plant gently in a hole she covered it up with soil. Perfect. Now the next one...

Adelphie giggled at his comment. "Like this place needs more plants," she rolled her eyes at her mother's habit of crowding the place with flowers. "But I suppose this is our personal touch to this place right Oni?" Completely disregarding the fact that all she did was place them in the ground.

Oni nodded. "Indeed." He sank his hand into the first pot, pulling the plant out and placing it inside the hole, patting it down till the soil was firm. He continued this till his five pots were empty. Afterward, he puts the pot inside on another to create a pile, putting them aside so Adelphie could put in her's. "Mind taking care of these pots for me?" He asked, letting out a long yawn.

Adelphie smiled at the obviously tired boy. Humans, she thought, can't even stay out one night. She motioned with her hand. "Go, I'll take care of these, go get your rest and all." She finished putter her last plant in the ground to and put the empty pots with his.

Oni rubbed his eyes. "Thanks. I'll see ya at another time. Good night." He said, standing up, turning around and waving off as he heads back inside the school.

'Well...Today's experiment was a failure...But that was too close...Should be more careful with how I try to figure out my problem...ALONE...' Oni began thinking as he heads back to his room. 'I'll get this figured out...and then I won't have to do these dangerous and possibly life threatening actions ever again...'

((..Well I guess this RP is done unless you wanna add in one more note on here or something. XD ))
